We’ve got some great bargain pitching options today. Take advantage and use the savings to lock up the big bats. A great option on the mound is Yusei Kikuchi (SP: $7,700) Good news, he’s not facing the Astros today. On tap is a Royals team that checks near the bottom in everything but average. While they are capable of getting on base they struggle to do anything with those runners and are 24th in runs scored. Unfortunately, they don’t strike out a ton but that won’t be enough to save them from Kikuchi. I love the potential return on investment that he offers.

Patrick Corbin, SP: $7,200 – If you’re really looking to save your money for bats you can always roll the dice on Corbin. He just reminded us that he can put up big games with a 43 point performance last time out. The big game potential is there against the Marlins and their swing and miss offense, good for the 3rd most in the league. They also don’t hit that many home runs which bodes well for our man Patrick.
Alex Wood, SP: $8,200 – Back-to-back strong outings give me the confidence to fire him up against a Mets team that has been struggling at the plate in the month of August. Chasing wins is a dicey proposition but the G-men keep rolling on and he has a price that makes it easier to stomach.
Ryan Mountcastle, C/1B: $3,400 – His team may be on a million game slide. but it’s not Ryan’s fault. He’s hit well in August with a top 10 OPS to go along with 6 dongs and 4 doubles. Oh yeah, and he’s the bot’s top-rated first baseman.
Paul Goldschmidt, C/1B: $3,800 – Nice to see Goldy finally heating up as the Cards make their playoff push. The multi-hit games are great to see and he still has the legs to swipe a bag here and there. This is not a daunting match up so don’t be afraid to start him.
Josh Rojas, 2B: $3,000 – When you can snag the bot’s number two option at the keystone for this price, you do it. Joshy Rojas can do a little bit of everything so he’s always finding ways to score points. Baseball is life so live it up.
Tommy Edman, 2B: $3,000 – The leadoff spot has been good for him to show off his speed and rack up fantasy points. You have to love the doubles and the threat to swipe a bag whenever he’s on the basepaths. For this price, he’s a very compelling option today.
Rafael Devers, 3B: $4,000 – This is why we went bargain hunting at pitcher. Devers is the top hitter option today and that always gets my attention. We know he’s got that power bat although August hasn’t been his best power month. That means he’s due for a binge to close it out.
Yoshitomo Tsutsugo, 3B: $2,400 – If Devers price tag isn’t to your liking and you feel like getting real weird with it, Yoshi is your man. He’s posted three big games over his past seven and the bot is in on him today. Scared money don’t make money so be bold.
Tim Anderson, SS: $4,100 – Leg soreness got in the way of a nice hot streak. No time like the present for him to get back to it.
Bo Bichette, SS: $3,600 – Bo is having a fine season and becoming a fantasy star before our eyes. He does have a tough matchup today but he’s got more than enough talent to come through.
Shohei Ohtani, OF: $4,500 – He’s the best power hitter in the game right now so you gotta pay up for him. Home runs win fantasy contests and no one hits dongs better than the Sho. This is a juicy match-up in a park hitters love. Even if he’s not crushing bombs he can rack up doubles and swipe some bags or beat out infield singles that look routine. Basically, he can do it all.
Franmil Reyes, OF: $3,100 – Franimal is ready to do some big things today. He’s got the power bat to make it happen even if his slash line doesn’t look all that impressive.
Cedric Mullins, OF: $3,100 – Cedric has taken the league by storm and the hits just keep on coming. He’s slowed a bit of late but the bot likes him to rally today and I think we’ve seen enough to trust him to turn it around.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
It will feel like 108 in Baltimore today so that’s neat. We’re also looking at lots of humidity across the board
Doing Lines In Vegas
We’re staring at a couple of 10s today for the Angels/O’s and Red Sox/Twins. All those bats are in play.
