Well that was fun right? Hope everybody had a great time yesterday hopefully hanging out with friends and family eating and drinking to your heart’s content. Cooked up some ribs and everybody devoured them so I guess my contribution to the gathering was a hit(or there wasn’t anything else). Played a little DFS yesterday did pretty good with the White Sox and Padres in some games so off we go to today where we have a nice tidy 11 game slate to discuss. My focus pitcher on today’s games is Max Fried ($9,100). If you watched the Brave game yesterday or highlights it went back and forth all game between the Marlins and the Braves pulled it out in extra innings on a pinch hit base hit by none other than your boy Max Fried. The way he celebrated it looked like he had just pitched a perfect game or something it was pretty cool to see. Fried has been pitching well of late after a dismal April and has a tasty matchup today against the Pirates who look pretty awful right now and other than the Diamondbacks have to be one of the worst teams in the league at the moment. Fantasy players are usually indifferent towards Fried as he can be sometimes soft at times and gets nicked up and misses starts but in certain situations Fried can really be dominant. Two starts stand out to me both in May where he went against the Dodgers and Cardinals and pitched a combined 13 innings with 13 k’s and only gave up 2 ER. Both of those starts where at home where Fried has pitched better but this road match up is just too good to pass up. The Pirates are throwing Chase Dejong out there who has not pitched well and I don’t see the Braves losing here. I think Fried carries his momentum from last night’s game into tonight’s game and pitches very well. Fried is one of the best pitchers right now at limiting hard contact and exit velocity and the lineup the Pirates threw out there against another lefty on Saturday (Lauer) had C Stallings in the 4th spot and guys like Oliva Evans and Newman in the starting lineup so the only righty batter that can really cause some damage is KeBryan Hayes. I think Fried will be owned significantly but with Gausman Woodruff Buehler and Musgrove there are other options that will lower his ownership. I think Fried goes at least 7 INN with 5 Hits 1 ER and 7 K’s and gets the win today.

C/1B- Willson Contreras ($2,600 ) .366 OBP and .952 OPS against lefties and faces Matt Moore and the Phillies today. Willson has a nice 5 game hitting streak but no HR in 9 games (June 24). Contreras bats at the top of the Cubs lineup and is an on base machine especially against lefties. I think he takes Moore deep today and he is cheap and low owned which benefit you greatly.

2B- Jonathan Schoop ($3,100) Schoop has maintained his torrid stretch of multihit games he had in June into July and has a 6 game hitting streak with 4 of those games having at least two hits. Schoop crushes lefties (.580 SLG and .925 OPS)  and gets Kolby Allard who has pitched moderately well since entering into the Rangers rotation but is prone to giving up some hard contact and HR’s. Schoop gets plenty of at bats at the top of the Tiger lineup who can score runs and I think Schoop has a great shot and driving in some runs today.

3B- Kris Bryant ($3,400 ) Going back to another Cub today against Moore. I realize the Cubs have been pretty awful lately riding a losing streak but Bryant has been hitting lefties to a tune of .762 SLG and 1.184 OPS and had 6 hits in the weekend series against the Reds with one of those coming on a HR during Saturday’s game. I think the Cubs had a reset here and start off the week with a win and get to Moore and the dreadful Phillies bullpen early and it’s a free for all after that.

SS- Willy Adames ($3,200) Price has risen sharply lately for Adames but for good reason as he has popped 4 HR in the last 10 games getting hits in all but one of those games. Adames has enjoyed the trade from the Rays to the Brew Crew and seems to have livened up that team and clubhouse. Adames hits righties well and faces Tylor (not Taylor) Megill the brother of Trevor Megill. I’m not sure why Trevor got the correct spelling name? Anyway Tylor made his ML debut on 06/23 and has had two starts with decent results going 4 and 5 INN respectively not getting a decision in either contest. He is prone to giving up the long ball as he has done in both of those starts. Adames has a great chance to keep his hitting streak going and taking one out today.

OF- Shohei Ohtani ($4,600) I don’t see how you don’t play him right now the way he is hitting. He faces a very mediocre pitcher in Martin Perez who is a lefty but Ohtani’s numbers are not much more regressed (.674 SLG and 1.004 OPS) facing lefties than righties. Pitchers are starting to become very careful pitching Ohtani but that leads to him getting on base and scoring runs which will also give you points. I do think Perez will challenge him today and Ohtani will be waiting.

OF- Randy Arozarena ($3,200) Targeting Logan Allen with my next two players. The first is Arozarena, Arozarena hasn’t lit the world on fire this season however he does make hard contact and hits lefties well. Randy didn’t have a hit this past weekend in the series against the Blue Jays and against Logan Allen who was terrible at the start of the season before getting demoted to the minors where he has looked good I think Randy finds this opportunity to his liking and gets a hold of one to drive out today.

OF- Manuel Margot ($2,700) The Rays haven’t been playing too great lately but again I think this is a good spot for their hitters against a subpar pitcher in Allen. Margot bats at the top of the lineup gets on base, sees lefties very well, and hit a HR on Saturday against the Blue Jays. It only takes one at bat to turn the tide and I think Margot and Arozarena at the top of the lineup can do some damage today against the Indians.

UTIL- Tyler Stephenson ($2,500) Breakout season for this kid. Going against Mike Minor and the Royals today which is a nice matchup for him. Tyler hits lefties at a nice clip  (.508 SLG and .837 OPS) doesn’t strike out and is taking good cuts at the ball lately. You could go with a chalkier Castellanos or Winker here if you have the room but wanted to me prudent and not give you folks all chalky picks today. Stephenson is a nice spend down from them and can get you results.

Taking Under 5.5 runs FF Angels vs Red Sox

Suarez has been decent pitched 5 strong vs Yankees last outing. Don’t think the runs start coming until after the 5th.
