For this week’s rendition of hitter profiles, we are going wide rather than our usual deep.  There is plenty happening across the landscape of our fantasy baseball game that needs to be dissected.  Do you know who is quick like a rapid-fire article…Tommy Pham.  Well, he is not actually a blazing runner but good instincts and a green light is all that is needed to be a meaningful contributor in the 5×5 speed game.  It is also quite helpful that good ole Tommy is walking at a clip of 17% which is by far a career-best.  As we dive into the rapid-fire, take a few minutes to think about who you see moving the needle and leave a comment below!

Top 25 Fantasy Second Basemen for 2021 – Week 8

At the start of the season, I was certain Ozzie Albies was the top fantasy second basemen, followed closely by DJ LeMahieu. I was so smart to rank them there and I knew it. Filling out my top five were Whit Merrfield, Keston Hiura, and Brandon Lowe all ranked in my Top 5.

I wish I could say I was spot on about all five players. But if there is one thing that I should have learned in my lifetime, it is that what I am certain about in baseball is not always the way things turn out.

My initial Top 5 currently has only one player still there. Thanks, Merrifield, for living up to expectations so far. The rest of you, ugh. Albies, LeMahieu, and Lowe all struggled out of the gates but have since shown signs of life at the plate. And if you are an owner of Hiura, I’m sorry. I hope you enjoyed the two-run homer he hit for the Triple-A Nashville Sounds the other day. So outside of Merrifield, my Top 5 was completely wrong.

So who is now in the Top 5 and fills out the rest of the rankings? Has Albies done enough to crack the Top 10? Has LeMehieu or Lowe? Let’s find out.

FanDuel: In Defense Of

Hello again my fellow degens. Welcome back to our Sunday installment of MLB DFS. I finally lost count as to which number this is. It could just be my brain trying to erase these articles from my memory due t0 less then stellar performance as of late. This article is going to be a bit of a look back and then of course some plays to make for todays slate. I want people to feel confident that they are getting quality plays when they come here. Even though I had a good week personally 2 of my last 3 Sunday touts have mostly missed the mark. If you have wagered on the teams in our Lines in Vegas section you feel different because I have been close to a stone cold lock with regards to bets. Unfortunately for me, if not so much for you, this is primarily a DFS article. Before we get into the WHO, I want to talk about the HOW.

FanDuel: Fade Stroman Like He Blocked You On Twitter (He Probably Did)

Welcome back friends. You are either lost or you loved my 1st installment of “DFS Sunday Musings” (I just made that name up). There is no in between. If you are lost take a seat anyway and get ready for some top of the line tout work. Lets win some money, shall we?

If we were playing baseball karma fantasy, Marcus Stroman would be justified as the highest priced play. He is the top pitcher on the main slate today on FanDuel at $9,400. He is $900 more then the next pitcher. Since this is baseball and not feel good DFS I am automatically fading him, as the title suggests. Don’t get me wrong Stroman helps the Mets win, but he will not help us win money today. He lacks strikeout potential. The first thing I learned about MLB DFS is to pay up for K’s. That has held true since I heard it and might be the truest thing in any DFS. At 3 points a K (only 6 for a win and 3 per inning pitched) nothing helps you rack up points quickly more then a pitcher missing bats. Okay so don’t play Stro you say, fine, who should we play? I was about to get to that…

Does anyone ever talk about how great the handyman is? Ever? Well, if you have ever needed one, you understand how valuable they are. It’s amazing what they can do. In the amount of time it takes for me to find the spark plugs in my car, the handyman has fixed a leaking pipe, put new shingles on the roof and replaced the automatic thingamabob to the gas stove. What I’m say is everyone needs a good handyman in their life.

Ahh, fantasy baseball. Coming back to writing baseball is more refreshing than a long swig of a double IPA after a day with the in-laws. It sure is good to be back, dear readers. After a seasonal hiatus during which I contributed to Razzball Fantasy Football, I’m finally back and ready to talk college draft hopefuls, prospects, rookies and beyond. Being away from you all, I felt like Pumba without my Timon. DJ Lemahieu without his chaw. Tony La Russa without someone to drunkenly yell at. You see, this is where I belong. And after reading some of Grey’s 2021 fantasy outlooks on the rookie class, there’s one debate I have been waiting and waiting to dip my Dunkaroos into: do I prefer Sixto Sanchez, Ian Anderson or Triston McKenzie for 2021 fantasy baseball? And where might be a good starting point to value each player heading into draft season?

FanDuel: Reds Should Leave Giants Blach and Blue

Cincinnati Reds are squaring off vs. the measly Ty Blach of the San Francisco Giants, stacking the Reds could prove to have a good return on investment. Blach is carrying a very pedestrian 2.18 K/9. Meanwhile, the Reds are one of the hardest teams to strikeout in the MLB. He already got lit up against them last week (3 IP, 11 hits ,8 ER), so batters like Joey Votto ($4,500), Zach Cozart ($3,300), Adam Duvall ($3,700) and Eugenio Suarez ($3,300) should all be on your radar. Now lets take a look at the rest of the picks.
