A major influx of high impact offensive talent just recently hit the big leagues (Yoan Moncada, Rafael Devers, Lewis Brinson, Derek Fisher, Harrison Bader, Jordan Luplow, and Dominic Smith coming soon too), and Ralph and I went over each one and projected their rest-of-season numbers by playing over/under based on their Steamer projections. Even with so many of our favorite prospects getting the call, it still felt like there was a little something missing. That little something was Willie Calhoun, who we prayed is involved in the seemingly inevitable trade that sends an American League starter to Los Angeles. We also talked about the Tyler O’Neill for Marco Gonzales trade, Dansby Swanson’s demotion, and closed the show by discussing some of our favorite low minors breakouts. Finger of the pulse Halp!

And yes, I am a Mets fan… C’mon Sandy, get with the youth movement!

@Rosscoe: If it doesn’t come after the trade deadline has passed it would be ridiculous.

          • Rosscoe says:
            (link)

@Halp: Exactly. I think they want to move Asdrubal before bringing in Rosario. Not sure why they haven’t moved Dom Smith up yet, with Duda out.

@Rosscoe: I guess they feel that they’ve kept two of the best players on their team in the minors for this long, what’s a few more days.

@Rosscoe: They want to give Bruce 1B eligibility in Razz30 first

@Ralph Lifshitz: Haha, I think Votto has that covered.

Great podcast! Exciting times for prospects

In a 10 team keeper. Fisher is up now but I’m really digging Kyle Tucker. Who is the better keeper going into next season?

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Matthew Macdonald: Thanks, Matthew! For just next season, it is Fisher, but long term go Tucker. I think in general I would value Tucker over Fisher in a 10 team keeper but both of them are worth rostering.

        @Halp: thanks!

First time commenter long time listener. Did you see Michael Matuella’s line from last night? Is it possible the former Duke ace is finally on the road to the bigs? Finally cleared for pitch counts higher than 60.

    Ignore the 5+ ERA…(3)

    • Rosscoe says:

@Ralph Lifshitz: Yeah, that 8.5 K rate at low A is tantalising.

    12 team dynasty H2H 7×7 OBP, TBs

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Sava21887: Nah, I prefer Fisher and Adams to Haniger right now.

  6. Biggie Smalls says:

Eugenio Suarez or Dominic Smith R/HR/RBI/SB/K/AVG/OBP/ SLG

I am in a deep keeper league so there isnt much on the wire. I have been offered my Smith for Suarez. This seems like a snap accept, but I am kinda hyped up on SMith.

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Biggie Smalls: Suarez is clearly the safer option because he is already proven, but Smith has the higher ceiling with the chance to hit for a high average along with above average power. If it is me, I’m probably holding Smith. I’m kinda hyped up on him too, ha

      • Biggie Smalls says:
        (link)

        @Halp:

alrighty. I usually have a mantra that prospects have their highest value right before they are called up, so I am usually amenable to trading them, in the right deal. I dealt bregman when he was called up last year for yellich and kevlin herrera ( I was trying to win).

But I will hold Smith for now. I just called up Devers from my farm so hopefully he stays up.

Would you drop mitch haniger for Raimel Tapia… Haniger will get scooped on the wire if I drop him, but he has been so terrible, and I could call up Tapia from my farm to start…I am worried Tapia will be squeezed for playing time/ at bats.

        • Halp

          Halp says:
          (link)

@Biggie Smalls: For sure, and I think cashing Smith in for Suarez is completely reasonable. And I do like Tapia over Haniger long term, but playing time is definitely a concern early on. I would try to find a way to keep both of them. Haniger is still unproven, but oblique injuries have a way of tanking seasons and lingering. Not sure if that is the case here, but he has a chance to look much better next season if healthy.

          • Biggie Smalls says:
            (link)

@Halp: welp… haniger takes one in the chops.. makes it an easy roster move to the DL

  7. Tommy says:
    (link)

Halp, is it time to give up on Drury in dynasty? He will only be 2B elig next year… and he stinks. Guy mashes in spring and gets my hopes up and then is terrible in that joke home park.

    Thanks!

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Tommy: haha … I think he is just a good solid hitter, so if there is something better out there, go for it.

  8. Anodyne says:
    (link)

In a keeper/dynasty league, would you rather have Gregory Polanco or Starling Marte?

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Anodyne: I’ll take Polanco. 3 years younger and more power but it is close.

  9. Common Allitee says:
    (link)

In a keeper points league where do you rank Brinson compared to Schwarber, Desmond, and Polanco?

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Common Allitee: I would have Polanco in the top spot, followed by Brinson, Desmond, and Schwarber, in that order.
