Howdy, Injury Enthusiasts! This week on Razzball Ambulance Chasers preseason coverage, my special guest Jordan White dropped by to discuss the trials and tribulations of injured players in the AL West. You may have seen Jordan around the baseball community. Maybe you have even played in some fantasy leagues with him. If you haven’t, you […]

Weekly Razzball news delivered straight to your inbox.
What’s poppin, Razzpimples? Fantasy baseball is already on the horizon! I say this every year: it really does sneak up on me each and every time. Nevertheless, I’m dead chuffed to have been handed the bullpen reins once again here at Razzball. As you and I shift our brain cells into baseball season mode, my […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Another NFL season is in the books, pitchers and catchers are reporting, and it’s time to turn up the heat on draft season. Yay! (By the way, if you haven’t joined any RCLs yet, you should consider signing up for a league or two in the planet’s most fun fantasy baseball contest!) We’ll continue our […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?“Whoa, how about that Blake Snell deal? What about that Cody Bellinger deal? Can you believe that Matt Chapman deal? This is crazy! Deals be dealin’!” That’s what I would be saying if there were any deals being dealin’. Sadly, the entire sport is being held captive by Scott Boras and “(fill-in team name) is currently not looking at signing any free agents.” The Yankees are one big arm away from having a great team, and instead are like, “Hey, when Rodon can only throw 45 innings, it’s no biggie. We have Luke Weaver.” So, instead of a big signing, we have injury news. Kyle Bradish has a tear in his UCL
Please, blog, may I have some more?Look who’s back! That’s right, The Lineup Builder (but you can call me “TLB” since we’re friends) is back. Grey and I avoided arbitration, and my contract was renewed for another year of fantasy baseball analysis. For those who followed my work here last season, thanks for rejoining the group. For those of you who […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?In my last post two weeks back, we broke down six preseason collegiate risers for the 2024 MLB Draft. That list included prospects who are firmly in the discussion for the first round or two of this July’s draft but were not initially included in my way-too-early rankings back in late August. That list included LHP Josh Hartle of Wake Forest, but in fact, all three members of the Demon Deacon weekend rotation are top-35 draft prospects per MLB Pipeline: Hartle (No. 13), RHP Chase Burns (No. 16) and RHP Michael Massey (No. 31). This leaves us with a series of questions. What exactly is a Demon Deacon? Why does the Wake Forest mascot have buttcheeks for a chin? Why does he ride a motorcycle? Isn’t the term “Demon Deacon” an oxymoron? Am I a moron? And how does a rising albeit non-blue blood program like Wake Forest come to possess three weekend starters all with the potential to go in the first round?
Please, blog, may I have some more? The best 2024 fantasy baseball team is a misnomer. Thankfully, none of us know what misnomer means. Sounds to me like someone tentatively wants to date the Travelocity Gnome’s daughter, “Miss Gnome, er, you wanna grab some boba and chill?” Miss Gnome brushes back her hair and bats her eyelashes that are almost as long as her two-and-half foot body, “I’d love to,” but her voice is high-pitched, which is a turnoff, so you cancel plans with her repeatedly until she gets the hint. Sorry, Miss Gnome, gotta ghost ya because I like my women’s voices low like their stature. Any hoo! So the title is hyperbole. What was I gonna say, “The Mostly Kinda Good Fantasy Baseball Team?” You’ll get over your scoffing; I have faith in you. This is the best 2024 fantasy baseball team that I can put together when drafting from my top 100 for 2024 fantasy baseball and top 500 for 2024 fantasy baseball. Honestly, I could draft another 25 teams from those lists, and they’d all be different, but equally terrific…Well, one of the twenty-five would only be sorta terrific, but it would be really hard to tell which one that is. If I took Matt Olson in the 2nd round, everything after would change. If I took Trea Turner in the 1st round, everything after would change. I’ve previously gone over my 2024 fantasy baseball draft prep for the first few rounds and pitchers pairings. For this exercise, I’m taking Bobby Witt Jr. in the first, because, well, I want to feel alive, and I’ve never drafted him before.
Please, blog, may I have some more?26. Padres C Ethan Salas | 17 | AA | 2025
I’ll never have Salas on a roster. Nothing against him, really, just a matter of public-facing, real-baseball lists running him so high up the rankings that there’s no road back to dynasty baseball value. He’s already a top ten prospect in most places, and he’s just nowhere near that for our purposes. He’s in Double-A at 17, but he hit just .200 for nine games in High-A, so that’s an artificial placement to say the least. He’ll likely open back in High-A and should have to hit his way out. There’s absolutely no rush. At 6’2” 185 lbs, Salas moves smoothly behind the dish and receives and frames with a deft touch that’s a decade beyond his years. With a bat in his hands, he’s a dangerous lefty power hitter with a discerning eye. An elite prospect to be sure. Just not an ideal building block for our game.
Please, blog, may I have some more?In our 31st episode, Mike Couillard and Jeremy Brewer overview the NL Central to wrap our 2024 divisional preview series. Over the past six weeks weeks, we analyzed our favorite buys and identified sells on each team in a given division. However, before the NL Central preview, we open discussing the biggest baseball card release of the […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Yesterday, I told you how to draft your pitchers for 2024 fantasy baseball. I laid it out to you nice and simple (if you have a degree in “What The Hell Is Grey Talking About?” Not a PhD, mind you. Just a BS.) Today, we forget all that jabberwocky on the who-ha and get down to business old school-style (which means if you don’t comprehend, I will hit you over the head with a baseball bat signed by Joe Clark.) What I’m hoping to lay out to you is who do you draft 2nd, if you’ve drafted so and so first. For easy reference, the royal we will be using the Top 10 for 2024 Fantasy Baseball, top 20 for 2024 fantasy baseball, and the beginning of the top 100 for 2024 fantasy baseball. I’m going to assume you’re in a 12 team, 5×5, MI, CI, 5 OF, 1 Utility, 1 Catcher league, similar to our Razzball Commenter Leagues. (Sign up for multiple leagues, and beat the heck out of your frenemies or make new frenemies!) Anyway, here’s some pairings for the first two rounds of 2024 fantasy baseball drafts:
Please, blog, may I have some more?It certainly feels like the Rays make every pitcher they touch better. Just a few in the past few years have been Drew Rasmussen, Jeffery Springs, and last season pointed out by yours truly, Zach Eflin. In said article, I predicted the coronation of a king. I did something I hadn’t done to that point, […]
