What a great looking Monday slate today we have on tap for our viewing pleasure. 13 games to be played 10 more than last Monday and I can’t wait to watch some of these games as the runs are coming fast and furious and I don’t see that letting up anytime soon. Some of these teams have woefully bad bullpens and with the weather heating up them balls will be flying out of the parks. Pitching is going to be extra important to get right so do your homework and make sure your pitching spot is locked in with a top pitcher that day and then hit on a couple of one-off bats potentially to get different in tournament play. Don’t be afraid to leave $ on the table sometimes and use that C/1B on a C as most people don’t like to roster a C. All right let’s dive into our profile pitcher Sean Manaea ($9,900). Manaea has always been a little underperforming in my eyes and kind of just blah but taking a closer look into his year so far offers some interesting takeaways. The first thing I noticed was he started throwing a curveball to go along with his sinker and changeup and has thrown the curveball around 15% so far this season which is just enough to keep the hitters thinking about it. Manaea got rid of his slider as well and if you remember last season Manaea was getting lit up at the beginning of the season and nobody was playing him and pissed off they drafted him. These changes he was working with was obviously affecting him and he needed time to work through it. This season his numbers have looked tremendously better and he is having one of his best starts to the season in his career. What you like to see his the barrel % is below average and his BB rate is low. Manaea is around the plate so batters will make contact but it’s ground balls and popups that are being hit and Manaea doesn’t seem to be getting into many jams and has been throwing nice clean games this season. Manaea faces the Angels today who he has faced 2 times already this year with good outings and Manaea has pitched well at home this year. The Angels are coming off a sweep of the Diamondbacks and although it’s not necessarily a far travel time from Arizona it’s still a road trip and Manaea had the benefit of staying in town all weekend and getting ready for his start. I think you will see a solid start from Manaea with the potential of it being outstanding 7 INN 5 Hits 1 ER 8 k’s today is what I’m seeing here.

SP- JT Brubaker ($6,900) JT is one of these guys (Love the Initials) that has a full 5 pitch mix and throws them all well with great command and doesn’t allow much hard contact. JT has an elite BB rate, his K rate is solid as well, and he knows how to pitch with runners on base if he does allow a hit or two. The Pirates play the Nationals today with Lester on the mound so the Pirates have a good shot of winning the game and I like to root for this team as I think they have some solid players for the future and I think JT is definitely one of them. I’m not including Lynn or Glasnow as I think there is some regression coming from Lynn and the White Sox do have bats that can give Glasnow problems.
C/1B- Sal Perez ($3,000 ) Remember I mentioned not many people like starting a C here. Perez has been outstanding this season and faces Boyd who is extremely vulnerable to hard hits which Sal has not plenty of so far. I think this is a perfect storm of matchups where Salvy takes him deep today. Sal will have ownership but you are playing some lower-owned pitchers and you can pretty much play whoever you want anyway.
2B- Jazz Chisholm Jr.($3,100) Jazz is always getting hits and scoring runs and that’s what you need from this position as well as the occasional HR and he can definitely take one out. You do have to deal with his K rate which is rather dreadful but oh the prospect of the long ball from your 2B is worth it. Jazz faces Adam Wainwright who has performed well this season but if the Marlins can get into the Cardinal bullpen Jazz could have a couple of good opportunities to put one out late.
3B- Eugenio Suarez ($2,700) Although Eugenio is batting subpar .200 still he had a great series against Colorado and gets to face a soft toss pitcher in Eric Lauer. Eugenio’s barrel % is at top of the leaderboard and I don’t think Lauer has the ability to fool him today and he finds one to take out of the park.
SS- Francisco Lindor ($3,000) Lindor is on an upward trajectory and has had hits in multiple games recently. Lindor hit one out on Saturday against the Padres and I think another one is around the corner. Lindor hasn’t stolen a base in June yet which leads me to believe one is coming as well. The Mets square off against the Cubs and Jake Arrieta so you know there will be some hard contact in this matchup.
OF- Tommy Pham ($3,300 ) The Pham man has been hitting well and has been batting at the top of the Padre lineup lately. Pham has been getting on base at a great clip lately making the pitcher work deep into counts and more often than not drawing a walk and then wreaking havoc on the basepaths with his 11 steals so far this season. Hitting below .200 with an OPS of .626 on May 26, Pham has upped his average to .237 and an OPS of .729. Pham had 2 multi-hit games this weekend with a HR and faces a lefty in Austin Gomber where his power lies.
OF- Mark Canha ($3,800) Canha was given the day off on Saturday and the rest did him good as he had two hits and an RBI on Sunday against the Royals. Canha does all the things you need him to do scores runs, steals bases, makes hard contact, walks. A little bit of just about everything he has a big floor on which to work with and if you get a HR that’s icing on the cake. Faces Bundy today which is not scary and Canha hits righties as well as he does lefties so no issue here.
OF- Mitch Haniger ($3,200) Mitch has been making solid contact this year and faces Maeda who has had a rough start to the season. Mitch has had hits in 6 out of the last 7 games and has been barreling the ball up so far with 16 HR and 40 RBI’s. I bet Maeda makes a mistake to Haniger today and Mitch will be waiting for it. (Some injury concerns here so watch lineups to see if he plays)
UTIL- Cedric Mullins ($3,300) Cedric got the day off yesterday and I love taking guys that had a day off and then play them the next day. This seems to get the player rejuvenated and they are eager to get back in the batter’s box the next day and tee one-off. I see that happening day against Jean Carlos Mejia who is making his 2nd start after the 1st one against the Cardinals did not go good and he did not get out of the 1st inning. Mullins does not strike out much, makes good contact, and steals bases again filling out your stat line while providing power in the form of 9 HR’s so far this year.
