Lance and Ralph are at the games the last few weeks so you don’t have to be! Might as well lead the lede with a little tag line action, no? The thing is, it’s true! Over the last few weeks Lance and myself have taken in the best the Eastern League, Midwest League, and Cape Cod League have had to offer, while keeping an eye on all the talented minor leaguers changing squads. This week we start the show off with callups of note, before jumping right into our opinions on some of the prospects that are changing hands pre-trade deadline. We talk Dillon Tate, Forrest Wall, Chad Spanberger, and others, before jumping into our weekly 5 by 5, where we run through ten players of note. Lots of info, but jammed packed into an hour and 10 minutes. As always head over to Rotowear.com and use our promo-code SAGNOF to get 20% off the top t-shirts in the fantasy sports game. Ralph,
Can you recommend a website that shows when pitchers are scheduled to throw?
I Live near Lake Elsinore and noticed that I missed M Baez throw Friday evening. Be great to see him live. Rancho Cucamonga is sldo nearby.
    Thanks for the knowledge

@Member Berries: I use the MiLB first pitch app. It allwos you to follow all of the minor league games just like the ESPN app. I was at the Williamsport crosscutters game the other night and there wasn’t any delay with the stats in single A short season.

Hi, Ralph: I own Morejon in a dynasty league and am evaluating him as a trade chip. One issue is his size/durability; he’s listed everywhere at 6-0, 175 but a recent Baseball America piece said that he’s bulked up to 6-1, 210. Not finding anything about that anywhere else, you have any insight? Thanks!

@BB: He’s bulked up, but it’s good weight. Not a bad trade chip.

holy jebus, yahoo is a joke, they don’t have a large chunk of prospects at start of season, BUT now some of the new draft class (mize, bart, biggio) JUST now got added to it’s system. so those who just happened to know that got lucky, many of the others (bohm, india, madrigal) did NOT get added. so i wake up today to see in a 20 team dynasty the first three have been obtained by somebody, 2 of them to ONE owner. b.graterol is NOW also in the system after having not been for a long damn time (years). if you are going to enter a season F’ing up wait till the next season (or a call up) to fix this shit. OR if you ARE going to add the newly drafted guys add ALL of them, not some.

    – so in 3 similar leagues (10 NA’s in which you CAN add directly to them without dropping somebody else first) i have nabbed graterol in all 3, mize in 2. in about 3 other leagues these 4 guys come off WW tonight too, but in most spots i have guys above these 4. but i’d guess at the very least mize is worth more LONG term than his current ranking if we can stash forever, right? not over the likes of paddack/meadows/marsh/kirilloff but higher than his current spot.

-this also means anybody in a long term dynasty league with deepish stash slots needs to basically check yahoo EVERY MF’ing day for more of these guys showing up in the system for no damn reason. graterol wasn’t added FOR YEARS but just was very recently (and i can’t even find out exactly WHEN these 4 WERE added either)

-mize just went in another one of my leagues (12 teamer with 7 stash slots, but other than dropping n.jones for i had no move here, 6 hitter stashed, 1 (keller) SP stashed, and my SP is already sick good, hitting is the weaker spot)

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: yeah yahoo sucks especially with prospects, for example last year they didn’t even have Bo Bichette in their universe, yet they had many other less prominent prospects, even those with a longer mlb ETA

    • Malicious Phenoms says:
      (link)

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: play on fantrax they add prospects and intl free agents almost immediately and they have the largest data base of prospects! Awesome site.

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: Yahoo is the worst. I only use it for Football, but I only have one football team, so here that.

    • Neil says:

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo. Yes Yahoo is horrible !! Too make matters worse on their boards you supposedly can bring problems to their attention and they will fix them. But as far as pointing out their problems with prospects. They know they are the worst at adding prospects. Instead of fixing it. They tell you how they do it. Too bad we aren’t fixing it isn’t a problem. They then have the gall to mark the problem as solved. When you the one who bought up the problem point out that it really isn’t solved. They say it is just not to your liking lmfao. I and along with the most active members in my Yahoo dynasty league saw they were made available a couple of days ago and put in waiver claims for today. I got Bart & Graterol on waivers Then added Biggio / Buddy Reed / Oscar Mercado & Jorge Guzman

      • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
        (link)

@Neil: already play on fantrax, BUT for free dynasties it’s much easier to find owners (at least for me) in yahoo, stupid inertia rules everything around me (more than money actually). i have moved as many leagues as possible to fantrax in last 3 or so years (mostly hockey’s though as yahoo is also horrible at having hockey prospects in their system). it’s pretty clear they just don’t pay their workers to actually do their job(s) well at all.

        – yeah “contacting” yahoo is like getting the wiz of oz to help you, like in that movie. and in some leagues they came off WW last night, others either no WW at all or just before last night (but who knows HOW much before last night).

Ralph, what do you think of hampson? Do you think he makes an impact while up? Obliques can take a while to heal so I am hoping he has at least a month. He hasn’t run yet and has been hitting 7th. 2b/ss eligible in yahoo is a plus too. Thanks

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Scott: I do think he can, really liked what I saw in Hartford. Gap to gap hitter, plus speed, the ability to play all over the field, and great pitch recognition and strike zone awareness.

  5. The Gipper says:

Ralph, need your honest-to -goodness thoughts on how Jake Bauers will be in the Bigs going forward. What can we expect from him next year and beyond?
I love him, but just got an offer of Zack Godley , Alex Kirilloff and Triston McKenzie for him, which is pretty tempting but this other manager really wants him.
I was thinking of also asking for his Wander Franco and throwing him back a major league bat like Teoscar Hernandez. Or taking McKenzie out of it and inserting Wander.
Let me know how your feel about this possible deal as I value your opinion the most!

  6. Ralph,

Got a prospect question but have league members who are very active and visit your site. Any way to get your thoughts without having it be posted?

    Thanks Ralph!!

    Here’s my squad:
    C-Garver
    1-Rizzo-2 ScooterSS-Peraza-3-Suarez-MI-Kinsler-CI-Myers-
    OF-Upton-Duvall-Kepler-Adam Jones-Schebler-Mallex Smith
    DH-Eduardo Escobar-Goodrum
    Staff-Kluber-Quintana-Clevinger-Weaver-Bieber-Hellickson-R Lopez-Trevor Williams-Lauer-Mengdhen-RP-Diaz-Iglesias-Hand

I’m in 3rd in a 12 team league but according to the breakdowns I’m in 6th payout is four spots.

Tough calls on trades-I’m thinking of offering Kluber and quintana for Blackmon and Trey Turner. Would you do that or something similar? Try to bolster my hitting and hope fo rthe best with my pitching? I’ll always have a chance at every offensive category and saves. Or just stay put????

Also is my crew going to pull it off? Moustakas to 3rd and Shaw to second??? I’m optimistic!

    Thanks!

I am going for the win this year and have Paddack at only $2 he gets $5/yr raises once he hits 50 IP.
Will he be a # 1 or 2 starter and when do you see him taking the league by “storm”?
    2021 … ?

  9. David says:

Ralph, which side in a dynasty league, Hoskins/Bumgarner or F. Freeman/ Mikolas? Thanks

  10. jose H. says:

    Ralph,
i am glad you were talking about Paddack been bigger. I was going to ask if the mound were higher in AA, because the last two times I have seen him pitch he looks more like 6’6 than 6’4 that he is listed at, maybe is the different uniforms.

You talked very briefly about Luis Patino. Can you please expand on him a little bit more? I just picked him up, I like him alot.

  11. Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
    (link)

oh question about mize, i see where you have him ranked, BUT my guess is his TRADE value in dynasties would be a good deal MORE than that spot. in a 16 team roto dynasty with 7 man prospect lists (off active roster, we have “fake” teams in which these go) and 4 NA slots on team (OPS, OBP over AVG, total bases, hits, steals %, holds, K/9, K/BB, QS added). guys on active roster cannot be sent to prospect list till offseason, and nobody that didn’t start season on somebody’s prospect list can be on it this year. guys can be sent down/called up till the standard 130/50.

    BN bader (CF/RF), heyward (CF/RF)
    DL miggy
NA k.lee (CF), kirilloff (RF), meadows (all OF)

SP: (1750): morton, wood, stripling, glasnow (holds streamer in SP slot), cueto, carrasco
RP: yates, kimbrel, rivero, cishek, alexander, green
    DL reyes, fields, morrow,
prospects stash list: c.stewart, mcmahon, m.baez, trammell, k.lewis, w.javier, kieboom,

so i could find upgrades for javier and lewis possibly.

anybody you’d drop from the active roster NA’s to nab mize for trade bait? the top pitching guy in a draft tends to get crazy value. graterol is also available in this one.

    • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
      (link)

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: forgot i have paddack in last NA on active roster slot.

      • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: meadows being called back up answered this question. i drop probably pearce (or bader, but his long term value is probably pretty good), call up meadows again (can’t send down anymore) and add mize.

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: I can’t sell pitchers in my dynasty leagues. Even the top guys drop in value from start to start.

  13. Milarky says:
    (link)

Yo Ralph, love the articles and pods! I claimed Corey Seager off waivers for the sole purpose of trading him for a prospect (can only keep one SS into next year, and I lucked into Story). We only get to hang onto 3 designated prospects year to year, so it’s a bit of a crapshoot on who will be kept especially given that we must start both a rookie hitter and pitcher.

I already have Tucker, Kingery, Buehler, Hiura, Trammell, Sixto. Noone seems to want to give me a blue-chipper for Seager to make it a slam dunk, but I can probably get one of the following guys – can you rank the top 3 I should shoot for? Is it as simple as going by your rankings given this convoluted scenario?

Ryan McMahon (1 year left as prospect keeper)
Peter Alonso (2 years left as a prospect keeper)
Austin Riley (2 years left as a prospect keeper)
Alex Kiriloff (2 years left as a prospect keeper)
Tyler O’Neil (1 year left as prospect keeper)
Gerrett Hampson (2 years left as a prospect keeper)
