SAT Question: Albert Pujols is to a fractured forearm as Justin Morneau is to playing every day in 2011 and you can’t take him out of your lineup. Only thing worse for Cardinal fans is if Don Denkinger announced Pujols’s fractured forearm while wearing a Wilson Betemit jersey. We never get Pujols in any leagues. I mean, never. This year, we thought we’d go against common practice and pay for him in one league. It’ll take away some money we have for the rest of our team, but at least we’ll have Pujols. *standing in the pouring rain, shaking fist at the sky* Come get some, Fantasy Overlord! So, unfortunately, the slap on Albert’s forearm was harder than the law gave to Tony La Russa when he DUI’d and Pujols will be out for at least 6 weeks. (They’re saying 4-6 weeks, but that’s optimistic.) Looks like Jon Jay, the Federalist, will get more time. Well, why didn’t you say that?! That makes everything better! *sticks head in oven* Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
David Freese – Returns next week. If he’s on waivers, now would be as good a time as any to pick him up. Or now. Or now. Or…Well, you get the picture.
Adrian Gonzalez – Francona said A-Gone might play some outfield during interleague play. A-Gon’s got the outfield range of a Johnny Damon throw. The Red Sox are going to mitigate his poor range by giving him a really big glove.
Andrew Miller – 5 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 10 baserunners (3 walks), 6 Ks. I should do lines in Vegas– Whoa, Charlie Sheen! This is a family show! Random Italicized Voice, I mean I should make betting lines for oddsmakers. I totally would’ve called this Miller line. He’s such a 5 to 6 inning pitcher with 3 to 4 earned runs and a lousy WHIP. (BTW, Sawx vs. Padres in Fenway? This is like S.D. Jones vs. Andre the Giant.)
Tim Hudson – 8 IP, 0 ER, 3 baserunners, 8 Ks. I was gonna write a post about interleague in regards to this, but I didn’t get a chance so here’s the short version. When a team doesn’t see a pitcher often, the pitcher has the advantage. An AL team loses a DH, advantage for the NL pitcher (and not just because Hudson pitchslapped Romero). They still have the play the games, and, as Morton showed last night, a terrible performance is terrible no matter the circumstances. Continued in the next blurb…
J.A. Happ – 2 2/3 IP, 5 ER in Arlington. Then you have an interleague matchup of a mediocre pitcher vs. a tough lineup in a hitters’ park and Happ happens.
Jose Bautista – 0-for-4, I know Bautista’s going to hit three bombs tonight because I’m about to write this, but in June — 1 homer and a .259 average. Last year, only 4 homers in June and a .179 average. Bautista did go back to the Smackdown in July.
Travis Wood – 7 IP, 4 ER, 9 baserunners, 6 Ks. After the first inning where he gave up 4 runs, he settled down and stopped letting Volquez call his pitches.
Ivan Nova – 8 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 7 Ks. He seems to have a great start then a terrible one. Maybe Nova is a star that suddenly becomes much brighter than normal and then gradually returns to its original brightness.
Mariano Rivera – 1 IP, 0 ER. Nothing to say here, but I was at my chiropractor yesterday — I’m so LA! (and I sit in front of my computer too much) — but I read a great article about cutters in Sports Illustrated from one or two weeks ago. I’d seek it out. Was about how so many pitchers are adopting the cutter. Hey, look, it’s like we’re in a book club!
Charlie Morton – 2 IP, 6 ER. He was walking between the raindrops for too long without getting wet. It was a nice ride, but now I’d bench or lose him in most leagues.
Jake Arrieta – 5 IP, 3 ER, 5 baserunners, 2 Ks and a 4.50 ERA on the year. Yet, he has 9 wins. In other news, wins are stupid.
Juan Nicasio – 4 2/3 IP, 6 ER, 9 baserunners, 6 Ks. The roofie as defined by the Razzball Glossary: A rookie pitcher who fails to deliver on their tremendous K potential and, instead, abuses your trust and violates your ERA and WHIP. Used in a sentence, “Doctor, last night Nicasio roofied me and now I’m peeing blood out of my rear.”
Carlos Santana – 3-for-4 with his 10th home run and third steal. It’s a slam and legs, and it’s easy to digest. The average is blehtastic at .237, but his OBP is fine and his BABIP shows he’s been a bit unlucky. He’s still just a catcher, but his end of the year numbers are gonna look decent.
Jason Giambi – 1-for-4 with his 7th home run. Giambi’s a decent interleague flyer if you’re in dire need for power in a deep league. Short term play though. BTW, I just totally spazzed myself out thinking about how Giambi’s having a better year than Morneau. I will now walk into traffic wearing a burlap sack.
Orlando Hudson – 3-for-4 with his first homer. I didn’t see it, but I’m guessing Pesky-fueled. O, you, dog.
Chase Headley – 4-for-5, and hitting near .500 in the last week. Wanna know why? Because he wants to hug you. No. That’s not why. Cause he’s away from Petco. This year — .336 in away games. .235 at home. In 2010, same shizz, different year.
Starlin Castro – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 2nd home run and 9th steal. I’m a bit embarrassed to say this because I have Castro on a bunch of teams, but I thought he had more homers. 2 homers? Really? Really, Seth Myers?
Clayton Kershaw – 9 IP, 0 ER, 3 baserunners, 11 Ks. I have a bit of a schoolgirl crush on him. That is all. (Unless he wants more. I’m totally open for that.)
James Loney – 3-for-4 and 6 for his last 11. Hitting over .290 for two straight months and– I’m sorry, I can’t get excited about him.
Ryan Braun – Missed yesterday’s game with a viral infection. Oy, someone make the Hebrew Hammer some matzoh ball soup.
Jeff Niemann – 6 IP, 0 ER, 7 baserunners, 5 Ks. I’m going to sound like an obstinate broken record here. But I don’t buy into Neimann at all. At all. At–
Evan Longoria – 2-for-5, 4 RBIs with his 6th home run and is hitting .237. So Pujols, Hanley, Wright, Longoria and Crawford are lured into The Octagon, who wants in first?
Leo Nunez – So spooked by strange noises in his hotel in Florida that he spent the weekend at his friend’s home. Some meddling kids figured out it was Robb Nen draped in a bed sheet.
Hanley Ramirez – New (<–ironic! (if I am using the word ironic correctly) manager, Jack McKeon, benched Hanley in his first game. The 80-year-old manager said, “In my day, bats were made out of particle board. They weighed 5 times a player’s body weight and you had to put them together with wood screws.” He continued, “Look, there’s no miracle elixir that can get us back into first…but McKendrick’s Revitalization Potion #7 never hurts!”

@grey Love the self-destructive comedy, heads in ovens, burlap sacks, etc.
In same boat with Pujols. Moving Lind full time to 1B. Have been benching Choo and Markakis a lot this season because of their suckiness. Either one of those guys likely to pull their act together for the stretch run?
Thanks!!
It’s as if the FB gods don’t want me to see the full potential of my team. I get Han-Ram back from the DL and Pujols breaks his arm.
@Grey- Currently doing well in my league but am looking into changing strategies. Point blank im sick of streaming and having awful pitching. My offense is beyong amazing so i have an idea…
Trade some offense for Halladay and another rock solid top 10-15 starter, those two would sit in my 2 SP spots for the rest of the year, helping me reach my 18 IP minimum for the week. I would fill out the rest of my staff with 100% closers (and a bench starter or two in case im close to coming short of 18 innings)
I already have Marmol, Santos, Walden, Melancon, and Perez. So add maybe Hanrahan and Soria to that (both are avalible). Leaving me with something like: Holliday, Haren, Marmol, Soria, Hanrahan, Santos, Melancon, Perez, Walden. To fill up my 9 pitching spots, this should reach the 18 IP easily and assure me saves, whip, and era. Would u recommend doing something like that?
I give Miguel Cabrera, Jay Bruce, Curtis Granderson, Mark Texeria, Daniel Hudson, Scott Baker, Jordan Zimmerman
I get Paul Konerko, Roy Halladay, Dan Haren, Jose Bautista, Shane Victorino, Hanrahan, Soria
Compialation of trades for example ^
Final Roster:
C-Yadier Molina
1B- Prince Fielder
2B- Dustin Pedroia
SS- Hanley Ramierez
3B- Jose Bautista
MI- Yunel Escobar
CI- Paul Konerko
OF- Matt Holliday
OF- Adam Lind
OF- Mike Morse
OF- Shane Victorino
OF-
UTL- Mark Reynolds
UTL-
SP- Roy Halladay
SP- Dan Haren
RP- Carlos Marmol
RP- Joakim Soria
P- Sergio Santos
P- Jordan Walden
P- Joel Hanrahan
P- Chris Perez
P- Mark Melancon
Long, i know, but basically, is this a feasable strategy that you would recomend? I think it could carry me to the championship once i make playoffs

How’s Angel Pagan owned in only half of leagues?
Post-DL, Pagan’s 162-gm pace is .329-85-9-92-50 — Ichiro-type numbers. You NEED (BA/R/SB) Pagan types to balance out HR/RBI guys (Smoak, Trumbo, Morse).
It’s nuts that owners would rather have 2 BJ Uptons (to try to get 5 categories) than a mix/match of Pagan and Morse.
For example:
From ’10-present, Mike Morse’s 470 at-bats = .298-65-28-84-2; Angel Pagan’s 162-gm avg = .282-84-11-84-41. Now, combine the two:
Morse + Pagan =.290-75-20-84-22
Shin-Soo Choo = .300-84-21-88-22. (average of ’09-’10)
Basically, Morse + Pagan = two Shin-Soo Choos (and BJ Upton + BJ Upton = two BJ Uptons). Not an innovative strategy, I know… yet the majority of owners out there continue to overpay for Kinsler, Stubbs, BJ Upton when they literally can get elite production from waiver wire guys. Getting two Shin-Soo Choos from the 2011 auction would cost $60+, yet getting Pagan + Morse cost maybe $4-6…. and you get the same production.
I find it interesting that McKeon is several months older than Willie Mays.
Freese or Moustakis?
hey Grey should I start Nicasio at Cleveland? yes? ouch! at least I had Kershaw so my ERA/WHIP wasn’t blew up.
Zach Britton Wednesday at Pittsburgh? do I chance it and start him? this is the first time I’ve owned Britton(picked up for Nicasio) and likely just another spot start and then dropped.
back to back games Gordon Beckham didn’t start and instead the White Sox went with Omar Vizquel. I think he might be almost as old as McKeon. deep league so I “was” holding onto Beckham hoping for a turn around like last season. but I picked up Scott Sizemore and I’ll use him until both Freese and Prado return for 2B/3B.
@Grey what are your thoughts on Dee Gordon? Furcal could begin rehab next Monday. what happens when Furcal is ready to return? does Gordon still start and bat leadoff? Gordon has a nice .280 AVG with 8 R and 4 SB, but still only .313 OBP. if it’s likely that Gordon will either not start at all or at least no longer be in the leadoff spot I would like to try and trade him now.
12 team mixed – i was offered a trade. I get fran lirano and brandon marrow for adam dunn. I should do this right?
Should I drop Torii Hunter or Colby Rasmus for Charlie Blackmon or Alex Rios. I need speed and average, thanks..
grey: freese over hill at utl?
Brian Roberts for adam Dunn ..who wins? Can we assume Dunn with turn it around at some point?
Or Is he Dunn this year??
any chance you can start latos vs boston tonight? in a 12 team mix? in a 12 team NL only?
kinda blew my mind w/ the SD “special delivery” Jones reference.I actually owned an SD Jones action figure…..seriously.
anyway,10 team 8×8 h2h for the rest of this yr-Rizzo or Dunn?
Freese or Mark Reynolds?
I snagged David Freese and stashed him a few weeks ago. Now I’ve traded Michael Young for Matt Cain. I hope this works out.
Grey:10 team h2h keeper,would you give up Lind for Greinke?
Rank Freese, Wigginton, and Moustakas. Thanks.
Love the Denkinger reference – but I still hate Denkinger. I hope he died because his doctor made a bad call.
@Grey: I’m guessing next year you will have Kershaw ranked higher than Sabathia in your SP rankings…
@Grey: Still waiting for the damn Rays to call up D Jennings… I need some speed badly. Who do you like best out of these outfielders?
A Jackson (coming around?)
C Blackmon (will he keep it going?)
D Span (still on DL)
I guess I owe you an apology. I’d been playing you for saying Jose was legit for his bad June.
@VinWins: Way to ruin the joke. I’d been blaming you… ah, forget it.
@all
Rank for the rest of season
Domonic Brown, Mitch Moreland, Mark Trumbo
With Beachy coming off DL, one has to go.
thanks
How do people feel about Billingsley going forward this year? He is on waivers in my league.
He has the stuff, but he also has a tendency to get hit hard.
Worth a flyer on, dropping a guy like Dillon Gee?
@Grey,
Start Cueto vs NYY and Billingsley vs Det tonight?
@Hardcore Midget: Assuming you would drop Gee, I would think Bills would be your 5th or 6th SP in this case… I don’t see why you wouldn’t take a chance on him. Bills still has a good K rate, but has to cut down his walks a bit and I’m willing to bet his BABIP is a higher than it should be. That said, he is getting roughed up of late and you never know when pitchers are hiding injuries. Stash him for a while, assuming you can afford it, and see if he improves. If not, you cut bait and move on.
Here’s something I didn’t expect:
Tropicana Field was the most pitcher-friendly park in 2010 and is in the bottom three this year.
@Grey
Whom would you prefer?
John Lannan v. SEA
Blackburn @SF
@Joe B: You are correct, he’d be one of my low-end SP. I’m already rocking a staff with Lincecum, Marcum, Daniel Hudson, Bud Norris, Tim Hudson and Cole Hamels, and have Beachy back this week.
Thanks for the input.
@Grey: Why do you hate Niemann* so much? (i before e except after c)
@BlinkULDHC:
Lookback options aren’t something afforded team owners during the season. I agree, in season, the best way to patch a solid team together is to match the pagan’s and morse’s of the world who are performing above expectations but during the draft one has to pay for proven 5 category players.
Noone knows who the Morse’s and Pagan’s are going to be. We just know they will be.
Your strategy also is much easier to implement in 12 team mixed leagues or smaller.
I also like going heavy on HR/SB guys….Pena, Reynolds, Pierre(YUCK!) types but one needs to mix in a few of the Kinsler types IMO.
If it was as easy as matching Pagan + Morse and winning our leagues we wouldn’t need Dr. Grey.
& I agree it’s crazy Pagan isn’t owned all over the place!
-YHL
Pick 2:
Carpenter vs PHI
Bedard @ WAS
Carrasco @ SF
Elvis, McCutchen, Pineda for Hanley, Morse, Gallardo. What side you got?
Hey Grey, thank you as always. I did a search for Neil Walker and didn’t see much… last entry was under a Tabata blurb in April :-S Why the cold shoulder? Seems like he’s putting together an interesting season in Pitt.
True there is no miracle elixir but I heard that Jack McKeon has a good line on some special “Nerve Tonic”. Only known side effect is a very rare presentation of Gigantism.
In related news, Ken Griffey Jr. announced his return to baseball this morning.
Grey, Markakis available. Would you drop LoMo,Joyce,Gardner,or Rios for him? Thanks
Grey: Leo Nunez blurb is among your best one-offs ever….I’m thinking a “The Very Best Of Grey Albright” greatest hits package might be a worthwhile exercise…as for current baseball events, I’m ready to cut bait on Sizemore, need HR and Runs most in 12 team mixed….go with Swisher, C. Pena, Hafner or Wiggie? Wiggie gives me the oppty to bench Uggla if he contnues his shitastic run of ineptitude. Thanks!
Just a FYI Freese started his rehab yesterday at Memphis, he returns next week, not today.
@BlinkULDHC: How’d you get the top two ranked hitters going into the season on the same fantasy team?
Grey, concerning Starlin’s low homer total. True he only has 2 HR’s so far, but he does have 21 doubles and 5 triples. If he finishes with 40 doubles, 10 triples, and 5 homers, I’d be a happy owner. But I wouldn’t be surprised if a few windy days at Wrigley in the summer push his HR total to 10 or more.
For an overall utility fill in and spot starter who’s more valuable -
David Freese, Roger Bernadina or Derrek Lee
Any concerns over Bernadina’s playing time when Ankiel returns?
Grey — After yesterday’s roofie, and given that his next start is @ The House Next To The House That Ruth Built, I’m assuming it’s OK to drop Nicasio, even in a 20-team roto league, no?
Without Nicasio, I’m in need of a 5th starter. Someone just dropped Leake (I’d have to make a waiver claim), while Maholm, Fister, and Rubby of the Rose are all on waivers. Are any of those guys worth rostering? Or am I better off using that roster spot to stream those above guys and other favorable matchups?
Thanks!
To anybody:
Does anyone have a sweeter swing than Carlos Santana when he connects on a home run. All of his home runs seem to be moon shots that when you see the highlight and you see the ball come off the bat you just say “Holy Sh%t”.
Here’s a vote to invite Carlos into this year’s Home Run Derby.
@Bré Jus: Don’t have much faith in Markakis anymore.
@BlinkULDHC: Ouch
@Will it work?: Could work.
@article about cutter: Thanks!
@BlinkULDHC: Really liking Morse this year, huh?
@Big Timer: Ha…Didn’t realize that.
@bubba: Coin flip… Moustakas
@SpecialFNK: Why do you own Britton if you’re not starting him vs. the Pirates? Gordon’s supposed to go down again.
@Tom: Sure
@MrHappyTime: Rasmus for Rios
@pubscout: Sure
@Dirt: Dunn
@A.J.K.: Nope
@Oilcan Giuseppe: Nice! Dunn…
@Salty Balty: Reynolds
@jonnycat: Stealth animal that jonnycat.
@Oilcan Giuseppe: If I needed pitching…
@Rico: Moose, Freese…
@Fugate: Ha!
@Fletch: Still half the season to go, but probably.
@Joe B: Austin
@JG_ism: You did.
@Hardcore Midget: I’d take Bills over Gee.
@weas: No, nope
@Eddy: Weird…Blackburn
@the cardboard box in your attic: Stupid Teixeira’s name confused me now with everyone. Thanks! He’s better real world pitcher who throws a bunch of innings and a 4-something ERA with little Ks.
@Jake: Last two.
@Amart: Hanley
@shibboleth: Cold shoulder? He’s one of the few players I have on 3 or more teams. He’s done nothing in two months to talk about.
@KeeblerMN: Ha!
@Doc Pounder: Nope
@mc serch: Thanks! Pena…
@Colin: Damn, read his news wrong, or read someone else’s and thought it was Freese. Either way, thanks for the heads up!
@DHill Dragons: Bernadina…Yeah, if he slumps and Ankiel hits.
@Enrique: Maholm…
@DHill Dragons: He does have a sweet swing. Tis true.
Hey Grey,
10 Team, H2H, 5×5, Keeping 7
My squad:
c-Wieters
1b-Butler
2b-K. Johnson
3b-Zimmerman
ss-Reyes
of-Braun, CarGo, Holliday
util-Rollins, Lind
bn-Hamilton
sp-Kershaw, Liriano, Billingsley, Volquez, D. Hudson, Cueto, Niese, Stauffer
rp-Soria, League, Melancon
dl-Broxton
I give:
Hamilton + Round 15 pick (Round 8 after keepers)
I get:
Hamels + Round 16 pick (Round 9 after keepers)
This is the third trade configuration I’ve had to go through because my fellow managers are being douches. I apologize for the repetitiveness. Look good? I’ve never traded a draft pick before and as I thought about it I realized how difficult it is to determine the value of next season’s draft picks in the middle of the preceding season, but I figured I had to ask the man anyway.
Thanks, AGAIN.
Ugh. I couldn’t risk losing a start due to Marcum this week so I had to pick between Wandy @ Tex, Niese @ Tex, and Latos @ Bos. I went with Latos. This morning I feel like a kid that got in trouble at school and is hoping dad doesn’t whip the holy hell out of me tonight.
Grey,
As a Pujols owner, here are my options (16 team dynasty-mixer) …
1. Do I bring up Roger Bernadina & his All Biceps Orchestra from my farm system, or do I instead wait approximately 10 days or so to bring up Desmond Jennings from my minors (that is if the Gosh Dern Rays promote him)… as a caveat, my league rules stipulate that a promoted player has to stay on the roster 2 months…
2. Do I stand fast and use Gerardo Parra who I picked up yesterday after streaming Chris Narveson…
Also, my league allows moving players down to a minor league roster. So who’s a better stash, Ian Stewart or Alex Presley?
Allot of moving parts today… thanks!
10 team mixed H2H, just traded kimbrel. Is Mike Adams a must add at this point? 9 days until he almost certainly becomes closer right? Or am I misinformed?
Man I love this site. The writeups on all the players every day helps me catch up on stuff I didn’t pick up on the the night before. I’m glad I’m the only one in my league that knows about Razz! Weeeeeeeeee.
Been offered Aramis and Ichiro for my Zimmerman in my 14 team 6×6(OPS) league, and while I generally don’t like being on the wrong end of a 2-for-1, I’m a little tempted.
I’ve got Joyce as my UT right now, though he’s slumping so hard I’ve actually started Aaron Hill over him the last few days. Does Joyce bounce back, or is he regressing to his true talent?
Offeror also has BJ Upside, I can see if he’d switch him for Ichiro…
What type SP can I expect for Hosmer in a 12 team league (with CI slot)? Zimmermann about right?
Better play at 2B today:
Utley @STL (McClellan)
Ackley @Was (Hernandez)
Kelly Johnson @KC (Hochevar)
I’m leaning Utley even though McClellan has been tough on lefties.
What’s your take?
@stynyr: It’s fair, not crazy about it.
@Terrence Mann: Ha!
@Racehorse: 1. Bernadina…Stewart
@Sweet D: 9 days? Huh? Trade deadline is July 31st.
@Colin: Thanks for the kind words!
@xopchipili: I wrote up how you should sell Joyce two weeks ago. That trade isn’t good.
@Craig: Sounds about right.
@DHill Dragons: Utley
I did own Juan Nicasio, but after his blow up I really had no interest in keeping him on my team. when I was looking at different players that I could pick up I spotted Zach Britton.
in this case it didn’t hurt to pick up Britton for Nicasio since I was going to drop Nicasio anyway. I now own Britton, but only want to start him if it’s going to be beneficial to me. I could have waited until today to go back and forth on whether I want to start him or not, but in the meantime someone else could have picked him up. this is for a deep private league and all 12 owners are active on a daily basis.
I own him, but don’t HAVE TO start him.
the Pirates aren’t exactly a good hitting team.
using ESPN statistics..
last 7 days- .222/.282/.307/.590
at home- .222/.288/.313/.601
day- .246/.328/.366/.695
vs LH- .229/.310/.338/.648
June- .250 /.305 /.336/.642
looks like a no brainer, but then I thought the same thing about Nicasio.
I also looked at Britton splits..
away- 4.40 ERA/ 1.50 WHIP (home- 2.47 ERA/ 1.11 WHIP)
day- 4.08 ERA/ 1.53 WHIP (night- 2.86 ERA/ 1.17 WHIP)
that’s what makes me wonder.
I’ll probably still start him anyway.
I’m only considering this start against the Pirates. sometime tomorrow I’m going to drop him for an offensive player who has a game on Thursday where there is only a total of 5 games. I will then more than likely drop that player for someone else more useful.
FAIL, I dropped the 3 out of july 31 = 9 days and would be way better for me. Call it hopeful bias/dyslexia.
I can’t figure out Headley at home. He has a normal BABIP (~.300) and a good LD%, which would make me think that his AVG would be a lot higher. He does K a decent amount at home (~25%). Is it because his HR/FB ratio is basically nil? It’s around the same for away games, though.
Actually, I can’t figure out the entire Padres team’s splits. It seems that many of them have their LD% drop at home, resulting in a lower BABIP and lower AVG at home. Is it just that they’re elite athletes, and therefore sort of crazy, so that when they hear that it’s hard to hit HR at Petco, they take it as a challenge and swing for the fences? (I know, “elite athletes” and Padres probably doesn’t belong in the same sentence, but I mean it to apply to anyone who has made it to the majors).
Ludwick is the best example of this- his LD rate plummets at home, and his FB rate correspondingly climbs.
Anyhow, the Padres have talked for a while about developing (and purchasing) gap power batters, such as Headley, and their 2011 first rounder, Spangenberg. Doesn’t seem like it will do much good if they fail to convey to those players that they need to employ that gap power at home, and not just on the road.
Or it could just be that the home scorer or whoever is in charge of classifying balls in play is sitting somewhere in the stadium where LDs look like FBs. Whatevs.
@Grey: Assuming all goes well in Albuquerque, you think Broxton is eased back to the closer role fairly quickly? RoS save prediction for him?
I’ve got Heyward, Werth, Morse, Wiggington, V Wells, Swisher, Pena for my OF/Util spots and considering dropping one for Broxton since (I’ve only got 1.5 closers with Axford & Francisco.) Any worth the swap? I was considering Wells/Wiggington.
16-team, 8×6, H2H
Secondly, I’m going to wait and see how Beachy does this week, but if all goes well in Toronto, would you drop Billingsly or another of the above for him?
@Grey
What’s the deal with this Chris Nelson guy? Pujols went down (damn you, Betamit!!!) and my wavier choices are turd-rrific: Juan Rivera, Derrek Lee and the new guy, Chris Nelson.
Points league with 0 points for strikeouts, but 15 for HRs.
who would you give up for Felix Hernandez? doode wants two pitchers of mine…
Cueto
Chacin
Marcum
Scherzer
Kuroda
Liriano
Oswalt
Hanson
Pineda
Oswalt
Or would you just sit tight with my hurlers I have now?
@grey
I knew that , trick question. Nice header BTW.
14 team mixed keeper 6×6 (5×5 plus OBP and Apps) (avg: 9 man bench/team)
Drop Goldschmidt for Wily Mo?
In 3rd place lagging on O, need OF help.
@SpecialFNK: If you’re gonna drop, drop him now and don’t start him.
@Sweet D: Gotcha
@royce!: Maybe Petco just gets in their heads.
@Dad: 10 saves. Can lose Wells. Sure on Beachy.
@El Famous Burrito: Lee’s hitting a little right now.
@kR Express: Cueto and Pineda
@JG_ism: The title? That was Rudy.
@KayCee: Sure
Benching Hanley is a really bad career move by Jack McKeon.
Honestly, I can’t see him get hired again after this move.
@High N’ Outside: I hope you’re joking. His next move will be into a senior living home. I don’t think he’s really thinking ahead about his next job.
What to do with Garza — waiting for his numbers to correct some, but he hasn’t been that great his past few outtings — is it really due to the Cubs defense being that poor (same thing appears to be the problem with Dempster) anyway, you starting Garza today against the CWS?
I have 8 starting pitchers but because most either suck or are injured I’m at a pace of -41.1 IP.
That said, I still won’t start Billingsley tonight. But what about Garza @CWS?
(My other pitchers are Ubaldo, Marcum, Wandy, Lilly, Ogando and Beachy)
@High N’ Outside: im glad he did,managers used to be the boss and run the team,not some spoiled rich brat that half asses it some times
@Grey: Perhaps all the terrible names I call them when they’re on deck aren’t rolling off their backs after all…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjnJ8xs6ibs
@abNormal: I am.
@Bob: Starting him.
@royce!: Hehe
@Grey: Or maybe they’re just confused because I keep calling them “Darryl.”
@Grey
For speculative saves and/or ERA and WHIP help, which would you add:
Kuo or Adams?
@High N’ Outside: getting hired again? the man is 80 yrs old… i don’t think he’s planning, or worrying about anything past tommorrow, let alone next year…
@Grey: I just offered Pujols, Gio and Kendricks for Tex.Wise move?
Hey Grey,
Is Pujols worth hanging onto if I can’t necessarily afford to keep him next year? I have Lind and Howard, and I can get the MUCH cheaper Kershaw from the last-place team (who has the cap space to keep Pujols). If Pujols gains 3B eligibility I’d make it work, but he needs 13 more games and I don’t know his chances.
So: Pujols or Kershaw, given the above context. If you think he can still get 13 games at third, I’d take Pujols, but if not is it worth trading him?
Thanks.
@royce!: Ha!
@Chili Davis Con Carne: Adams
@Doug Ault: I’d take Tex.
@TheRealTaz: He’s not getting 13 games at 3rd. Take Kershaw.
Would you try and trade pujols away and get what you can in a nonkeeper league?
26 team dynasty league…
Thoughts on Wainwright (under contract thru 2013) and Manny Banuelos for Anibal Sanchez (under contract thru 2013) and John Buck. Ramos is my current catcher.
Could also move Wainwright for BJ Upton in same league.
Who would you rather have Wainwright/Banuelos, Sanchez, or Upton?
@joe: Nope
@airweino: Upton
Please rank the rest of the way: T. Hudson, Norris, Romero, and Liriano.
10 team H2H.
Wait for Pedro Alvarez to come off DL or pick up Freese now?
Drop Vlad for Jon Jay, Brantley, Bernadina?
Drop Nicasio for Danks, Narveson, Wood, Maholm, Karstens, Carrasco, Leake, Outman, Vargas, Fausto?
Thanks in advance.
@Grey: in a roto league, how would you rank blackmon, bernadina and the federalist (for immediate help)?
@Black Beard: Romero, Liriano, Norris…
@Shin-Soo Choo Choo: Freese…Bernadina…Danks…
@herschel: Bernadina, Blackmon…
@Grey: Would you give CC and Hudson for Votto?
You heard it here first, Cory Luebke will get a lot of love over the next couple of weeks. A K/9 of 9.9 and likely pitched himself into a starting slot….Hodge Padre!
Espinosa, Moose or Smoak in the Util. spot?
Also, thought on Morrison? What kinds of numbers does he put up the rest of the way?
Thanks.
@STRAWberry: any official word on him moving into the rotation?
@Black Beard: Hudson?
@STRAWberry: That would be nice.
@Derrick: Espinosa… He’s a 20 homer hitter, give or take 3 homers.
Need to acquire a 1B in my 16 Team H2H League. One guy is sporting Pena, Lind, Morse. He wants pitching (primarily). What do you think of this offer:
My Marcum and Quentin for his Beachy and Lind? I’m just looking for fair, not necessarily to hit it out of the park.
My OF right now is: Quentin, Hamilton, McCutchen, Heyward, Tabata, Bernadina.
My SPs are: Marcum, Lester, Kennedy, Gio, Cueto, Lilly, Lewis, of which he only wants Marcum, Lester, and Kennedy?
@Grey: Yes…Tim Hudson and CC fo’ Votto.
Would you trade Felix Hernandez for:
Johnny Cueto and Michael Pineda
or
Ian Kennedy and Ricky Romero
Or should I stay put with Felix. I need more pitching- FYI
I will not, Not, NOT start Bills tonight. Not after his last outting. I think those Detroit hitters go off after being shut down last night. Boesch wasn’t in the line up last night. Day off or did something happen?
@Grey: no. 1,does luebke stay in the rotation,no.2,what kind of numbers you giving him
@Wilsonian: I like it for him.
@Black Beard: It’s fair, depends on your 1B need and if you have SPs to give.
@Joe: Romero
@Luke T: Good move.
@AL KOHOLIC: Is he even in the rotation?
Two SP Start/Sit Questions…
Bills vs. DET
Cueto vs. NYY
Thanks…
@AL KOHOLIC: Luebke is not in the rotation at the moment and my comment above was merely speculative. However, they are the Padres and do not have a lot to lose by moving him into the rotation.
If you have an extra pitching slot for roto leagues he is not a bad add. He can help make efficient use of your IP by assisting in WHIP, ERA, & K’s. It would be a nice bonus if he does make the rotation (he did whiff 5 Sawx in a row last nice), but he is an unlikely candidate to replace Bell once he is traded. Managers tend to keep their lefties in the bullpen for match up situations and go with some schmohawk righty (see one Adams, Mike) to earn the saves.
@STRAWberry: thanks for the update,i really dont have a spot,was trying to see if i need to make a trade to free up room
@AL KOHOLIC: Not yet, but I would keep an eye on the box score to see how they use him going forward.
Or you can ask Grey very nicely to do this and help keep all his loyal readers apprised of any developments in the San Diego rotation
@Grey: thanks, sir. I’m just getting tired of Hosmer giving me nada in the 1B slot and have a pretty deep rotation and outfield for a 16 Team league. Do you think there’s a trade to be made there?
He’s got Pena, Lind, Morse, and also has Beachy on the block.
I’ve got Quentin, Hamilton, McCutchen, Heyward, Tabata, Bernadina, and then Marcum, Lester, Kennedy, Gio, Cueto, Lilly, Lewis. He’s already told me he only wants one of Marcum, Lester, and Kennedy.
@AL KOHOLIC: @STRAWberry: thanks to you guys I’m now stalking him in my 16 Team H2H league.
Okay…I have M. Cabrera at 1B…Espinosa and Pedroia at 2B…Reynolds and Wright at 3B…Elivs at SS…and an OF of Crawford, Bruce and J. Upton and Morrison
SP’s – Wandy, Kennedy, Gio, Liriano, Gallardo, Beachy, Norris, Danks and Bum.
RP’s – Soria, Marmol, Santos and Hanrahan
I am thinking of offering Gio and Pedroia for Weaver.
Should I do this or just stand pat with what I have?
@Grey: For curiosity sake would this look close to next year’s top 10 pre-season rankings for SP… (I know it’s early)
1) Halladay
2) Verlander
3) F-Her (imagine if he is playing for a better team in a yr)
4) Timmy (wanted to put Kershaw here)
5) Kershaw
6) Hamels
7) Lester
8) Wainwright
9) Lee
10) Weaver/Sabathia
guys I think will or COULD end up in the top 20… (in no particular order)
Greinke, Marcum, Price, D. Hudson, Chacin, Haren, Hanson, Scherzer, Shields, Kennedy, A. Sanchez and Strasburg perhaps
Should I drop Masterson and latch onto Freese with my tongue? …can’t afford a bat for him now as I am thin and got some starting pitching back ups (Peavy Cueto etc)
Speaking of which start Cueto tonight, or will he be a pain in my neck?
Do you still like Tabata over Bernadina for the rest of the year? Bernie’s really been out-playing Jose. I’m trying to find someone to drop for Mr. Freese.
@Grey: The only 3B I have on my roster are Glass Chipper and Brett Lawrie. Pretty awful, but it’s a 16 team keeper league and the best available 3B is Daniel Descalso. Ugh. In this situation, is Dayan Viciedo a good add?
Grey,
Are we starting Cueto tonight against the team that plays in the house next to the house that Ruth built? Black n yellow
Razzball Nation, which side do you like:
Adam Dunn and Madison Bumgarner, or
Dom Brown and Jeremy Hellickson
Much appreciated.
Who does Domonic Brown replace, who replaces Domonic Brown?
I picked him up during the frenzy (and out of OF desperation) a few weeks ago but I’m starting to lose patience. I understand the real baseball hype, but not the fantasy baseball hype.
Does he get the spot over guys like Bernadina, Tabata, Swisher, that caliber? 5×5, 12t, mixed, H2H
@brett: Dunn & Henry Rowengartner
@brett: Bum/Dunn. I just don’t believe Dunn’s complete collapse is real, and Hellickson faces the occupational hazard known as the Tornto/New York/Boston offenses.
Keeper league and I will be under serious cap constraints once I get Pujols back. My staff is Hanson $2 ($7 next year), Marcum $14, J Johnson $14, Bedard $0, Stauffer $0, Billz $15, Wandy $2, and Kennedy $2. I’m top 2 in WHIP and ERA, near bottom in wins. In first but my lead is shrinking and will continue to shrink without Pujols’ power and avg. Thinking of trading Hanson cuz he nets me the most return. Which alternative is best? a) Hanson $2 and A Gordon $4 for Konerko ($9) and Garza ($11) b) Hanson and Gordon for Grienke ($9) and Dunn ($23) c) Hanson and Gordon for Hamels ($28), Berkman 0, Nyjer 0. The last one looks the best but I get no keepers and I fear Lance may miss a month at some point. I am leaning option A … or do I consider a $2 Hanson untradeable and do nothing? Love the site, daily reading, thanks!
@Wilsonian: You’re welcome. He likely could fizzle out to be nothing, but that’s why everyone is here. To give a head’s up dudes like this.
A few more tidbits for you:
Miguel Cabrera is good.
Billy likes grape soda.
Miss Lippy’s car is green.
@Brew Crew: Sit, sit
@Wilsonian: Go for it if you need a 1B.
@Derrick: Go for it.
@Fletch: Too early.
@Shea Sera Sera: Sure, grab him.
@Wilsonian: For the season I like Tabata. Bernadina may not have a job in three weeks.
@Eddie: Sure
@tggq21: No
@brett: Dunn
@BlinkULDHC: Nope
@jack: I wouldn’t trade Hanson at $2.
@BlinkULDHC: Brown would likely be used as an extra outfielder/DH swingman, whereas Dunn is currently benched almost every night.
@STRAWberry: Ha! Nice reference.
Thanks for the input, guys. I’m torn on this.
Moustakas, Rolen, or Freese?
(while I wait on wright)
Thanks
Re: Luebke- SD demoted Leblanc, so Luebke is likely to take his place in the rotation until Moseley returns.
@tggq21: I’m starting Cueto, but I’m feeling a little ballsy and I’ve got a decent 90 point lead in my head-to-head matchup. If you’re in a tight matchup you might not want to be so bold.
And they called up Spence, a lefty RP, presumably to take Luebkes spot in the bullpen.
@Grey or any other fine, upstanding Razzballer: Is there any way a sane man (aside from Bud Black) could start Mat Latos at Fenway tonight? I keep trying to talk myself into throwing him in. but I can’t think of an argument that makes me believe any good can come of it. Guess I’m just hoping someone will talk me down off the ledge.
Keep the struggling Bruce (1 extra base hit in his last 13 games) in at Utility vs. Yankees & Brian Gordon or go with Abreu @Fla & Vazquez who has given up a .333 average (52 hits in 36 innings) including 10 HR’s to lefties?
Who would you pick up off the waiver wire? I have room for seven.
Matt Treanor
Torii Hunter
Chris Tillman
Jesus Guzman
Johan Santana
Juan Pierre
Lucas Harrell
Will Ohman
Brian Bruney
Ramon Castro
Mark Buehrle
Carlos Zambrano
Joe Thatcher
Jay Buente
Joe Nathan
Kevin Slowey
Rafael Soriano
Roy Oswalt
AJ Burnett
Alfonso Soriano
Chris Davis
Bronson Arroyo
Marco Scutaro
Ryan Theriot
Danny Valencia
Jim Johnson
Jorge Posada
Josh Beckett
Ryan Roberts
Melky Cabrera
@DHill Dragons: Abreu is a lifetime 316 hitter against Vazquez over 79 AB’s, including 10 dongs. I meant HR’s, you silly boy.
@mucho macho man: Here are the Red Sox runs scored in games in June: 4, 8, 9, 6, 6, 11, 8, 5, 16, 14, 10, 2, 12, 14.
Not including a 3 game series at the Rays last week in which they only scored 0, 3, and 4 runs. You could always see if they can find a way to host the game in Tampa? Otherwise, just keep reading that first line of numbers in my post.
@royce!: Thanks for the comments. That’s being ahead of the curve there.
@Grey: he said no on the deal anyway. I’m sure there will be more in the works and I’ll pose some questions again.
Does that mean you would recommend dropping Bernadina for Freese if I had McGehee at 3rd?
@STRAWberry: yep, I’m now looking at how to squeeze him into my roster with all this other news coming out from the commenters.
@STRAWberry: Yeah, so the numbers definitely say Abreu. But I know if I sit Bruce he’ll hit 2 HR’s tonight.
@Grey: use my #1 waiver priority to drop Lewis and pick up Garza? 10team 5×5 roto 1500 IP Max.
@That guy: Moustakas
@royce!: Nice!
@mucho macho man: For what? You need a possible 6 inning, 3 ER, 5 Ks, no decision that bad that you’d risk a 3 IP, 5 ER game?
@DHill Dragons: Bruce
@Wilsonian: I’d hold for a few days.
@timSTi: Sure
@brett: If you need power there is (likely) no one on the waiver wire that can hit em like Softball Dunn. I personally think he is worth waiting out over a flier on Dom Brown this season.
@DHill Dragons: Then please start Bruce so Abreu can go off on my team. Flip a coin if you are that undecided about it, but much like Mr. Burns, I like to play the percentages with lefty-rigthy matchups, then compare batter – pitcher history.
Thinking of streaming a Pitcher this week…Do you trust either of these matchups as a WW add??
Lackey vs SD or Porcello @ LAD (12 Team ROTO)
Looking for ERA, WHIP, W’s…
i think bautista’s tweaked physically. the announcers noticed he was flexing his back between pitches when the jays were playing the sox a couple weeks ago. he’s still walking more than he strikes out, just doesn’t seem to be hitting the ball as hard. figure it’s probably one of those things where it’s not bad enough to force him completely out of the lineup so nobody can talk about it because we’re manly men who don’t make excuses.
Yankoids – Reds rained out – doubleheader tomorrow.
who gets the better deal for the rest of the season in a 12team 5×5 h2h
jay bruce or david price+greinke
@DHill Dragons: I could see Bruce lighting up the “kid” the Yanks are throwing out there tonight. I go with Bruce.
News/Analysis Headlines Preseason Outlook
Luebke to step into rotation: Padres manager Bud Black announced that Cory Luebke will step into the rotation slot vacated when Wade LeBlanc was optioned down to Triple-A Tucson on Tuesday. Luebke threw 50 pitches in a long-relief effort on Monday, but said that he could increase that for his start over the weekend against Atlanta with proper rest.
(Updated 06/21/2011)
Injury Report
No information available at this time (Updated 6/21/11).
Fantasy Analysis
Luebke could face some restrictions initially as he transitions from a reliever to a starter. Fantasy owners should also note that his time in the rotation could be short lived with Aaron Harang on the verge of activation from the DL, though he could pitch his way into the rotation with some solid efforts should Clayton Richard continue to struggle. For the moment, Luebke is worth no more than an NL-only flier. He warrants monitoring in deeper formats, however.
(Up
Trumbo, Smoak or Pena for the next 4-6?
Any sense in grabbing Giambi for the rest of the week, then switching to one of those guys?
Loved the punch line of Johnny Damon’s throwing prowess. I hear Damon’s #1 fan is Paul “Yosemite Bear” Vasquez; 3 hours of consistent rainbows.
@STRAWberry: Something odd that I’ve noticed this year is there are quite a few right handed starting pitchers who are excelling at getting lefties out (much better than righties) and vice versa.
So even more, you need to look deeper at the numbers, no matter the matchup.
@Brew Crew: Belch… Porcello…
@wily mo: Apologist! Kidding. Could be.
@Mr. Neutron: Thanks for the heads up!
@Walker, Pittsburgh Pirate: Greinke, but it’s okay.
@AL KOHOLIC: Interesting…
@xopchipili: Pena
@Shrute Buck: Hehe
Couple last min line up questions,
1) Espinosa or Walker (Mi)
2) Hosmer or Smoak (1B)
3) Moose or Ackley (Util)
Thanks
@Grey: My Morse & Gio for his Bruce?
Gio is my #4. Its a 10 team keep 7 5×5 roto
@ Grey/All
Any of you cats crazy enough to start Minor tonight @Tor. Figure he’s due for something? Or most likely yet another ERA/WHIP destruction?
The Spaceman
@timSTi: I’d take Bruce.
@The Spaceman: I wouldn’t start him.
@ Grey
Figured you’d say that. You’re most likely right, but I think I may roll him and a cry a little later.
Lastly; Phillips or Walker? Price or Weaver? Your write ups this week have been uber brilliant.
Your time is appreaciated!
The Spaceman
Grey (and other razzers): Hardy or Alcides for ROS?
Of course Longoria was doing so shizzy the last 10 days so I benched him last night..I be an idiot but he just did it to punish me
@The Spaceman: Phillips…Weaver…Thanks!
@TheSickness: Hardy…apples and oranges.
@steve b: Surprised you had a full roster on a short schedule day to bench him.
Hey Grey,
10 Team, H2H, 5×5, Keeping 7
My squad:
c-Wieters
1b-Butler
You responded: @stynyr: It’s fair, not crazy about it.
Which side are you not crazy about?
Hamilton for Chacin straight up sound better?
@Grey: Thanks. I’d like to hold Alcides if he could deliver a .265 BA and 25 steals the rest of the way, but Hardy seems like a safer bet. I need help in all 5 cats…
Grey, which side would you of the trade would you rather be on (in a vacuum, assuming neither side is in need of any category)
HanRam
Carlos Lee
Oswalt
or
Rollins
Heyward
Latos
@stynyr: The side you’re getting. No, doesn’t sound better. Hitters are better keepers. Hamilton won the MVP last year, he’s not finished.
@TheSickness: No problem.
@Gavin: Heyward
@Grey: of course minor starts putting up ks now that beachy is coming back….any chance he stays in the rotation after tomorrow?
@herschel: Nope
Swisher or Gardner for the doubleheader spot start tomorrow in place of Hunter Pence’s ailing elbow?
jemile weeks or neil walker?
@ Grey
I suppose I should be glad to be the fool that started Minor today? 8K’s through 7IP’s! Wink and Hugs! (None drunken, utterly whisical play… that shouldn’t have turned out well for me). Either way; what’s going down in ATL. He’ll be sent down when Hommy returns, correct?
Have a good one Grey! Keep chatting with those inside voices.

espn-ers …. rejoice …. w.m. pena home run .
yahoo-ers …. what are you waiting for ?
Addendum to Comment/Question #153: Yankees are facing two RHP’s in Leake and Cueto, if that means anything to any prognosticators that could make a wild guess as to whether or not either one will actually play both games.
God damn Angels. Pulled Santana one inning from earning his quality start, after he began lighting the scoreboard up with K’s. Plus their offense somehow didn’t score a single run against the bloated corpse of Javier Vazquez despite 10 baserunners in 5 1/3 innings. Absolutely weak.
@Eddie: Ugh and I’m as bad as this guy: http://www.onionsportsnetwork.com/articles/fantasy-baseball-owner-rips-team-in-media,2478/
@mucho macho man: Gardner
@The Spaceman: He’s being sent down.
@chata: Good ol Wily Mo.
@Eddie: Yeah, saw that.
Didn’t get the holy hell beat out of me tonight but my ass is pretty sore. Last time I try that stunt.
@daiquiris! (wave finger): Walker
Rain delay in Chicago.
WHY is latos approaching 120 pitches????
@Grey: Heyward or Stanton?
Booo!!! 28 IP over pace so sat Greinke. Serves me right.
Snagging UGGLA with my priority tomorrow who do I drop for him: Corey Patterson, Trumboner, Delmon Young, or the hot schmotato Garret GI Jones?
Grey- if all your sage advice assists me in winning one of my leagues this year, I promise to buy you this book as a small token of my gratitude
http://www.amazon.com/How-Fantasy-Sports-Explains-World/dp/161608295X
Chacin 6 BB but he’s throwing a 2 hitter! LOL
@Tony: I wouldn’t cry over losing any of those guys.
@Tony: Chacin got pulled and now the bullpen is about to F up his win.
morrow over beachy?
Is that three DPs Zimm has grounded into? Sheesh.
@Tony: and thee it goes…..
Rank please for holds only: Greg Holland, Matt Reynolds, Koji Uehara Javier Lopez
Thanks!
@tom: Good question.
@Fletch: Stanton
@schlitzy: Morrow… re: book – Nice!
@Steve: Has he returned from the DL yet?
@I’m Keith Hernandez: Uehara, Reynolds…
@Grey: Last week.
gotta love scully dropping hieronymus bosch references in the top of the first….
i still have grady rotting on my bench, but now that pence is out all week i need another OF. is grady droppable for the hot hands of bernadina, alcides, schafer or blackmon? or should i just forget it and live with grady?
Hell of a start BUMgarner!
Amazing…. no outs in the top of the first and BUMgarner will already take the loss!!!
Sat Grienke but started the Bum.
Bleurgggh.
in a tough spot, need to drop someone to activate Peavy. Need wins and k’s and we count Losses/gidp for pitchers. so, who would you drop out of:
lohse, ogando, dempster, liriano or I could keep all of the guys and dump Chipper who is my lone bench player. we pay a half way prize and i am in a tight race for first and the extra innings would help.
c-avila
1b-fielder
2b-weeks
ss-reyes
3b-longoria
lf-gordon
cf-c.young
rf-j.upton
util-adam jones
bench-chipper
sp: sabathia, hamels, oswalt, lohse, ogando, dempster, liriano, peavy (dl)
rp: kimbrel, soria, adams (hlds)
who to drop?
@Steve: But on the bright side, my opponent has Bum and my Nunez just got a one out Save.
Fantasy baseball – one pastime, many emotions.
That powerhouse of a line-up known as the Minnesota Twins is just beating the piss out of BUM…
What do you think of Bay? Turning it around at all? He’s looked locked in tonight and his last week (average-wise) was solid.
Beachy over Gio? We count W, L, SV, Ks, ERA, WHIP, Ks/9.
LOL …8 straight hits…BUM has -14 pts for me already! Oh sweet, Pavano up to bat now so maybe the first out.
I’ve got Kendrick at 2nd and McGehee at 3rd. Who’s the better pickup: Freese or J. Weeks? 16 Team H2H Keeper.
@Wilsonian: not dropping either, I have a free spot to pick someone up.
@Fletch: 216.00 era, 27.00 whip – highest i have ever seen for an sp or rp. wtf.
@paulzone: He’s approaching Wang territory from a couple years ago if he gets BUM-rushed again later this week.
Oh MadBum, you’ve really shit the bed on this one
Please tell me BUM’s Performance is just a bad dream!!!
Grey, can you make it all go away??!!
As bad as Bum was, some pretty shithouse relief pitching from the Cards going on right now.
@Eddie: ya theyre a bunch of terds.
@Terrence Mann: awesome.
Hey Grey,
12 team mixed.
I traded stanton and Dunn and got back Mccutchen and T. Hudson. (Im on top in Hrs could gain ground everywhere else).
Good value?
thanks
Cards pen just soiled the sheets in the top of the 8th.
Looked like a little league game with all the bb’s and hbp’s.
@Grey:
Could you please rank your top 2 streamers on this list… It would be a big help because i am kind of torn and need starters for a very deep H2H league. Thanks as always. Your the best at what you do!
Paulino v AZ (Hudson)
Coke v AZ (Duke)
Westbrook v TOR (Morrow)
Volstad v SEA (Vargas)
Duffy v CHC (Wells)
Happ v TB (Niemann)
Wow, Bumgarner got straight up Mazzacred.
@Grey:
Wells or Mo Pena?
This Dodger team is hitting like they think they have Koufax and Drysdale in the rotation.
any of u guys starting beachy? vs TOR tomorrow? I’ve gotta activate him so I gotta figure this out tonight.
is KUO even going to get any saves in LA?
Bumgarner’s start was the unofficial end of my season. I’ve started Liriano for every start but his dominance against Texas, Felix has not been a third round pick, Hommy is hurt, Felix has been blah, T. Hudson and especially Carp have struggled, I let Nolasco fart liquid on my team for all of his blowups. I’m somehow leading in K by a wide margin (thanks Norris, Hommy, Felix) despite being last in WHIP, ERA, and wins. Oh, and I drafted Morneau in the fifth round.
Kind of makes my waiver pick ups of Mini Donkey, Garza, Stauffer, Bailey, Venters, and Mike Adams irrelevant.
I’m going to cry into my oatmeal now.
Like Tony im wondering anyone trusting Beachy vs Tor or Marcum vs TB? or wait and see for both?
@Grey
Beachy
Morrow
Garza
Bumgarner
Tim Hudson
I can own 2… but which 2?!?
@Steve: Fair to say that these are NOT the days of Koufax and Drysdale:
http://www.latimes.com/sports/columnists/la-sp-0622-plaschke-20110622,0,6140780.column?track=rss
@Grey: Madson or Axford?
Hill or J. Weeks?
@Steve: Stupid effing Dodgers can’t do a thing right. There goes a Hold opp for someone.
am getting fed up with this schizz-zer
I know there isn’t much real baseball talk here but I hope the Brewers to make the playoffs. Id much rather face Arroyo, Cueto, ands whoever instead of Gallardo, Greinke, and Marcum. When Weeks slapped his manager on the ass in approval after getting thrown out of the game, it sealed the deal. Love this team.
@Steve: Wei Tu Goh Kuo!
I saw the Bumgarner line on espn scroll and couldn’t believe it. As I looked it up online, all I could think about was Giant Bum. Hope your porn traffic just went up.
@Steve: Yeah, was joking.
@Walker, Pittsburgh Pirate: Play Grady.
@paulzone: Lohse
@Wilsonian: He looked solid tonight.
@Wilsonian: Yup
@Wilsonian: Weeks
@jamesmetsfan: It’s fair.
@butler’s right moob: Volstad, Duffy
@Eddy: Wells
@John: Wait on Beachy
@PaleHose: Bum, Hudson
@Fletch: Madson
@Black Beard: Hill
