What’s poppin’, Razzpimples? Stream of consciousness is my favorite. Just write where the wind takes you, ya dig? That’s what’s in store for this week’s SAGNOF saves column. I’ve hit y’all with rankings (closers here, setup men here) the past two weeks, so this time around is just kind of a catch-all update on some […]

Intro Free agency has become quite the topic this year with Scott Boras’ leading his clients to wait out the clock to sign big contracts only to end up with decent Average Annual Value (AAV) short-term contracts with player-friendly opt-outs after the first year. Which, is really wild when you think about it, and feels […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?We have another week’s worth of draft data (ten more leagues) to work with and about a week and a half left of the Razzball Commenters League draft season. All of our free leagues have filled (thank you!) and the only league left with openings is a $20 league drafting Saturday night against MarmosDad. Scroll […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Grey and B_Don are back as they continue with part 2 of Grey’s 2024 starting pitcher rankings on the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast. Which one of these later SPs are we trusting and which ones are right for your build? We talk about a mix of exciting names like Bailey Ober, Bryce Miller, Hunter Brown, […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? There are no 3rd basemen to target for 2024 fantasy baseball. Thank you, have a good day. *finger to earbud* Okay, I’m being told I need to give you some 3rd basemen to target. Who the hell is this in my earbud anyway? Is this…FUTURE ME?! Or. Dot dot dot. Past me?! Oh my God!
Please, blog, may I have some more?Happy Monday, Razzball faithful! It’s good to (figuratively) see you all back for another week! Last week, I ran through “The Next 100” and outlined our 101-200 ranked starters from the 2024 Preseason Player Rater. Next week I’ll be trudging through the sludge that is the Next Next 100. But what to do in the […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?I know, I know. Nobody cares about your fantasy team. Except you, dear reader, actually do care about my team, right? Or, at least you care to read about Grey’s teams, and you care to read about Rudy’s teams, and you care to read about other people’s drafts like it’s some literary genre.
It’s not the next War and Peace or even the next Fourth Wing, but I think there’s stuff to be learned from draft analysis. That said, I’m going to be harsh on myself because I think there’s too many fantasy analysts that say, “I just drafted the best team in the universe, I’m making bank on this, I’m perfect.” I’m not perfect and no team is perfect. You can literally rearrange the draft order of a fantasy baseball draft something like a quintillion times. But here’s a team that I’m happy with, and put thought into, and will try to win with. If that helps you, then read on.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Howdy again, y’all. After throwing back a few keystones last week, it’s time to get a little spiritual about the spot labeled with a “6” on lineup cards: Shortstop. There’s a lot of fun numerology surrounding the number six. The sixth anniversary is the sugar anniversary in Western tradition. Six is the number symbol for […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? This year’s team is unlike anything I’ve ever done, and I think it’s legal. I’m not saying that like when you were drunk in college trying to get laid. I didn’t play Montell Jordan and try to body-rock Scott Pianowski.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Over the last two weeks, we walked through the top 20 and top 40 hitters for 2024 fantasy baseball season. This week, we come to the midfield looking at hitters rounding out the top 60 for 2024. While injuries have begun to cast a shadow over the spring, the emergence of young talents like Jackson Merrill, James Wood and Spencer Jones add excitement in our drafts and our rankings. This week, we begin to see the field narrowing as the gap between spot 41 and 60 are much closer than our early rankings. This is where leaps are made and risks must be taken. This group is chocked full of upside, dreams and potential while sprinkled with a few reliable veterans. So grab your glove, adjust your draft boards, and get ready to knock it out of the park with this week’s breakdown in our top 100 hitters for 2024.
Please, blog, may I have some more? When AJ Preller was in first grade, his mom always packed his lunch with five baby carrots and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, along with some kind of treat that could be salty or sweet, depending on what was around. AJ didn’t mind the carrots, but he did eventually get tired of eating the […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? The beauty of dynasty baseball is that one player can be viewed in multiple ways. This is why rankings tend to get wonky for players once they are outside the top 50 or so.
One of the players who is ranked all over the place is Chas McCormick of the Houston Astros. In my Dynasty rankings I have him at No. 112. CBS comes in with a ranking of #165 for McCormick while the good folks here at Razzball ranked him at #220 and ESPN comes in at 248. So four rankings with a variance of 126 spots.
I can understand the wide difference. McCormick has never been a fulltime player as the most games he has ever played in is 119 and the 457 plate appearances he had last year were a career high. Former Astros manager Dusty Baker refused to put him into the lineup every day last season, limiting his playing time and numbers.
But I think McCormick is being overlooked by a lot of dynasty owners. He isn’t going to carry your team, but he is a solid player who will put up good numbers and be a reason why you win.
So let’s take a look at this week’s Up-and-Coming Dynasty Player.
