Happy weekend DFSers! Today marks the first day of vacation for yours truly and I’ll be out today enjoying summer in Maine. Summer in Maine is basically crazy humidity, lots of bugs and an ocean that will give you hyperthermia after about 10 minutes of standing in it. Sounds great! I’ll be back tonight for some DFS though, gotta pay for vacation somehow. FanDuel has a 10 game slate for us tonight and I’ll be pumping plenty of lineups full of Luis Castillo ($10,500). Expensive? Yes, but he’s also your bet for a huge point total and that’s exactly what we’re looking for on FanDuel when you only have one pitching slot. A 2.41 ERA and near 11 K-rate will do that for you. The Cards have been brutal, currently sporting a bottom six team OPS vs. righties and a bottom seven overall. Lock and load with Saint Luis and enjoy your windfall.
New to FanDuel? Scared of feeling like a small fish in a big pond? Well, be sure to read our content and subscribe to the DFSBot for your daily baseball plays. Just remember to sign up through us before jumping into the fray. It’s how we know you care!
Rick Porcello, SP: $7,000 – Porcello has been awful, but hear me out. I’ve mentioned this in past articles that batters going into Baltimore get the Coors treatment and pitchers going into Baltimore get the Petco treatment. Baltimore is bottom three in team OPS and slick Rick should be able to get out of there with a win.
Griffin Canning, SP: $6,900 – Speaking of bad team OPS, Seattle has been brutal in the month of July (.659). Granted, they haven’t been worse than Baltimore (.654) but that’s being the best of the worst. Canning should easily handle the Mariners and I like the savings here.
Framber Valdez, SP: $6,000 – Not for the faint of heart, but a great way to set yourself apart in a GPP. Since most people will simply overlook him as he’s not starting, he will be very low owned. Also, he’s been dreadful. Maybe, just maybe he’ll be fixed by following an opener, ala Felix Pena. It’s crazy, or crazy like a fox, you decide.
C.J. Cron, C/1B: $3,400 – Cron is pretty hit or miss, it’s going to be a homer or nada, but like Ricky Bobby said, if you’re not first, you’re last.
Joc Pederson, C/1B: $2,900 – I kinda love that platooning and his bad average keeps Joc’s price so low. He’s the leadoff hitter against righties for one of the best offenses in baseball.
Mitch Garver, C/1B: $3,700 – The most expensive player I’m recommending for this slot is a catcher…and it makes sense! I’m definitely looking at Twins stack against Brett Anderson. The Twins offense does bad things to pitchers.
Jose Altuve, 2B: $3,900 – Second base is dreadful. I was really hoping FanDuel would have moved Chavis to second by now to give us a nice cheap option. I’m likely either paying up for Altuve or Muncy or just completely punting.
Rougned Odor, 2B: $2,500 – Well, we punted and here we are. All you can hope for is a deep ball off the aforementioned horrible Valdez.
Josh Donaldson, 3B: $3,500 – I don’t think I’m going lower than Josh tonight, after $3,500 it gets pretty ugly. I’d really love to be able to afford Devers, but that isn’t easy.
Dansby Swanson, SS: $3,100 – I like the Braves to beat up on Anibal Sanchez tonight. Call it a hunch, but I’ll try to squeeze one or two in.
Andrelton Simmons, SS: $2,800 – Don’t look now, but Simmons has been heating up since after the All Star Break. Remember how good he was looking before the injury? This could be a good time to hop on while he’s still cheap.
Alex Gordon, OF: $3,100 – Plutko is pretty bad, but so are the Royals. Gordon is easily one of their best hitters and an easy way to save some dough in the OF.
Alex Verdugo, OF: $3,100 – Grey just dropped Verdugo knowledge on us yesterday showing he’s top 25 on the 30 day player rater. Top 25 in the past 30 days and still this cheap? Value!
Jesse Winker, OF: $2,900 – Winker is incredibly boom or bust and has the platoon advantage on Miles Mikolas. If you’re looking for a cheap bat that could help win a GPP, look no further.
Jackie Bradley Jr., OF: $2,500 – Just a cheap Coors…errr…hitter in Baltimore. Stack those Sawx!
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Holy hot and humid Razzballers! It’s going to be nasty out there in Baltimore, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. All cities will be over 100 degrees and humid. That’s a boost to bats and makes me want to never starts a pitcher ever again.
Doing Lines In Vegas
Due to the hot temps we’ve got 10.5 and 11 run over unders plastered across the board. There’s going to be fireworks folks. The loan low over/under is Dodgers @ Marlins with an 8 run over under and the Dodgers as huge favorites (-310). Kershaw vs. Alcantara will do that.
