Hey Batter³ Contest: Rhys’s Pieces

ALL CONTESTANTS, BE SURE YOU READ THIS FIRST PARAGRAPH.

We are approaching week five of the playoffs. That is the final week for this contest. This week you only pick two players. Here’s the kicker. You cannot pick a player that anyone else has picked that week even if you haven’t picked that player yet in the playoffs. You will be able to change your pick if you accidentally pick a player that has been picked by another, but you must do so before the deadline. I will let you know if you need to select a different player in response to your comment. Before making your picks, please look at the comments to see what players have already been selected. Your picks are not locked until you see a response comment from me saying they are locked. However, you cannot change a pick if that player has not been picked.

The reason for this is because I want to prevent the first place team from waiting to see who the second place team picks and then picks the same batters so that he cannot be caught. This is not a new rule as it was clearly stated in the first week of the playoffs.

As we all know, there’s more than one way to eat a Reese’s. And who does not love a Reese’s? Well let me tell you how Rhys Hoskins eats his. He has a pitcher throw it at him and then he hits it for a home run. After he trots the bases, he heads to the stands, retrieves it, high fives the fan if he’s a Phillies fan, and then swallows it in one bite. True story. In the past fourteen days Rhys has 9 home runs across 50 at bats. During that same span Giancarlo Stanton also has 9 home runs over 50 at bats. Hoskins has two additional RBIs (21), one more walk (9) and four less strikeouts (9). So for as dominating as Stanton has been, Hoskins has been more dominating. I’m actually headed to Pawtucket tonight (Saturday) to see the Paw Sox host the Iron Pigs. When I bought the tickets I was hoping to see Hoskins, but I guess I will have to settle for Scott Kingery and his 23 game hitting streak.

As of Saturday morning Hoskins has 35 points in week 4. He is currently tied with Jorge Polanco for the lead. Marcell Ozuna has 32, and Stanton has 30.

Fungazi led the way with 80 points by picking Freddie Freeman (21), Giancarlo Stanton (35) and Adrian Beltre (24). Jay Bruce and Rhys Hoskins led all hitters with 41 points.

If you’re name’s not in the above scoreboard, that means you’re not in the playoffs. Just a reminder for those that are, make sure you don’t pick a player you’ve already picked the playoffs. And this week be sure not to pick a player someone else has already chosen this week. Finally, unless you’re name is LenFuego, don’t pick an Unpickable. And if you’re name is LenFuego, don’t pick more than one Unpickable each week. And don’t pick one you’ve already picked.

As an FU to Miguel Cabrera, I am removing him from the Unpickables. He is eligible to be picked by whoever first dares.
