The LABR Mixed Draft has historically kicked off my draft season. Not this year though. After a mediocre ‘early draft season’ performance (drafts before March 10th) in 2022, I vowed to get everything started earlier. By 2023 LABR draft day (Tues, Feb 21), I had one NFBC Draft Champions (15 team, 50 rounds) complete and […]

This Monday the RazzSlam starts; this Sunday I take part in LABR in Florida, which is where I am when you read this (if you read this on Saturday or Sunday). Wish me luck! I’m kidding. Luck is for goobers and the Irish. I don’t need luck! I have my Brians! Brians! Siri, I’m saying […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? This is a story as old as time. You enter the draft with the fervor of a hormone-raged teenager while donning a cap with YOLO embroidered on the front. Outfield? It’s super deep. Let me handle my business with the rest of the squad. So, you’ve got one hand on the steering wheel while the other is trying to find some good tunes on the radio as you cruise down the fantasy draft highway. The windows are down and the wind blows the hair into Picasso art. Round marker after round marker whizz by, then a dread encompasses the cabin of the car like a nasty fart; I need outfielders. With leagues requiring five outfielders, the once vast player pool dissipates quickly like a Sahara watering hole during the summer. One name that is often dredged up is Mike Yastrzemski. He is far from sexy and there’s a reason he’s in the dredges in the first place, but is he trash or a diamond in the rough?
Please, blog, may I have some more? This week on Knights Of The RazzTable we’re working with ADP 51-75 (https://nfc.shgn.com/adp/baseball). The easy picks are behind you as you get closer to pick 100 than pick 1. The middle rounds make are the glue of a great team. Round out your categories. Don’t completely neglect pitching. Demoralize opponents. Joining us this week are […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Freshmen mashing. Big-hype college arms answering the call and overlooked hurlers raising eyebrows. Star transfers being cleared to compete. And then there’s me, sitting in a ballpark seat taking it all in, chomping on some Trolli sour gummy worms, and trying to digest college baseball as it stands in the year 2023. Things look a little differently with the enforcement of the pitch clock and rules regulating pitchers’ abilities to throw to bases (or in some cases, forcing them to throw to bases). But the talent pool is still elite and so is the product. If you haven’t tuned in yet, I highly recommend that you do. There’s a whole other world of baseball out there waiting to be consumed, with a seemingly endless group of tomorrow’s MLB stars waiting in the wings. We’ll go over a handful of those players in this week’s Collegiate Corner.

Here, friend, are some catchers that I will be targeting at my 2023 fantasy drafts after the top options are gone. I’m not going to get into the strategy of punting catchers. Been there, half-drunkenly wrote that during the Ottoman Empire. Click on the player’s name where applicable to read more and see their 2023 projections and blurbs I wrote for them. This is a (legal-in-most-countries) supplement to the top 20 catchers of 2023 fantasy baseball. Now, guys and five girl readers, I am not saying avoid catchers like Tyler Stephenson if they fall, but, to get on this list, a catcher needs to be drafted later than 200 overall, and, yes, I will go around the entire infield, outfield and pitchers to target very late. In regards to the ADP in the parenthesis, NFBC is for two catcher leagues, so that should be taken into account. Anyway, here’s some catchers to target for 2023 fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more?76. Pirates 2B Termarr Johnson | 18 | A | 2025
A double-plus hit tool leads the way for Termarr Johnson, a 5’7” 175 lb left-handed hitter who calls Jose Ramirez to mind on a quick visual evaluation. The organization will be thrilled if Johnson follows a similar path, grinding his way up the chain before growing into power at the highest level. He’s off to a great start, slashing .275/.396/.450 with one home run and four stolen bases in 14 Low-A games. He also walked 18.9 percent of the time. Scouts have hung a lot of superlatives on Termarr. Some called him the best high school hitter they’ve ever seen. It’s a high bar, but I’m not going to bet against him.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Hey Razzball faithful! It’s great to have you back! I’m trusting that your eyesight has returned since the viewing of last week’s David Bowie picture. Now that that’s out of the way, I think it’s safe to conclude that all of those rule changes and how they will affect the running game has the baseball […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Grey and B_Don continue their positional preview of Grey’s rankings with the top 50 outfielders. We agree about Mike Trout’s greatness, and that’s about where the agreement ends. B_Don loves him some Michael Harris II, but Grey isn’t completely sold. The top of the position is filled with fantasy goodness and it seems to shift […]

Somehow, contact injuries are awful and non-contact injuries are even worse. It’s always something like, “Um, is that leg supposed to go in that direction?” It’s like three-quarters of someone’s body is going to get milk from the store and one leg is like, “Hey, I’m going to grab a burger.” Like most of someone’s body is headed to their friend’s house, and one random leg has the address typed into Waze for their friend’s home that they lived at in the 90’s. That happened to Gavin Lux heading to third base the other day. Gavin Lux tore his ACL and is out for the season. The good news is Miguel Vargas only has a fractured finger. I’ll be honest with you, unlike all those times I’ve lied through my teeth, I can’t get super excited for Vargas. I’ve tried. Boy George, have I tried! Now, he absolutely will get everyday at-bats though, so that moves him up in my 1st basemen rankings. Also, the top 500 for 2023 fantasy baseball was updated. Finally, the 2nd basemen rankings, which were depressing as it was, lost Lux and they really sux. Anyway, here’s what else I saw this preseason for 2023 fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more?International players like Kodai Senga are always a challenge to project. Aside from the subtle differences in the gameplay and the spirit of the league, the zeitgeist if you will, there’s also the potential language barrier and communication challenges. And then, there’s the equipment itself. So people do not realize that the ball in […]
