Yesterday, Brandon Pfaadt went 7 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 1 walk, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.74. Singing a’la the Fat Boys, “The Pfaadt Boy is back! And you know he can never be wack!” [sees Pfaadt’s game log] Okay, so he can be wack. “The Pfaadt Boy is back! And you know he can […]

We’re back! Apologies to any of you who came out of the All-Star break looking for help with 10-day scoring periods, but this column goes live on Sundays. As far as the week ahead goes, we have a pretty good idea about what most of the rotations are going to look like, but there are […]

Please, blog, may I have some more? It’s always strange to take a week off for the All-Star break because it feels like there are no breaks in baseball. It’s funny because I don’t really know what to do with myself the first 2-3 days off, and then it’s back before you know it. Luckily, the withdrawals weren’t too bad, and I’m […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?1. Rays 3B Junior Caminero | 21 | AAA
Hit three homers in six Florida Complex League games on his way back from a quad strain. Makes his return to Triple-A over the weekend. Feels like a matter of weeks not months, but it complicates the issue that Tampa is struggling to stay in the race.
Please, blog, may I have some more? What a time for the All-Star break this week. Just when we all needed our pastoral old ballgame to distract us from the **gestures a wildly overexaggerated shrug** everything going on around, we were comforted only by doomscrolling. In lighter news, make sure to check out my latest Cards & Categories podcast to get a […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?If you have Colt Keith on your team and you held onto him after his first month as an MLB player, congratulations! You are one of the smart people who could see the potential in Keith and not hit the panic button.
Keith entered the season as one of the top prospects in baseball, ranking 28th, 22nd and 22nd by Baseball America, MLB and Baseball Prospectus, respectively.
Keith intended to play at Arizona State University of high school but opted to sign with the Tigers after being drafted in the fifth round in the 2020 draft. With no minor league games being played that season, he made his professional debut in 2021 and played at three different levels, starting at Rookie ball and finishing at High-A.
In 62 games overall he slashed .270/.381/.367 with two homers and 27 RBI. In 2022, Keith was playing for High-A West Michigan and slashing .301/.370/.544 with nine homers and 31 RBI in 48 games before suffering a season-ending injury in June when diving back to the base on a pickoff attempt. Last year he split time between Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo and slashed .306/.380/.552 with 27 homers and 101 RBI in 126 games combined.
The Tigers knew they had a gem in Keith and rewarded him with a six-year deal that pays him more than $28.5 million. With club options and escalators, the deal could be as much as $82 million over nine years.
Let’s see why the Tigers and people like me believe Keith is a top Up-and-Coming Dynasty Player.
Please, blog, may I have some more?If the plural of “yippee” is now Yepez then Washington Nationals first baseman Juan Yepez is giving Nats fans a lot to cheer about lately. The former Cardinal carried his hot streak from pre-break to post-break with a monster game Friday night going 2-for-4 with a 3-run home run to extend Washington’s lead to six […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Greetings to the real All-Stars (that’s you, dear readers)! I hope you enjoyed the All-Star festivities. Besides the busted version of the U.S. national anthem, there are no new, notable injuries. However, halfway through the season is always a good time to reflect upon the injuries WE DO HAVE: The Home Run Derby felt a […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? How’s everyone doing without baseball every day? I’m doing great! I walked into a Jersey Mike’s and told them a story about a Mike I knew from Jersey who owed me money, and told them I wouldn’t be paying for my sub. They can take it out of the money Mike owes me. The police, […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Happy return to baseball and happy second half! It’s possible you are returning to DFS after a short break or you are returning and looking for a second chance to your season. Whatever the case, time off from MLB DFS gives us a lot of time to clear our minds and think about things anew. […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? The draft happened during this present All Star break, meaning most blurbs looked something like this:
Any Player was drafted in Whatever Round.
We can tell with absolute certainty that Player will be nothing more than a bench bat for the Whoever Whocares.
