Cheap is a relative term here, but the fact that Trevor Bauer ($11,000) is not the most expensive pitcher on tonight’s main FanDuel slate is a bargain. Sure, Rodon has been great, but Bauer is the top option tonight by a long shot. Miami ranks in the bottom ten in team OPS and in the top ten in team strikeouts. Bauer is at home and should absolutely cruise to victory. The Stream-o-nator has Bauer as double the value of every other pitcher tonight and he should be good for nearly double the FanDuel points. For cash games, there is really no other option, but you can feel free to get frisky in GPPs. If you’re rostering Bauer, you’ll need to dig for value bats, but if you want all those pricey Coors bats, you’ll need to get creative. Let’s dig, shall we.

Ian Anderson, SP: $8,600 – The first stop in cheap(er) pitching is Ian Anderson. Anderson has been a little all over the place to start the season, but his opponent tonight should make for a high scoring affair. The Brew Crew are bottom five in team OPS and have the second most strikeouts in the majors. I don’t love that Anderson is on the road here, but beggars can’t be choosers.
Chris Paddack, SP: $6,300 – Paddack has been, er, not great, and was treated like an opener the last time out. However, that was after a bout with COVID and he was facing a pitch count. That should be lifted, or at the very least increased. For this price, Paddack’s strikeout upside is well worth the risk. Pick Paddack and generate a huge Coors stack and cross your fingers.
Tucker Barnhart, C/1B: $3,000 – The first place we start our Coors stack is by placing a catcher here in the first base slot. We’ve got Jhoulys Chacin kicking things off for the Rockies and then, the bullpen I guess, but things are going to get ugly. I want as much Reds exposure as I can in my lineups.
Alec Bohm, C/1B: $2,400 – Anthony Kay is set to pitch for the Blue Jays, so a nice Phillies stack could be a fun pivot away from Coors in the unlikely event that game is a dud. Duds happen, and having an alternate stack that blows up is a fine way to take down a big GPP. Bohm is dirt cheap and in the heart of the Phils lineup.
Garrett Hampson, 2B: $3,000 – I’m not sure if Raimel’s thumb will force him from the lineup for a second straight night or what’s up with Charlie Blackmon, but if they are out, fire up some Hampson with a discount. Discounted, because, you know, they refuse to give him playing time.
Nick Solak, 2B: $2,900 – Another discount favorite of mine, Solak appears to be this year’s Rafael Devers for me, the guy I work into every article because he’s just too cheap.
Jose Ramirez, 3B: $3,600 – I’ll be honest, I’m probably starting Moose or Suarez here, but a dandy pivot would be Ramirez, who could be the highest priced 3B if it weren’t for the Coors bump.
Jean Segura, 3B: $2,800 – This Phils stack is looking very cost effective, Segura is also right in the heart of the order and should be primed for points against Kay.
Josh Rojas, SS: $2,700 – Once again, it’s difficult to not pay up at short. Rojas has been on fire though and Joe Ross isn’t going to do much to put that fire out. At this price, I really like Rojas as a pivot off the top guys.
Dansby Swanson, SS: $2,500 – Someone has to pick up the slack with Acuna out, right? Well, maybe not, but Brett Anderson doesn’t scare me much and eventually this Braves team has to start hitting.
Aaron Judge, OF: $3,900 – While everyone else is stacking Coors bats, sneaking Judge into the mix is a solid play. We’ve seen guys get hot at Camden Yards and just tee off on Baltimore pitching. Jorge Lopez and his 5.38 FIP isn’t doing much to keep Judge in check.
Willie Calhoun, OF: $2,700 – Another guy who has been red hot and is just priced too cheap. I could maybe see a little Rangers mini stack tonight.
Jarred Kelenic, OF: $2,200 – Quick! Get in before the price jumps! Kelenic smashed his first homer last night and Triston McKenzie should have him in a spot for more tonight.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
We could have a little weather watching to do in Colorado, but I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.
Doing Lines In Vegas
So many games are off the board right now, but I’m really liking the look of the Rangers at +160. Dane Dunning could keep the Astros in check and Luis Garcia isn’t a world beater by any means. The Astros certainly don’t deserve to be -175 favorites I don’t think.
