Welcome to the most wonderful time of the year. It’s Prospector Christmas/Holidays/Festivus/Chanukah it’s Top 100 Prospects list time. Michael Halpern my cunning co-host, and I discuss the differences in our Top Prospect lists. Halp decided to be an overachiever and went a full 200 prospects over on his site Imaginarybrickwall.com. It’s brilliant, check it out. We flip flop Yoan Moncada and Andrew Benintendi in our rankings. We then fight over Benintendi, and make up over Austin Meadows. We have some big swings on Cody Bellinger, Manuel Margot, Francis Martes, and Kyle Tucker. We mix in a little talk about my affinity for hit tool first baseman that no one else likes. Then Halp wonders how Stephen Gonsalves ended up on his Top 100 and not mine. It’s the latest episode of The Razzball Fantasy Baseball Prospect Podcast.

    Damn, I’m definitely drinking the Benny kool-aid! I have him in a keeper league and have already had 2 different owners offer trades. One offer was Freddie freeman for benny and giolito-who I’m not keeping anyway. I do need a 1B upgrade as I own Chris Davis. What do you think about that offer? Or is benny just going to be too damn good for too damn long to let go for freeman?

      @Mad Beach Bums: I love him too, but I’d take Freeman. He’s still young and super safe.

      I’ll see you tonight in Razznasty brother!

        @Ralph Lifshitz: thanks for the advice, I might begrudgingly do the trade. Good luck in the draft.

        @Ralph Lifshitz: also I’ve been in talks with another who has goldshmidt, I know he’s a top 3 guy in redrafts but would you still prefer Goldy to freeman even tho he’s a couple years older? I think Goldy’s great approach and discipline at the plate can help him produce at a high level for another 5 years or so.

          @Mad Beach Bums: Yeah Goldy is the top option for sure. Freeman is good but he’ll never be Goldy.

    Hey Ralph! Thanks for the great work.

    I’ve got a question for you. Would you trade Chris Archer for Ian Desmond in a Dynasty league?

    I worry that dealing Archer might weaken my pitching too much…
    Thanks for the help!

      @Noam: I’d make that trade all day. You’re pitching is fine. Replacing Duda with Desmond is a massive upgrade. Plus all those sliders make Archer risky.

      I love O’Neill but I have a feeling he’ll go much later than Hamilton

        @Ralph Lifshitz:

        Oh you rank the prospects so low ? its a dynasty(keep forever)…
        What is your last sentence about. You would rather have O’Neil but you think the most guys will take Hamilton so you can get O’ Neill later ?

        • Ralph Lifshitz

          Ralph Lifshitz says:
          (link)

          @Saints: The top MLB guys are three first rounders, a top 5 third baseman, an upside starter with 10 K/9 stuff, one of the best bullpen pieces under 25, a player with great OBP + power, a young 2nd baseman in a good lineup and in a good park with 25 HR pop, and the best SB guy in the game. It’s tough for me to rate prospects higher than all that. The biggest mistake Dynasty owners make is overvaluing prospects. If you wanted to move Schoop past Reyes that’s fine. I wouldn’t but it’s reasonable. I don’t love speed only guys getting closer to 30, but he has more value by at least 3-4 rounds over O’Neill. You have to play the room.

          My advice is play to win you can trade a surplus of MLB players for prospects when you need to add youth. I assume there’s some type of roster turnover. Even if it’s just a few spots. If not, I had no idea what the format was.

            @Ralph Lifshitz:
            Yeah it is wochenende have contracts which expire after a few seasons and you can retain only 5expired contracts per season.
            Ok thanks for this advice im happy that i asked you otherwise i would Do the same mistake :)

    on the cody reed thing:

    hmm, but in a league where we’re only gonna use innings cap not games on team where’d he go roughly. bout to slow draft a brand new 16 team dynasty with 7 man minor list, the minor list will be slow drafted as soon as we fill the league (hopefully by early march), and then regular roster will be online draft in late march. i went back and looked at just how long a slow draft for over 500 players might take and i don’t want to risk either starting way too early or not ending by start of season. we have lots of extra cats like OPS/XBH/QS/K per 9, K/BB, holds, etc. roto dynasty as well.
