This article covers the August 11th, All-Day Slate, on FanDuel that starts at 1:05 pm Eastern time with Miami vs. Philadelphia and ends with the Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinnati that starts at 7:15 pm Eastern Time. Kyle Farmer going against Drew Smyly is one of my favorite plays on this slate along with Yordan Alvarez ($4,300)  People will not want to play Yordan with the lefty-lefty matchup, and while Alvarez is worse against lefties than righties, his numbers are still pretty good. He has a .381 wOBA and a .265 ISO against LHP while he has a .457 wOBA and .369 ISO against RHP. What are the other picks? Check it out.

This slate features Coors Field and that game should be high scoring, especially on the Rockies side, with Dakota Hudson pitching for Saint Louis. You can play any players you like in that game and it would be fine.  What I want to do is go beyond just Coors Field.

Dylan Cease, SP: $10,900 – He is the most expensive pitcher on the slate but also the best one. He has a 3.22 SIERA (best on the slate) and a 32.8% strikeout rate (best on the slate). He is pitching to Kansas City and the White Sox should be favored. The only concern I have is the 10.5% walk rate; if he does not have command it can get ugly.

Kyle Gibson, SP: $9,000 – Gibson pitches to the Miami Marlins. He has a 4.25 SIERA and an 18.4% strikeout rate, two stats that don’t jump off the page. At the same time, this is a Miami team that is struggling offensively and is probably the cheapest pitcher I would be comfortable with in my lineup today.

Josh Naylor, C/1B: $3,300 -Garrett Hill has a 5.69 SIERA, allows 1.42 HR/9, and has a 2.2% K-BB%. He has a .324 OBP and a .209 ISO.

Yuli Gurriel, C/1B: $2,400 – Gurriel has a .315 wOBA and .179 ISO against LHP. The Astros are implied for 5.3 runs.

Harold Castro, 2B: $2,200 – I love punting second base on a slate like this. Plesac has a 4.47 SIERA. Why not get someone in the middle of the order against this pitcher at almost a punt price?

Aledmys Diaz, 3B: $2,500 – Cole Ragans is not good and Diaz has a .329 wOBA and .179 ISO against LHP.

This article has three Houston Astros written up. In a cash game, I would not play more than two of those three recommended.

Kyle Farmer, SS: $2,900 – The Reds will see Drew Smyly on the mound. Farmer has a .410 wOBA and .245 ISO against LHP this season.

Kerry Carpenter, OF: $2,000 – Who? (Insert Snoop Dogg meme here). Carpenter is a prospect who suddenly cut down his strikeout rate and became a slugger this season. At a minimum price, potentially batting in the middle of the order against a pitcher with a 4.47 SIERA doesn’t sound too bad.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

No rain in the forecast at the moment! Play ball!

Doing Lines In Vegas

I will take the Rockies at +105. This game should be high scoring and when there is some chaos, I am interested in the underdog.
