Man what a week in baseball. I’m really hoping for a seven-game NLCS between the Dodgers and the Mets. Three Games were all decided by two runs or less and an electric atmosphere. I think the Yankees may find a way to complete this collapse, but they do have an easier schedule than the Blue Jays/Rays. Does anyone want to win the AL Central or should we just let the Orioles take that spot in the playoffs? Anyhoo….Here are my DFS plays.

I’ll be bringing you my DFS picks for the main evening slate on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022. If you play on DraftKings, it is a 12-game slate starting at 6:05 Central time. This article will be primarily focused on the DraftKings slate, so if you play on Fanduel I encourage you to sign up for the DFS tools to help you make the best decisions for your lineups on FanDuel, DraftKings, and Yahoo.

Shane Bieber, SP: $10,600. Man is this an expensive option, and there’s a boatload of them tonight. I just don’t see passing on Bieber being a winning formula, especially in double-ups. The Biebs has figured out how to strike people out again and it has been beautiful. He is on a run of 7 straight quality starts with 54 Ks over that stretch and only one of those has totaled less than 25 FPTS. With the Royals trotting out Kris Bubic the chances for the win are nice, and so is their .677 OPS vs righties good for 26th in MLB.

Merrill Kelly, SP: $9,200. I thought about saving a little money here with Tyler Anderson, but at the end of the day, Merrill has been one of the most consistent starters with 10 of his last 12 outings resulting in quality starts. In two starts vs the Friars this year he has allowed one earned run over 10 IP. I will say that he has been one of the luckier pitchers in the game with only a .274 BABIP against and a 6.0 HR/FB%, but hey it’s Petco on Tuesday night so I’m not worried about the Home Runs.

Any Catcher, C: $2,000. With the two expensive pitching options, I will need to save on catcher. My old cheap reliable Christian Bethancourt isn’t available in this slew of games so it will need to be the next best cheap option available. Could see someone like Martin Maldonado, Andrew Knapp, or especially P.J. Higgins make an appearance if they are in the lineups.

Paul Goldschmidt, 1B: $6,200. Goldschmidt has slowed down a little over the last week, which to me means he is due. Nothing like a little Paulo Espino and the Nationals bullpen to get it going again. Espino started vs the Cards on July 30th and went 4.2 Innings giving up 7 Hits and 4 Earned Runs while striking out just 2.

Brendan Donovan, 2B: $2,800. Donovan doesn’t seem to be able to translate the mild speed/power combo from the minors he showed last year going 12 HR/19 SB. What he is showing is his 60 grade hit tool and it does seem to be something that will carry him to a major league career that will last. He’s gone hitless in his last three games after having a 12 game streak snapped. Again everyone can get back on track vs Espino tonight.

Nolan Arenado, 3B: $6,100. Notice a theme here? Arenado has the batting average over .300 and the home run total approaching 30. It’s like he never left Coors. Small sample size, but he does have a HR vs Espino in 2 Plate Appearances.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa, SS: $2,400. Not sure if you saw, but IKF homered for the second time Monday. Let’s ride the hot streak against the Twins for IKF. He’ll face Joe Ryan who has an ERA over 5 since June 1st. Sounds like a recipe for Home Run #3 in the Bronx tonight.

Corey Dickerson, OF: $2,400. Dickerson has a hit in 11 of his last 13 games including 5 multi-hit efforts. Haven’t seen his power stroke get going, but he’s playing against most righties and should be in the lineup for the Cardinals big night against Espino.

Oscar Gonzalez, OF: $3,100. The Big O has 5 Home Runs on the season in 232 At-Bats. Not something to strike fear into the hearts of opposing pitchers, but he has managed a .280 BA and seems to find his way into the scorecard almost every night even if it’s not in a big way. With me loading up on pitchers and Cardinals I need a little 6-9 point effort from a guy like Oscar. It can happen against Bubic tonight.

Anthony Santander, OF: $5,100. Santander is having a super quiet 27 Home Run season for the Orioles. The moving of the fences really hurt right handed batters at Camden Yards this year, but the park metrics for lefties are the same and Santander has taken advantage. He faces the Blue Jays and Mitch White tonight. White has an ERA over 7 since coming over from the Dodgers and I like the O’s to get to him a bit.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

Showers could be an issue again up the east coast so keep an eye on New York, Baltimore and Philly for delays.

I did mention I do a bit of Sports Handicapping. Follow me on Twitter @TheGreat Knoche for more info. It’s also football season which means our heaviest volume of plays available. I’ll give out a Free Play here every Tuesday, but you can find all my free and premium picks for MLB and other sports at The Odds Breakers

Lots of Big favorites as is typical of September baseball when contenders play teams that are eliminated from contention. I’m gonna stay away from those and hit the total in Baltimore targeting the over 8.5 Runs.
