I made a huge mistake this season. Spencer Schwellenbach was one of my favorite SP targets throughout the year and I was scooping him up around his ADP where I could. The Braves magically formed another ace named Spencer out of thin air and I was not missing the boat this time. Sadly–in one of […]

Wearing my white seersucker suit and standing in front of a jury, “I am Matlock. The guy Matlock, not the Kathy Bates reboot. Now, cheating as defined in Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary, “To act dishonestly or unfairly, especially in a game. Nowhere does it say ‘Hanging out with Fernando Tatis Sr. is a crime.’ Nowhere does it […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?I don’t want to open this week up on a negative note, but I have to say that I think this is the first time in years I’ve actually kind of been looking forward to the All Star Break. I’ve overextended myself in terms of how many teams I have this year (no surprise to […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? The singular of fireworks is firework, but sounds weird. A professional wrestler who pretends to be a fireman for his character. That’s a firework. Speaking of firemen, Happy 4th of July or as firemen call it, “Why did you put a Roman Candle in your butt and aim it at your house? Dumb move, especially […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? The similarities between Ernie Clement of the Toronto Blue Jays and Hall of Famer Robert Clemente are striking. Both are listed at 5′ 11″ and weigh in the 170-pound range. Both were right-handed batters. Both didn’t exhibit robust power early on, but have never had a strikeout rate close to 20%. Both….Ok, I’ll stop now. To […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?My final deep dive into the middle infield depth charts of an entire division. The NL West isn’t too shabby — and it’s deep.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Major League Baseball has now played 14 of 26 weeks this season, which means we have some statistical basis, but not a whole season, to evaluate players for our fantasy baseball squads. With Opening Day well past us and the dog days of summer in our faces, who have been some of the more interesting […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?In our 97th episode, Mike Couillard and Jeremy Brewer open by trying to determine what on earth is happening with the medical staff in Houston along with other transactions, including the call-up of Mike’s favorite, Yanquiel Fernandez. Then we discuss players that can help in specific categorical needs for grinding out roto points down the stretch. You […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Yesterday was the day of doubleheaders and no one had a bigger doubleheader…Damn it, Darren Aronofsky, all I can think about is Jennifer Connelly in Requiem for a Dream! Seriously, he ruined me for not only any mention of doubleheaders but I just hear the word “double” and I start to think I know where […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Yankees OF Spencer Jones (24) graduated Double-A last week and already has two home runs in three Triple-A games. It’ll be interesting to see how the club handles him during the trade deadline because he’s still striking out a lot (33.7% in AA), and the team doesn’t have much room at the inn. They’ve been benching Jasson Dominguez and Paul Goldschmidt at times since Giancarlo Stanton returned. Bit of a double-edged sword for dynasty players because Jones might be better off in an organization with more roster flexibility, but that would quash the dream of housing the 6’7” 240 lb lefty in Yankee Stadium.

Please, blog, may I have some more? This is certainly a transition year in the corner infield position. Stalwarts like Bryce Harper, Freddie Freeman, and Paul Goldschmidt can’t be counted on for much longer. Christian Walker might be cooked. But from the ashes, new blood emerges. Well, it kinda has to, every team needs someone at the positions. It is after all […]
