So smooth and well crafted. Not talking about the Irish Whiskey. Talking about Pittsburgh Pirates Ace Jameson Taillon. Already matched zeros with Chris Sale in his first start, going 7 innings and striking out 6. The young prospect showed a lot of promise last season posting a 3.37 ERA in 104 innings of work. Priced at $16,200, he has good value as the Pirates are the biggest favorite of the night at -185. He faced the Reds last year at PNC Park and was able to come away with a Quality Start (6 IP, 1 run, 6 Ks). I expect a similar stat line and hopefully come away with the win as the Reds are throwing a rookie pitcher. Saving up on pitching can allow to rack up on some bats in Coors, a game in which Jared Weaver is involved and should be a slugfest. Now on to the picks.

J.A. Happ, P: $ 15,600 – Just keeps churning out Quality Start after Quality Start. I’m not sure what the guy has to do to earn some respect; his ADP in most draft was in the upper 180s. Toronto Blue Jays are the biggest favorite of the night at -185 going up against the Milwaukee Brewers. Strikeout potential is there as the Brewers as a team lead the MLB in strikeouts.
Nolan Arenado, IF: $10,200 – Started the season with a hit in six straight games and now gets Jered Weaver in Coors. Had an OPS of 1.030 and a wOBA of .422 last season at home.
J.T. Realmuto, IF: $6,900 – Just got named NL Player of the Week and off to a fantastic start to the season and has a good track record vs. ATL Bartolo Colon (9/21 1 HR).
Mitch Moreland, IF: $6,400 – Multi-Hit games in three of his last four and always a threat to get a dong vs RHP. Faces Dylan Bundy tonight who allowed 1.48HR/9 last season.
Charlie Blackmon, OF: $10,000 – In Coors? Check. Weaver on the mound? Check. He is starting to heat up after a slow couple games to start the season.
Carlos Gonzalez, OF: $9,600 – Read Above. Rockies going to be a trendy stack as always the case in Coors but Jared Weavers 80mph fastball should lead to a lot of runs.
Mark Trumbo, OF: $8,700 – Trumbo is due for a Trumbomb. Averaged a HR every 13 ABs last season, hasn’t homered since the season opener. He’s squaring off vs. Drew Pomeranz whose ERA was 2 runs higher after moving to American league and allowed 1.8 HR/9.
Starling Marte, UTL: $8,800 – Off to a blazing start and gets a rookie pitcher named Rookie Davis. Marte had better numbers last season vs. RHP and stole 41 of his 47 SB vs. righties.
Rougned Odor, UTL: $7,600 – He is priced really low for the upside that he presents. He is facing a lefty in Tyler Skaggs; Odor hit .269 last season vs. LHP compared to .272 vs. RHP. Also had similar OPS, so at this price I consider this a steal. He has already slugged three homeruns this season.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
PIT/CIN and SF/ARI are the only games that might get affected by the rain. Both games should be fine as no PPD threat is in play but as always make sure to monitor closer to game time.
Doing Lines In Vegas
Padres/Rockies O/U is set at 11.5 runs, should be a lot of runs scored with Weaver and a rookie making his Coors debut on the mound. Pittsburgh Pirates are a significant favorite at -185 vs. the Cincinnati Reds. Some runs are also expected between the Orioles and Red Sox, as the O/U is set at 9.5 runs.
