For those of us who prefer our fantasy baseball leagues to mirror our fantasy football leagues, there are weekly H2H formats. Sure, H2H is a poorer measure of fantasy skill than rotisserie — weekly snapshots of baseball statistics are hardly indicative of a team’s overall value. But the one-on-one element of H2H provides owners with weekly closure, and adds quite a bit to the competitive nature of the fantasy game. Simply put, H2H is fun. One way to stay ahead in these weekly formats is to maintain a flexible roster and stream two-start pitchers. So every Saturday in-season, we’ll be providing a glimpse at the upcoming week’s two-start landscape.

Tim Lincecum has a 6.07 ERA. Seriously, we’re in July and Lincecum’s ERA is six point oh seven. There’s ugly. There’s brutal. There’s murderous. There’s the guy with the goiter down the street from you that you talked to at a red light once and now he wants to hang out.

The Fugs (Epic Beardmen Division) regained top spot in the Master standings, moving up 5 positions with help from a pitching staff that recorded a 1.70 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. Yovani Gallardo and Madison Bumgarner paced The Fugs, while Gio Gonzalez added 2 wins despite throwing only 11 innings and giving up 8 runs.
Please, blog, may I have some more?The first full week brought more reliever injuries, questionable manager decisions, and batting slumps, causing much consternation in the Razzball world. Colby Rasmus took a lot of the vitriol, and was dropped in 10 leagues. He was usually picked up again, though, and started to heat up, finishing with 5 RBI and a stolen base.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Since breaking Pink’s heart, Corey Hart has been living the surreal life. He has 19 homers already with his career high being 24. He has 61 RBIs, his career high is 91. He has an Amish beard, his career high was scruff. The Brewers are talking of trading their 80′s pop icon. Say you, say me, are they crazy? No, actually, those talking heads are making sense. Yes, I’m talking to you owner of a Corey Hart. (Oh, Corey Hart and your endless punsabilities.) Hart’s HR/FB is way above his career high and the RBIs are a product of dumb luck. His speed hasn’t really shown up this year, though it could. But if it doesn’t, he’s giving all his fantasy value in power, something he can’t be counted on. Not to mention, Corey Hart has never been the model of consistency. In 2009, he was injured. In 2008, he had 15 homers and a .289 average pre-All-Star break. After the break, he hit .239 and 5 homers. It’s nice you think you have Hart for a career year, but you really have Hart for a career 1st half. Don’t trade him for a half ounce bag of oregano and three Phillie Blunts, but I’d see what you can get. Anyway, here’s some more players to buy or sell this week in fantasy baseball:

Please, blog, may I have some more?In the clubhouse after last night’s game, the Nats watched as ESPN reported Strasburg wasn’t pitching until Friday so there was nothing to talk about. Nothing to say about Adam Dunn. Nothing to say about that Zimmerman guy. Josh Will-something… They couldn’t even remember his name. The team stopped watching the highlights, upset they were nothing but Anthony Edwards to Strasburg’s Clooney. Knowing something had to be done, Dunn left the clubhouse as he always had – by reaching up, removing the ceiling and climbing out. Then he jumped on the back of a blue ox and circled the globe until time rewound to before the game. Dunn then went out and hit his 18th, 19th and 20th homers while rocking a .280 average on the year. Now after the game, ESPN reported Dunn hit 3 homers, specifying it came just two days prior to Strasburg’s next start. Dunn shrugged, it was a start as he ripped the blue ox’s leg off and had dinner. Hee-haw! Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Ian Desmond – 1-for-2 with his 2nd homer in as many games. Now has 6 homers and 6 steals on the year. Ever heard of the slow boat to China? Yeah, Desmond’s on the slow boat to 12/12.
