Happy Independence Day America! I always like to celebrate by watching this little production from Newcastle. It always bring a smile to my face. We’ve got a short slate of games tonight because most of them are going off during the day, my picks are also short because I’ve been enjoying America a little too much this morning.
I’ll be bringing you my DFS picks for the main evening slate on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023. If you play on DraftKings, it is an 5-game slate starting at 5:40 Central time. This article will be primarily focused on the DraftKings slate, so if you play on Fanduel I encourage you to sign up for the DFS tools to help you make the best decisions for your lineups on FanDuel, DraftKings, and Yahoo.
New to DFS? You can start playing right now on FanDuel and put our picks to the test. Shohei Ohtani, SP: $11,500. The price is high, but on this short slate I don’t see how you can leave him out of your lineups in Double-ups. Maybe you could fade him in some tournaments. He faces the Padres tonight in Petco.
JP Sears, SP: $5,600. Sears has been consistent if not remarkable as of late with 6 of his last 9 starts earning 15+ points in DK. He’ll get a nice match-up against the Tigers in Detroit.
Danny Jansen, C: $2,900. Jansen is having a nice offensive campaign as far as power goes with 10 Home Runs in 168 at-bats. He’ll look to continue it against Lucas Giolito tonight.
Josh Bell, 1B: $2,800. Kolby Allard had a nice return to the majors last week against the Twins going 4.2 IP giving up just three hits while striking out eight and walking just one. That being said he’s got a career 5.95 ERA so some Guardians stacks could be in play tonight.
Ozzie Albies, 2B: $5,600. Yes he’s expensive, but he’s also the only second baseman worth anything on this small slate. There’s Tim Anderson at $4,200 or All-Star Whit Merrifield at $3,700? I’ll pass. He’ll face off against Shane Bieber in Cleveland tonight.
Jake Burger, 3B: $4,100. Quietly having a real nice first half for the Pale Hose. Give the man some ketch-up and fries to go with his 18 Home Runs. Burger will take on the Bassitt Hound tonight in Chicago. Bassitt has been very inconsistent lately.
Bo Bichette, SS: $5,100. This is one of those prices I just don’t get. Should be much more for Bichette and his .317 BA, 15 Home Runs and 51 RBIs. Oh well. I’ll take it!
Ronald Acuna Jr., OF: $6,500. Tildaddy has hit safely in 13 straight games and included in that streak are 6 bombs. I think he’s gonna make The Biebs sing a sad tune.
Oscar Colas, OF: $2,300. Colas will be recalled for tonight’s game after homering seven times in his last ten games at AAA. We’ll see if he can get his swing to translate up the majors and stick this time or if we can call him Jo Adell 2.0.
Jack Suwinski, OF: $3,600. He doesn’t hit for a ton of average, and he’s actually gotten lucky in that department, but it’s hard to beat this price for a guy with 17 Home runs.
