Happy Monday, Razzball faithful! It’s been a week since the 2024 Father’s Day chaos, and the dust is starting to settle in MarmoVille. According to Alice Cooper, school’s almost out for summer, and we’re headed to the mid-point of our MLB season. What better time to get ourselves ready for a beautiful beach scene? I […]

It’s the run up to the 4th of July! These summer holidays are great ways to gauge your team. Pre-Memorial Day is when your veterans play. 4th of July is when you start rostering hot players on bad teams in hopes of a trade. Do we have a holiday in August? I suppose back to school is a holiday. When the kids are back in class, that’s when the cups of coffee propel your team to playoff victory. I’m not Nostradamus — I can’t see the July trade deadline moves any better than you can. But what I can do, is give you my weekly three adds and cast some shade on a player. Let’s see if we can help your team!
Please, blog, may I have some more?Howdy, y’all, and happy belated Summer Solstice. Everything in my home city of Milwaukee screams summer right now. Summerfest, one of the world’s largest music festivals, kicked off festivities this weekend; farmers’ markets are back in full swing; street festivals and bike races are closing roads all over the city. When it comes right down […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Orelvis Martinez was hit with an 80-game suspension, which is just a perfect encapsulation of the Jays’ season. It’s the Curse of Ohtani’s Plane is In-Flight to Toronto. Highly touted rookie comes up, plays in his 1st MLB game, 24 hours later, suspended for 80 games. That’s the land-speed record for PEDs. Was he taking […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?It has been a pretty hectic week for your resident Cookie Shop proprietor. A significant amount of baking has been involved, fittingly enough. So we shall dispense with the preamble this week and get straight into what you’re here for. What follows are our projections at time of writing as to who will be making […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?In our up and down world of fantasy baseball, identifying when to sell high on players benefiting from a streak of good fortune can be the difference between winning and losing your league. Every season brings its share of breakout stars, but also features players whose performance outpaces their underlying metrics. Recognizing these lucky streaks and capitalizing on them by moving players at their peak value can help you build a championship roster. In this week’s rendition of Hitter Profiles, we dive into the art of selling high on overperforming players, ensuring you stay ahead of your league and maximize your team’s potential.
Please, blog, may I have some more?We usually do a better job evaluating the pitchers than the hitters when it comes to streamers, but we crushed it with the bats last week. The pitchers were all over the map, but that has me motivated to bounce back this week. It looks like we have a stacked schedule, with the majority of […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Astros OF Joey Loperfido appears to have finally earned a lineup spot. Man that took forever, didn’t it? Or maybe I’ve just been in the sun too long these past couple days. Warps time a bit.
Athletics 3B Armando Alvarez was called up to take the place of 3B Abraham Toro. He’s 29 years old, so he’s unlikely to become a core piece for Oakland’s build, but I think he’s got at least a chance to stick around in a Joey Meneses kind of way. His past three seasons have netted positive wRC+ scores of 117 in 2022, 125 in 2023, and 132 in 2024, all in Triple-A as he stalled out waiting for a major league opportunity with the Yankees, Giants and Athletics. Unlike Meneses and a lot of these late-stage DH types, Alvarez provides solid defense at the hot corner. Over his last 20 games, he’s slashing .388/.456/.663 with five home runs and one stolen base. If not now, when?
Please, blog, may I have some more? With the 19th overall pick in the 2017 draft, the San Francisco Giants selected Heliot Ramos out of Puerto Rico.
Ramos, whose brother Henry played for the Diamondbacks in 2021 and the Reds last season, possessed one of the better power/speed combinations in his draft class. He signed for just more than $3,000,000 and entered the realm of Top 100 prospect in 2018, ranked as the 79th best prospect by Baseball America, 63rd by MLB Pipeline and 61st by Baseball Prospectus.
He remained in the top 100 through 2022, ranking as high as 32nd by BP, and was selected to appear in three Futures Games. However, the road to success in the majors has not been a straight line for Ramos as he has spent parts of the last eight years in the minors, including starting this season at Triple-A Sacramento.
Since joining the Giants on May 8 when Jorge Soler got hurt along with a slew of other outfielders, it has become impossible to take Ramos out of the lineup as he is finally showing why the Giants selected him in the first round way back in ’17.
It has been a slow march, but let’s examine why I consider him an up-and-coming dynasty player.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Tampa Bay Rays outfielder slash hearth throb slash not-the-brother of Brandon slash master platoon extraordinaire Josh Lowe continued his hot hitting with his fourth and fifth home runs Friday night off Luis Ortiz going 3-for-5 with four RBI and leading the Rays to their third win in a row. The first tank went over 400 […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Welcome back to another rousing edition of Razzball Ambulance Chasers, your fantasy baseball injury report. I was kept busy this week with all of the injuries coming out of the Dodgers. Mookie Betts, Walker Buehler, and Yamamoto all leave voids in the Dodgers roster. It’s a good thing the Dodgers’ pockets are deep because they […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Talked a bit about this on the podcast — you might’ve heard my fifteen different pronunciations of Noelvi Marte. No-el-vee? No-el-Vey? Noelgallaghervee? Some classic “Grey can’t speakisms” in there. Any hoo! — I don’t think PEDs, in the traditional sense, is a thing for most of these guys who are busted in recent years. Maybe […]
