I was pretty happy with last week’s streamers. The only real dud was from Hayden Birdsong, but San Fran switched up the matchup on us. That will be a common occurrence from our streamers as the season progresses because these rotations tend to get bonkers throughout the second half of the year. The nonsense shouldn’t be too bad at this point but we’re about two months away from dealing with crappy updates from these managers and bizarre rotational changes every week. With that said, let’s look at the favorable matchups and then dive into this week’s streamers!

Favorable Team Matchups

7 Games

Chicago Cubs (at STL, at HOU)

New York Mets (vs. ATL, at PIT)

Seattle Mariners (at MIN, at TEX)

6 Games

Arizona Diamondbacks (at CWS, vs. MIA)

Cleveland Guardians (vs. TOR, vs. STL)

Colorado Rockies (vs. LAD, at MIL)

Detroit Tigers (vs. ATH, vs. MIN)

Los Angeles Dodgers (at COL, at KC)

Milwaukee Brewers (vs. PIT, vs. COL)

New York Yankees (at CIN, vs. ATH)

San Diego Padres (vs. WAS, at CIN)

San Francisco Giants (vs. MIA, at CWS)

Pitching Streamers

Eduardo Rodriguez, ARI (at CWS, vs. MIA)

It’s impossible to look at E-Rod’s averages and get excited, but we’ll bank on the positive regression hitting Rodriguez this week. The lefty has an unsightly 5.93 ERA and 1.62 WHIP, but he’s allowed two runs or fewer in three straight starts. Most importantly, Rodriguez has a 3.89 xERA, 3.99 SIERA, and 4.06 xFIP. That’s a better indication of how good E-Rod can be because we’re talking about a pitcher that had a 3.30 ERA and 1.15 WHIP just two years ago. Statistics like those are only a small variable when deciding on our streamers, but these two matchups couldn’t be better. Miami and Chicago sit bottom five in runs scored, OBP, OPS, and xwOBA since the start of last season. That’s why Rodriguez will likely be a -200 favorite in both of these games as well!

Streamonator Valuation: $14.8

Chad Patrick, MIL (vs. PIT, vs. COL)

We rarely recommend two two-start streamers, but how can we fade a guy with matchups like these? Pittsburgh, Colorado, Miami and Chicago are far-and-away the four worst offenses in baseball, with the Rockies and Pirates ranked bottom five in runs scored, K rate, OBP and wOBA. What’s even scarier is that both of these are home games for Patrick, with the righty likely entering both of these games as a -250 favorite. Those massive lines are less surprising when evaluating Patrick’s averages, providing a 3.50 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. He actually had a 2.84 ERA and 1.21 WHIP before two duds against the Cubs and Braves, but we’re willing to overlook that because Patrick has a 2.94 ERA and 1.20 WHIP at home this year.

Streamonator Valuation: $34.7

Mike Soroka, WAS (at LAA)

I never expected to see Soroka as one of my streamers at the beginning of the season, but this former stud has found something. The Nats righty has allowed four runs or fewer in all nine starts, posting a 3.38 xERA, 3.85 xFIP, 1.13 WHIP, and 9.2 K/9 rate. Those are numbers you usually see from a must-roster player, and it looks even better since Soroka has a 0.94 WHIP and 11.1 K/9 rate across his last three starts. This is a guy who had a 2.68 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in the one season he threw over 100 innings, and that sort of ability appears to be revived with a fresh bill of health. He should get even healthier against a team like LA, with the Angels ranked last in OBP and K rate.

Streamonator Valuation: $5.9

Jose Soriano, LAA (vs. WAS)

We had Soriano as one of our streamers earlier this season, and we’re going right back to the well. This righty has quietly had a solid stretch over the last two years, posting a 3.48 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in that span. The only thing that’s really inflated Soriano’s statistics is a seven-run shelling against Boston two weeks ago, with the righty allowing three runs or fewer in nine of his last 10 starts. Four of those have actually been scoreless appearances, with Soriano sporting a 2.78 ERA at home during that span. A home matchup with Washington should help extend that streak because the Nationals have lost 11 of their last 12 games while sitting 27th in OPS and 28th in runs scored during that stretch.

Streamonator Valuation: $11.6

Hayden Birdsong, SF (vs. MIA)

Birdsong struggled as one of our streamers last week, but we have to trust the process. The process tells us that Birdsong is a solid pitcher, tallying a 3.25 ERA and 1.33 WHIP so far this year. What has me most excited about Birdsong is that he benefits from pitching in San Fran because that’s arguably the best pitcher’s park in baseball. That’s evident in Birdsong’s splits, amassing a 2.73 ERA and 1.28 WHIP there this year. He’s also allowed three runs or fewer in 18 of 22 starts since last season, which seems like a lock against Miami in San Fran. The Marlins rank 20th in OBP, 22nd in wOBA, and 24th in runs scored. That was on full display when Birdsong allowed just one run to them across 5.1 innings three weeks ago.

Streamonator Valuation: $8.4

Hitting Streamers

J.P. Crawford, SEA (at MIN, at TEX)

I’m not necessarily a believer of Crawford from a fantasy perspective, but this guy is impossible to fade right now. This shortstop might be the hottest hitter in baseball, totaling a .388 AVG, .506 OBP, and 1.058 OPS across his last 18 outings. He also has two homers and three steals in that span while playing every day as Seattle’s leadoff hitter. Finding a leadoff hitter with a .500 OBP across a three-week span is truly remarkable, and it couldn’t be a better week for it since Seattle is one of the few teams with seven games this week. We didn’t even mention that six of those seven games are against right-handers, with Crawford collecting a .433 OBP and .874 OPS against them this year.

Sal Frelick, MIL (vs. PIT, vs. COL)

The Brewers might start a winning streak this week because having two home series against Pittsburgh and Colorado is a godsend. The Rockies rank last in ERA and WHIP, while the Pirates have nothing outside of Paul Skenes. That favorable schedule puts Frelick in a fantastic spot because this outfielder has quietly been moved up to the leadoff spot in Milwaukee’s lineup. That promotion is unsurprising since Frelick has a .333 AVG and .758 OPS across his last 23 outings. You can’t hope for anything more from one of your streamers, but the home splits are the icing on the cake. This outfielder has a .350 AVG, .424 OBP and .911 OPS in Milwaukee this year!

SAGNOF (Saves/Steals Ain’t Got No Face)

Steals Specialists

Jose Caballero (TB)

We have Caballero in this section every week, and he’ll remain in it. This multi-position player leads the league with 28 steals, swiping 19 of them across his last 28 outings. He doesn’t do much else, but that’s what you’re looking for from one of your streamers!

Victor Scott (STL)

Scott has been playing every day as the nine-hole hitter in St. Louis, recording 21 steals this year. He had 138 across 244 minor league games and will be a 50-steal threat as long as Scott plays daily.

Saves Specialists

Orion Kerkering (PHI)

This Phillies bullpen looks like a committee, but Kerkering and Matt Strahm have split the last four saves. Kerkerking is the more “typical” closer, compiling a 0.00 ERA and 1.10 WHIP across his last 17 outings.

Calvin Faucher (MIA)

Faucher is far from a typical closer, but he’s been the go-to guy in Miami since last season. He had six saves over his final 13 appearances last year and five saves over his last 10 games this season. It’s ugly, but Faucher is probably the guy in Miami.

Hi Blair,

Another manager offered to trade Mick Adell to me for Reese Olson. I was leaning to rejecting this trade

1. Do you agree that the trade should be turned down?

I checked his passing staff. The key members of his staff:

Louis Varland
Garrett Whitlock
Zack Wheeler
Clarke Schmidt
Jeff Brown
Hunter Brown
Ranger Suarez

2. Does it matter if the manager who offered this trade is currently in second place?

3. Who would you ask for in exchange for Reese Olson?

4. What do you think of asking for Clarke Schmidt in exchange for Reese Olson?

Thanks so much!!!

Who’s the best (low-owned) catcher stream this week?

I am an Ivan owner in a 12 teamer, H2H league. Had to keep catcher open to compete in pitching. New week, new challenges. Is A Ramirez a pickup given this circumstance? He seems much better than other options. I have one bench player (Stanton) who played today and will tomorrow. But I think I will unload on him for AR or a holds guy. What say you?
