Summer officially begins next week, and hopefully, your fantasy offenses are starting to heat up along with the weather. The baseball season has already brought its fair share of disappointments, so here’s to a more bountiful deep-league waiver wire as more minor leaguers get looks, injury replacements emerge, and other fantasy owners whose teams are […]

While the 1st Father’s Day was celebrated in 1910, it wasn’t until 1972 that it became a National holiday. Yes, it will never compete with Mother’s Day, and it probably shouldn’t, but Father’s Day is special nonetheless. For starters, Jim Bunning once threw a perfect game, the 1st for the Phillies. Bunning only needed 90 pitches, which he threw 79 for strikes! The Bulls, led by Michael Jordan, defeated the Sonics in 7. This was Jordan’s 1st championship following the death of his father. And who could forget Tiger Woods’ 15-stroke victory in the US Open at Pebble Beach?
While these amazing achievements highlight the special day, there are a few other interesting factoids. Whiskey was the most gifted item for fathers in the 1980s. The 1990s were headlined by clothing (most likely ties), with the introduction of improved technology beginning to overshadow towards the end of the decade. As we enter the 2000s and into the present day, materialistic gifts have given way to “experience” gifts. For instance, fathers are no longer getting a hat, but instead, they are gifted tickets to go see a concert or a sporting event. I would like to follow in the footsteps of the kids of today and gift all of you fathers out there (and honestly everyone else reading this) the gift of knowledge. Here are some helpful tips to give us the gift that we all really want…a Head to Head Fantasy Baseball victory in Week 10!
Please, blog, may I have some more?Have the A’s traded Frankie Montas (FD $10,200/DK $8,300) yet? They haven’t? So he still gets to pitch in cavernous Oakland Coliseum, and he still is facing the 25th-in-MLB-in-OPS-vs-RHPs and 25th-in-MLB-in-road-OPS Royals tonight? Looks like we’ve found our SP lead for this week. Montas has had a terrific year so far, pitching to 3.40/1.05 ratios […]

Bryce Harper (1-for-4, 2 runs) and Kyle Schwarber (2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 17th and 18th homer), stand behind home plate watching Harper’s dad throw batting practice. Schwarber walks out and stops Harp’s dad, “Thanks, but I think I’m gonna use the other guy for the Home Run Derby.” Schwarber points to Patrick Corbin. What’s the opposite of June gloom? Kyle Schwarber’s got that. Kyle Schwarber is the first Phillies hitter with 18 homers in the team’s first 64 games since Domonic Brown in 2013. Shoutout to Tehol! By the by, if you weren’t around last November during the offseason, our writer (?) Tehol was on the Bachelorette. I’m not joking:

Any hoo! Anyone that can remember Schwarber’s last June knows he loves hitting in June and in Nationals Park. He had 16 homers last June, then burned out almost as quickly. Someone remind me to trade for Schwarber on May 31st and trade him away on July 1st. Yo, Schwarber save some for after the summer solstice. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more? What do you think of when you see AA? If you said Aaron Ashby, then you are the nerdiest of fantasy nerds. Kudos! While Ashby is on the short list for me, I have to admit that Alcoholics Anonymous and American Airlines were front and center. The beautiful thing about the simulation…err….universe that we live in is that there are connections galore. Alcoholics Anonymous consists of humility, discipline, and a spiritual awakening. American Airlines has vehicles that fly above the clouds but can plummet to the earth due to a confluence of factors. That sums up Ashby for fantasy baseball. He can strikeout batters with the best of the best yet he’s been dropped in 12.6% of ESPN leagues over the past week. Is this a time to be humble and acknowledge the current reality over his last two starts (10 earned runs allowed) or is it a time for analytical discipline in order to achieve the upcoming spiritual awakening?
Please, blog, may I have some more?Time to play hot or not. Well… mostly we’ll just be playing who’s hot and who’s hotter. It’s more fun anyways. I’ve always been a fan of looking at the past couple weeks when deciding who to add to my team. It’s still a small sample size but it shows a bit of consistency. Everyone would love to grab a league winner of the wavier wire but sometimes all you need is a guy who can give you a quick boost. Fantasy baseball is a grind so just take it one week at a time. And bury your opponent in an avalanche of points.
Please, blog, may I have some more?As we march unendingly toward the halfway point of the season, we are getting closer and closer to the crazy zone. Tyler Mahle and Miles Mikolas were the best pitchers of the last week. Three Braves (no, not Acuna, Olson, and Riley) are in the top-10 hitters (Michael Harris, Adam Duvall, and Dansby Swanson). What […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Hi! It’s Thursday, June 16th and we have an interesting DFS slate on our hands today. Only five games on this FanDuel Main Slate, one of them with rain potential. We also have a lot of good pitchers on the slate that I am trying to avoid going against like Luis Severino, Shohei Ohtani, and […]

*wavy lines* Hey, what’s up, it’s back in March! This is awesome! I did a time travel! No, I don’t want to sell my crypto while it’s still at an all-time high! No, I don’t want to bet on Aaron Judge winning the MVP! I wanna draft Tyler Anderson and Tony Gonsolin and avoid Julio Urias and Walker Buehler. And draft Anderson and Gonsolin in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, just to freak everyone out! *Wavy lines* That was the best dream sequence ever. Surprised Dave Roberts didn’t bring in Clayton Kershaw to finish off the no-hitter. It was, after all, a gazillion pitches thrown by Tyler Anderson (8 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 1 hit, 2 walks, 8 Ks, ERA at 2.82). Towards the end, it seemed like he wanted the Angels to get a hit just to end his night. I got goose pimples for Tyler, since he could no longer feel his arms. I’m not casting aspersions on Anderson and Gonsolin but I think they both lost the same amount of weight in the preseason. 21 grams. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more?26-year-old Oakland 3B Jonah Bride isn’t married to any one position. He’s even messed around at catcher the last couple seasons. Impressive that despite his wandering ways he’s posted plus offensive seasons at every extended stop (wRC+ scores of 122, 130, 149, and the 175 in 12 games at AAA this season). He played third base in his debut and isn’t going to unseat Sean Murphy anytime soon, but he could hang onto a roster spot as Billy Beane and the Athletics try to cobble together a baseball team, shouting “It’s Alive!” into an echoing, empty ballpark.
Please, blog, may I have some more?It sure does seem like pitchers are dropping like flies. It’s probably the same every year, but this year it’s just affecting me more than others. And you know what, I don’t like it. Not one bit. Call me cold-hearted, but I don’t care if pitchers hit the IL, as long as they aren’t on […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Jon Berti is quite honestly one of the most fascinating players that has “popped” this season. In the last two weeks, he has swiped eight bases with an average just below .300. Berti has done something like this, with 17 steals in just 297 PAs in 2019. In 2020, he had nice steals in the […]
