Spent the weekend in Vegas with a bunch of pro sports handicappers and I think I am still hungover. If you haven’t had a chance to experience the sports mecca that is Circa Las Vegas and Stadium Swim I highly recommend it. Best place to watch games in Vegas hands down. We have reached the last Tuesday in August and with it, what seemingly every year is the turning of DFS player’s calendars from daily baseball lineups to Million Dollar Football contests. I am here to tell you that as players shift gears there are still plenty of chances to cash in baseball and perhaps less overall talent in the contests. My two biggest baseball contest DFS cashes have both come in September. Here’s to hoping I add August 30th, 2022 to that list. We’ll kick things off with Brady Singer ($8,900) at SP. There’s something about the White Sox that always scares me a little against the Royals, but they can’t beat anyone so I’m on board with Singer. He has put up 20 points in 6 of his last 8 contests and struck out 6+ batters in 7 of 8. Two of those starts came against these White Sox. In the first he got roughed up for 11 hits and 4 runs over 6 innings, but in the second he went 7.1 allowing just one run. I think the White Sox are mailing it in on La Russa and hoping to get a manager born after the start of the 20th century. In the last two weeks their team scoring output hasn’t topped out over 5 runs and they are averaging just under 3 runs per game. If you don’t get the title I’m sorry, but I can’t help you.
I’ll be bringing you my DFS picks for the main evening slate on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022. If you play on DraftKings, it is a 12-game slate starting at 6:05 Central time. This article will be primarily focused on the DraftKings slate, so if you play on Fanduel I encourage you to sign up for the DFS tools to help you make the best decisions for your lineups on FanDuel, DraftKings, and Yahoo.

George Kirby, SP: $8,500. Dude set a record for consecutive strikes to begin an outing during his last start. George gets the Tigers tonight, and their MLB worst .598 OPS vs right handed pitching. That’s right folks! Team OPS under .600. They also just got done pummeling the Tigers bullpen so a trip back to earth should be in store for the Kings of the Jungle. Back to Kirby, he has allowed 7 ER over his last 24.1 IP with a 29 to 2 K/BB ratio. He’s coming in hot against a bad team and I think getting these two starters are great values in both cash and contests.
Shea Langeliers, C: $3,000. Langeliers has cooled off a little from his quick start, but still has the tools and opportunity to perform well at this price. Erick Fedde will face him tonight and he has struggled to a 4.88 ERA with a 7.00 K/9.
Matt Olson, 1B: $5,100. Olson will face Jose Urena and the Rockies at home tonight. Urena was lit up for 9 runs over 1.1 IP his last outing at home against the Rangers. He should improve from that debacle, but he still has a 5.98 ERA on the year and a 7.88 ERA this month. Gonna get me some Braves in the lineup tonight. Olson has hit safely in 7 of his last 10 with 4 multi-hit efforts and 2 home runs in that span.
Kolten Wong, 2B: $3,100. Wong suddenly woke up this weekend homering twice against the Cubs after having only 1 multi-hit effort and one Home Run the entire month of August prior to that. I’m going to see if he stays hot against Mitch Keller and the Pirates on Tuesday. Keller had a very good July with a 2.61 ERA, but has struggled his last three times out in August. I think the Pirates keep him on a short leash to limit innings as well. The Brewers have a chance to get back into things over the next week with the Pirates, Diamondbacks, and Rockies. It’s now or never so I am betting on the Crew to perform this week.
Luis Rengifo, 3B: 4,000. I think Rengifo has found a way to continue to grow as a hitter throughout the season. He has dropped his K-rate to a career best 15.9%. He has been primarily hitting cleanup behind Trout and Ohtani and with Trout back in the lineup, he has really made some good things happen. “Rengifo went from off the radar to on sleeper radars in three weeks,” And That’s me quoting Grey. He has hit safely in 13 of 15 with 4 Home runs over that span. The opposing pitcher tonight will be Jameson Taillon who has been solid at 12-4 with a 3.89 ERA. Here’s to him going back-to-back-to-back nights with a long ball.
Dansby Swanson, OF: $5,300. It’s the next piece on the stack some Braves train. Dansby just hit his second home run of the month which followed up a two homer July so to say the power stroke hasn’t been there is an understatement. He is still seeing the ball well as the average remains at .289. Hopefully, he gets hot again starting tonight.
Andrew McCutchen, OF: $3,700. Cutch has been striking out more than I’d like to see, but I still like playing him vs Keller tonight. It’s Miller Time!
Hunter Renfroe, OF: $4,000. Same story here. Higher Home Run potential than anyone else in this price range. (Considered Franmil Reyes here as well) It’s Time for a Refill!
Daulton Varsho, OF: $4,400. Closing the lineup out here was a tough choice and I almost cut some price elsewhere, but I think Varsho has been seeing the ball well enough the last week that even opposing Aaron Nola isn’t a deterrence for me. Nola has been better on the road, but park factors in Arizona are similar to Philly. Hoping for a little Daulton Dong tonight!
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Strong winds blowing out potentially in New York, Cleveland, and Detroit. A sagging cold front is drifting south and east and will present storm chances in DC, Atlanta, New York and Cincinnati.

Brady Singer is my pick in DFS and right now at +135 I’m taking a shot on the Royals to win tonight. (Edit – This line got hammered down to +110. I’m still playing it.)
