Hey Batter³ Contest, Week 7: For Whom The Bellinger Tolls

It was actually Billy Hamilton that led all batters in week 5 with 47 points, but since no one picked him, I’m moving down the list. Next up is Cody Bellinger who swatted 40 points. Guess what. No one picked him either. The first batter on the list to be picked was Matt Carpenter, but since he finished fifth I just don’t feel like he deserves to be highlighted. If you couldn’t tell by the title, I’m giving the honor to Bellinger. In 21 at bats he had 9 hits, including three home runs, and 12 RBIs. In addition, Adrian Gonzalez gave him the middle finger 37 times. Once again, only a stat you can get from us fine folk here at Razzball.

Ok fine, since I don’t expect Hamilton to find his way back to the top of this list I might as well say something nice while I have the chance. Billy stole nine bases in week 5. Last year Jackie Bradley Jr, Christian Yellich and Justin Upton each had nine all season. I know they’re not base stealers, but you should get the point. The dood steals bases!

Scoring 81 points the winner from week 5 was the contestant with the longest name. That would be Cannot spell wrong without Ron who picked Jose Abreu (26 points), Andrew Benintendi (29 points) and Michael Conforto (26 points). Nice rebound from last week! In second place was You Know Nothing, J.T. Snow with 79 points. I guess it was long name week. J.T. selected Jose Abreu (26 points), Matt Carpenter (37 points) and Carlos Santana (16 points).

Week 6

This week we have 48 players. Those 48 have selected 49 different batters. The most picked was Ian Desmond who was picked by 16. Next was Corey Seager (14 picks), and then Cody Bellinger, Justin Turner and Ryan Zimmerman were tied with 11 nominations. Only one Unpickable (Charlie Blackmon) and two Repickables were picked. Be sure to check the spreadsheet each week when making your picks to avoid getting zeros.

The current leader is DonSlaughtOnslaught with 50 points. Don’s picks include Robinson Cano, Miguel Sano and Corey Seager. In second place is Thor da Man with 49 points. Thor’s selections include Ian Desmond, Mark Reynolds and Cody Bellinger.

For those trying to figure out what this whole contest is all about, please re-read this post containing the rules. For those too lazy to do so, here are the basic rules. Each week you pick three batters (no pitchers). A week (scoring period) runs from Monday through Sunday. You must have your picks submitted by 1:00 PM EDT on Monday mornings. You submit your picks by leaving a comment in the comments section of that’s week’s contest post. Comment timestamps will be used to break any ties. Once you pick a player, you cannot pick that player again in any subsequent week. A card laid is a card played. This means that once you announce your picks in the comments section, you cannot change them. It doesn’t matter the reason.

The last thing to mention are the unmentionables. Actually they are called Unpickables. You cannot pick an unpickable. Well you can, but you will get zero points.

Each week is a new contest, but your weekly points will count towards your total points in the season long standings. The season will run fifteen weeks. At the end of the season there will be a five week playoff competition. In order to qualify for the playoffs you need to either win a weekly contest or finish in the top three overall season standings. That’s it. If you win more than one week and/or finish in the top three, you still only get one entry into the playoffs. However the person that finishes the regular season with the most points (first place), will be allowed to pick players from the Unpickables list during the playoffs (one per week). The winner of the playoffs will receive a brand new Razzball tee shirt. And that’s me plagiarizing me from last week again. Thank you cut and paste.

1B(+1), 2B(+2), 3B(+3), HR(+4), RBI(+1), R(+1), SO(-1), BB(+1), SB(+1), CS(-1)

Important Note: Please use the same name you’ve used in previous weeks with all future submissions. Otherwise your points will not be combined and you will lose ground in the overall standings.
