Welcome back to another week of Top Dynasty Keepers.

The regular season will soon be coming to and end, which means the major league debuts of two of the games top prospects will also be coming to an end.

VERY DIFFERENT PLAYERS

This week we are going to take a look at Riley Greene of the Detroit Tigers and Tristan Casas of the Boston Red Sox.

Both players entered the season as two of the top prospects in the game. Riley was a consensus Top 10 prospect, entering the season ranked fourth by Baseball America, fifth by MLB.com and sixth by Baseball Prospectus.

Greene was one of the top hitting prospects in the 2019 draft and has remained so since become a professional.

Meanwhile, Casas entered the 2022 season as the 19th best prospect by Baseball America, 16th my MLB.com and 44th by Baseball Prospectus. Unlike Greene, Casas was not drafted because of his hit tool. He was drafted in the first round of the 2018 draft because he can hit the ball a long way.

GETTNG THEIR FEET WET

While Greene and Casas are very different players, both have one thing in common – they have both reached the majors this season.

So far, their debuts have been a mix of good and bad. Both have struggled at the plate at times. Greene is currently hitting under .250 while Casas is barely hitting about .100 during his brief time with the Red Sox.

But both players have shown off the tools  – Greene’s overall hitting skill and Casas’ massive power – that got them promoted from the minors.

So let’s take a look at the two rookies.

Last week is a good representation of the closing month of the fantasy baseball regular season. We had our top recommendation pushed back, and he didn’t even make a start. That sort of crap happens way too often this time of the season, and it makes picking streamers more challenging than ever. With that said, […]

Guardians OF Will Brennan fits beautifully onto a playoff roster given his contact-heavy approach and solid all-around game. In 129 games between Double and Triple-A, Brennen slashed .314/.371/.479 with 13 home runs, 20 stolen bases, 69 strikeouts and 50 walks. They probably could’ve used him sooner, which would’ve given him time to adjust before the playoffs. It’s just three games so far, but he’s got three RBI’s, two stolen bases, zero strikeouts and a .364 batting average.

As most MLB teams have moved ever closer to three-outcome lineups, Cleveland has traveled the opposite path toward roster construction, prizing low strikeout rates and all-field approaches. It’s working, and it could be a deadly brew to the fence-swinging clubs in October. Tampa gets a lot of love for maintaining a winner despite penny-pinching owners, but Cleveland is about to make its fifth postseason in seven seasons, and 2022 feels like the beginning of a dominant run through the AL Central. They’re up eight games ahead of the second place White Sox right now and eleven games up on the Twins. It’s not easy to see how those two bridge the gap next year.

The season is winding down and that gives us an opportunity to look at one of the most important times of the year for a keeper league owner.  As the playoffs and final standings push come to a close, those in contention will inevitably feel the roster crunch.  Casting off talent to make the all too critical move may win the league, but also be our ticket to a useful building block going into next year’s draft.  This week, we will focus on some of those casualties to see if there is any value to be found.  While these names might not be sexy, they just might be the right price for a keeper or dynasty piece.  Join us as we jump into the trash heap with our hitter profiles as we search for some 2023 keeper values.

Happy Saturday, Razzballers! The countdown to the post-season continues. This week in “There Goes My Season!” you will find appearances from Byron Buxton, Tyler Wells, Garrett Whitlock, Nick Senzel, Trevor Rogers, Eric Stout, and a few suspected others. In the cruelest twist of fate, Ozzie Albies broke his finger one day after returning from the […]

Pirates, much like Adam Levine, love themselves some booty. Booty, however, like the philospher Immanuel Kant once said, “Comes in different shapes and sizes.” Kevin Newman is one type of booty; a treasure chest you dig up in a backyard that is actually just a whole roasted pig your Hawaiian neighbors buried is another type of booty; the entire Pirates’ pitching staff is one type of booty; Rodolfo Castro is another type of booty. Cole Tucker dating Vanessa Hudgens is actually all types of booty rolled up into one. Her, good booty; him, bad booty; them together; a booty of surprising complexity. So, is Rodolfo Castro really just about being hot right now? Yes, you hundred-percent ding-dong! There’s only, like, twelve days left. I’m not talking about what he can do in a keeper or for 2023 fantasy. Do I think Rodolfo Castro has any hope in the big picture? Meh, Castro’s got too many red flags. All of them have a hammer and sickle too. Grab him now for now. Anyway, here’s some more players to Buy or Sell this week in fantasy baseball:
