It’s been said before, but one way to get us to appreciate the Olympics more is to insert one normal person in each event so we can see how much better the Olympians are than the Average Joe. The Pommel Horse Guy looked pretty good, but take an Average Joe out of the crowd and […]

I’ve been crushing it recently, but last week was not my best showing. In fact, it was probably the worst week of streamers we’ve had all season. That’s going to happen, and I’m going to chalk it up to a wacky trade deadline. That has me motivated to bounce back and have a big week, […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? The MLB trade deadline is always an exciting time for fantasy baseball managers. Each year, the flurry of trades can significantly alter the landscape of player values. As teams bolster their rosters for a playoff push or begin to rebuild for the future, player roles shift dramatically. Some players find themselves with increased playing time or in more potent lineups, leading to a surge in their fantasy value. Meanwhile, others may see their opportunities diminish. Navigating these real-world moves can be the key to getting ahead in your league during the closing months of the season. This week, our Hitter Profiles dig into a quick-hitter version of buy and sell for many of the key players moved at the deadline. Buckle up, as who knows what can happen when AJ Preller and Jerry Dipoto get involved.

Please, blog, may I have some more?Wowza, what a deadline, huh? Sure, we didn’t have the superstar-level players like Juan Soto or Justin Verlander moving this year, but the volume was astounding. A total of 59 trades were made during time surrounding the deadline with 32 going down on the Tuesday deadline alone. Certainly, highly owned players like Jack Flaherty, Erick […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Good day, everyone. It’s time for some more Up-and-Coming Dynasty Player talk.
This week I am going to focus on a player who is not an under-the-radar player in Colton Cowser. When you are the fifth overall pick in the 2021 draft, it is hard to fly under the radar.
A Houston native, Colton had a standout career at Sam Houston State in Huntsville, TX, which is located just north of Houston. In three years, he slashed .354/.460/.608 with 24 homers and 112 RBI in 125 games with only 70 strikeouts (12%) to go with 76 walks (13.1%).
Cowser has been a Top 100 Prospect since 2022, when he entered the season ranked 98th by Baseball America, 66th by MLB and 46th by Baseball Prospectus. In 2023 those rankings were #41, #40 and #38 and this season he entered the campaign at #34, #19 and #51.
His minor league career backs up those rankings. In three minor league seasons he has a .298/.420/.489 slash line along with 38 homers, 162 RBI and 34 steals in 258 games. He has maintained his high walk rate at 15.6%, but unlike at Sam Houston State, his strikeouts have greatly increased to 25.9%.
Colton is now establishing himself as a cornerstone player. Let’s take a look at why he is an Up-and-Coming Dynasty Player.
Please, blog, may I have some more?San Francisco Giants starter slash lefty slash reigning Cy Young slash second half savant Blake Snell notched his first win of the season Friday night and it was a doozy! Snell masterfully no-hit the Cincinnati Reds, the first no-hitter of his career and third in the MLB this year. Dude was dominant throughout, allowing just […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Howdy Razzballers! It’s that time of the season where many injuries become season ending injuries. This week Jordan Westburg and Kodai Senga have entered that territory (or are close to it). Additionally, chronically injured players like Mike Trout and Evan Carter will never really get to make a return as they are officially out for […]

Please, blog, may I have some more?August greetings, everyone! Last week, I alluded to how dull it felt this year’s trade deadline might be, and now that it’s come and gone, that’s feeling like a fairly accurate assessment, at least in terms of the way things played out in my leagues. For those of us who were sitting on NL-only or […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?“It’s a skill game, Jo.” To quote the great Mike McD from the movie Rounders, pleading with his girlfriend that he’s not just a degenerate gambler carelessly throwing his money away playing poker: “Why do you think the same five guys make it to the final table of the World Series of Poker every year? […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?My process for examining a slate always starts with a look into the K/BB numbers for pitchers and their opponents as well as a look at which teams perform well vs. the type of pitcher (LH/RH) they will be facing. I am able to pinpoint the teams I want to target for offensive production and […]
