Welcome back to second half MLB DFS picks with me, your host, @TheGreatKnoche. Wanted to give a quick update of all my fantasy exploits and where I am standing heading into the second half. Here at Razzball my Tuesday DFS picks are 6-8 in single-entry Double-up formats. We’ve cashed top 100 in 2 big tournaments with those lineups as well. Overall DFS for me is sitting at 49-39 in single-entry double ups and 4 overall top 100 cashes in tournaments. All that nets out for me at +9.4 units.
In regular fantasy, I did not make the cutline in Razzslam ending up at 147. The Rest of my NFBC Razzball and industry leagues are hot garbage with a 7th, 13th,14th, and 15th. Ouch. In RCLs here at Razzball I am 3rd in Perts, and 5th and 7th in two other leagues. ESPN Home league head-to-head categories I’m in 9th. My shining stars are my Yahoo cash league with a nice handle on first and my long-standing CBS Home league where I’m in second. It certainly won’t be my best year ever, but we’re still gonna cash some contests.
Big news in the call-up department Sunday night with Christian Encarnacion-Strand. Grey/Truss Hopefully we can just shorten that to CES from now on for typing purposes? The Reds and Pirates both emptying the prospect cupboard this weekend with lots of exciting potential stars making their debuts. Let’s see if any of them look like they are DFS values tonight if available shall we?
I’ll be bringing you my DFS picks for the main evening slate on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023. If you play on DraftKings, it is an 14-game slate starting at 6:05 Central time. This article will be primarily focused on the DraftKings slate, so if you play on Fanduel I encourage you to sign up for the DFS tools to help you make the best decisions for your lineups on FanDuel, DraftKings, and Yahoo.

Tarik Skubal, SP: $8,400. This is game number 4 or 5 for teams returning from the break so for the most part it’s the lower end starters going tonight with the exception being teams trying to save some innings on the younger arms. Skubal will be making his third start coming back from injury and thus far has looked very good. I think he was the better looking of the Tigers pitching prospects called up before his injury. So far this year it’s 11 Ks through 8 IP, and no earned runs allowed. He will face the Royals tonight who are 23rd in OPS vs. Lefties on the season at .694. Only concern for me is Salvador Perez who has three career Home runs off Skubal in limited action, but he may be out with a hamstring strain.
Bryan Woo, SP: $7,900. This is the second appearance in 3 articles for Woo, but his price is just wrong here. His 3.64 ERA is solid, and he has actually been unlucky with his xFIP at 3.28. He’s striking out over 11 batters per 9 innings. The Twins come to town tonight boasting the worst K-Rate in MLB. All this is a recipe for a big night for Woo.
Adley Rutschman, C: $5,200. I’m gonna fade Michael Grove of the Dodgers tonight and his 6.89 ERA. He is due for some positive regression with a .350 BABIP against, but there’s a lot of hard contact involved in that. As far as Adley goes in 338 ABs he has 55 walks and only 60 strikeouts. Couple that with his 12 Home Runs and I’m gonna do what I rarely do and pay up for a catcher tonight with winds blowing out in Baltimore.
Justin Turner, 1B: $4,300. A nice resurgence this season for Justin Turner in Boston. Currently sitting at .291 with 14 Home Runs and 56 driven in. He’s on a 12 game hitting streak right now coming into Oakland hot on Tuesday night. He’ll get Luis Medina tonight who’s rocking a 6.34 ERA.
Adam Frazier, 2B: $3,300. This price for a guy with 12 Home Runs is fantastic at this point in the season. He’s been in the lineups most nights even with Jordan Westburg getting some at-bats at 2nd base. The Michael Grove hate is real tonight.
Christian Encarnacion-Strand, 3B: $2,000. Yeah, he’ll be in more than 50% of lineups, but at this price, he should be. He won’t be in my personal tournament lineup, but in a double-up I think he has to be.
Gunnar Henderson, SS: $4,700. His strikeout rate is way too high, but the potential is there as shown by his 14 Home Runs at this point in the season.
Ronald Acuna Jr., OF: $6,600. With the cash we saved on CES and pitching we can afford Acuna’s heavy price tag here. With his .333 BA, 82 Runs, 23 HRs, 58 RBIs, and 43 steals he is having one of the best fantasy seasons of all time.
Anthony Santander, OF: $4,500. He has hit safely in eight consecutive games with three Home Runs in that span. Baltimore stack is complete.
Jordan Walker, OF: $3,100. We’ll close out the lineup with some more Rookie Nookie. Walker hasn’t lived up to all his high expectations just yet, but it’s only a matter of time with where his hard-hit rate is at. Seems like a good of a time as any with the Marlins starter still undetermined. It Should be Edward Cabrera coming off the IL or Bryan Hoeing. Either way, I love the match-up.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Strong winds will be blowing out in New York and Oakland. There are going to be storms up and down the east coast so keep an eye on Baltimore (Please no), Philly, and New York. Also, look for a chance of storms in Kansas City, and the biggest threat of postponement will be in St. Louis.
