I’m dead serious that I don’t think FanDuel could make Jacob deGrom ($11,500) expensive enough that I would move off of him on any slate. What deGrom is doing right now is just unreal. You could get cute, and drop down to another pitcher, but do you really want to start the day out behind 30 points when deGrom goes for 75? I’d rather have some fun digging up cheap bats than risk fading deGrom right now. deGrom is at home and the Phils are middle of the pack in team OPS while also ranking in the top ten in team strikeouts. Bryce Harper is the only threat we have to worry about, he has taken deGrom deep twice in his career, but I’m not worried, deGrom is just on another planet right now.

Patrick Corbin, SP: $8,800 – I know I just wrote a paragraph about not fading deGrom, BUT, for GPP purposes, or porpoises, I could see firing a couple of bullets and hoping that this is the day deGrom becomes mortal. This one is trusting the process and the fact that Corbin has been good lately but people might still be scared off by that high season ERA. The bots love this start for Corbin and I definitely think he’s worth a GPP bullet at this price.
Dinelson Lamet, SP: $7,500 – I’m going to focus on the early slate mostly today since that’s the larger slate and I love me a large slate. If you’re playing the main slate, I love Lamet in this spot against Arizona on the road. Arizona is pretty pitiful and Arizona on the road is even more so. The only fear is that Lamet only pitches 3 innings, but I think he makes it 5 or 6 and strikes out 7 or 8.
Freddie Freeman, C/1B: $3,000 – Luis Castillo has been fun to stack against this year. The Braves and Freeman are ready for some positive regression and Castillo should be able to help with that.
Ryan O’Hearn, C/1B: $2,6000 – Kyle Gibson is going to blow up eventually and we all want to be there when it happens. O’Hearn has been hot and has power to spare. I like him for a cheap bop today.
Luke Voit, C/1B: $2,6000 – Voit is another source of cheap power, this time on the main slate. Jump on this price before it’s $1,000 more after a hot streak.
Jeff McNeil, 2B: $2,600 – The Mets against Zach Eflin is my favorite stack of the day. I’m really enjoying these players fresh off DL stints all coming in at cheap prices. McNeil is a top bat on the day at a tiny price. Lock him in.
Michael Chavis, 2B: $2,300 – With only four games on the main slate, there’s going to be some overlap, we have another play from the Sawx vs. Yanks in Chavis. Chavis has been leading off occasionally and should be again versus the lefty Montgomery.
Austin Riley, 3B: $2,800 – A clean-up hitter against a struggling pitcher for under three grand? Where do I sign up? Oh, right here in my DFS lineup, perfect.
Miguel Andujar, 3B: $2,300 – Braves/Mets in the afternoon and Sawx/Yanks in the evening seems like the plays of the day. Andujar is near min-priced and should easily pay off this price tag.
Willy Adames, SS: $2,400 – Paying up for deGrom means we have to dig in the bargain bin elsewhere. I’d love to roster Story here or Lindor, but if we need to go even cheaper and Dansby ($2,500) doesn’t fit into your ATL stack, Adames is a nice consolation against Senzatela and his 4.83 ERA.
Fernando Tatis Jr., SS: $4,700 – It’s going to be very difficult to fade Tatis on a four-game slate. Xander works with a Boston stack and will likely be the highest rostered SS on the day, this could be a spot where paying up for the top option actually sets you apart from the field.
Kyle Schwarber, OF: $3,500 – Speaking of hard to fade, it’s almost impossible to fade Schwarber right now with the heater he’s on. I’m not sure why anyone is pitching to him at this point.
Michael Conforto, OF: $2,700 – Our BvP special of the day, Conforto has three dongs off Eflin in his career and is still cheap since coming off the DL. Take advantage of those cheap dongs while you can.
Nick Solak, OF: $2,500 – Solak has struggled against righties, luckily, he’ll be facing lefty Kris Bubic today where he should be able to pay off his lowered price tag.
Hunter Renfroe, OF: $2,700 – Our final piece of the Sawx/Yanks puzzle tonight is some more cheap power with Renfroe. Renfroe has the platoon advantage on Montgomery and can easily push us to the top of a GPP.
Wil Myers, OF: $2,500 – Merrill Kelly and his 5+ ERA is always a fun target, so we can try to squeak in a few cheap Padres where possible tonight.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
It is hot and humid everywhere this weekend, but it looks like the rain should hold off for us. Still, check the radar before lock.
Doing Lines In Vegas
Lamet and the Padres are the biggest favorites today at -260, just a hair better than deGrom and the Mets at -250. Vegas must know the Mets don’t score runs for deGrom. Despite that and the teeny-tiny 6.5 run total in that game, I like the Mets to do some damage. Give me the over and the Mets to win that handily. The biggest over/under is in Boston, 10 runs, which makes that game the biggest target on the evening slate.
