It’s Masters Week! Let’s enjoy some Augusta themed tiers (hold the bigotry). First some (mostly bad) closer news.

    • Jose Leclerc blew a save and couldn’t get more than one out with a four-run lead. He’s earned some leash, but we’ve seen ineffective periods from him before. Expensive salads don’t melt down. He’s downgraded for a spell.
    • The Mariners can’t seem to get their bullpen sorted. Anthony Swarzak is their best arm but that means coming in when it’s the seventh or eighth. He should still see more saves than any other reliever for them.
    • Hate to say I told you so on Trevor May, but also I told you so on Trevor May. When in doubt back greed. His deployment is very characteristic of a team looking to save in arbitration. Not that he won’t see any save opps, they’ll just be too unpredictable for most of our leagues. Blake Parker gets most of the looks with Taylor Rogers matching up with lefties on occasion.
    • Raisel Iglesias got through a clean ninth inning for a save finally. That’s encouraging but between his struggles and being used in other innings I’m dropping him all the way to the bottom rung until we can feel comfortable in his stuff and role.

$12 Souvenir Hat

Dropping too much money on crap you don’t need is a quintessential part of the Masters experience. Will you ever wear this tacky shade of green and yellow again? No. Will that stop you from dropping beaucoup dollars on souvenirs? Also no.

Pimento Cheese Sandwichs

Is it a weird sounding food? Yes. They’re reasonably priced, though, and when in Rome…

Folding Chairs

There isn’t much glamour in their utilitarian existence. Having one will make your experience measurably better, however. Find some shade preferably to park yours.

Overfull Portapotty

The crowds are more respectful at Augusta than perhaps any other sporting event. These aristocrats of the golf world still have shit that stinks. It has to go somewhere and as the day wears on portable toilets get full. You don’t want to find yourself in desperate need of one in that status.

    ALL HAIL ,SHANE GREENE!
    Unbelievable. So far…
Making all of us who grabbed him because we simply needed a closer, look brilliant!
    Pimento Cheese, indeed!
Thank you for this valuable service, Roto-Wan.

Saves plus holds.. which 2 do you like best out of: Bradley, t Rogers, m barnes, s Dominguez? Thanks. Dominguez had one bad outing and Bradlley has given up some runs recently and has a whip of 1.7. Thx

I’d lean Barnes and Rogers, who gets favorable left on left match-ups.

So when Morrow returns does he vault ahead of Strop as the #1 Cubs closer?

    • Roto-Wan

That’s a whole can of worms. No idea if he gets the job or is even effective. I’d lean yes since they’re paying him to be a closer, but it’s a long road.

Think Jeffres has a shot at saves for the Brewers or will they continue to use Hader as the primary closer?

If Jeffress is healthy he absolutely mixes in for saves.

    14-team 5×5 roto (Saves+holds) league

LeClerc, Swarzak, and Strop are on my team. Parker is available.
Kolarek, Diego Castillo, Claudio, Sipp, Roe, and guys like Rodney, Hirano, Jeffress, and Seranthony Dominguez are also out there on WW.

I hate to carry too many RPs when I’m streaming SPs. Can you rank the top 3 on that big group?

I also have Kimbrel and Betances stashed so I don’t necessarily need guys who will be in it all year.

I was high on Castillo until this recent outing. If he bounces back I’d consider adding him for Strop. Jeffress is also intriguing.

        OK, thanks.

The only problem with adding Jeffress is I would be forced to start him active as soon as I added him since he’s on the IL for that week. I can’t add him and stash him.

Would you elevate Minter now that Vizcaino is injured?

Some. More if the news on Viz is particularly bad. This isn’t the first time the Braves have had to do this dance.
