FantasyDraft: Yu Nola It’s The Last Monday For DFS Baseball

Wow!  Time really does fly when you’re having fun.  I honestly can’t believe that the 2017 fantasy baseball season is already over…well, almost.  Kudos to you who are still fighting the good fight all the way til the end.  Tip of the cap to you.  It’s been real fo sho and I hope you all have a great offseason but before you go, let’s talk about our two top arms tonight.  Yu Darvish at $24,00o is the top pitcher on the board tonight and I love the start against the Padres.  I know we’ve been picking on them all year and if my calculations are correct, it’s paid off, about 82% of the time.  Darvish had a rough time finding his groove in Dodger blue right out of the gate, but he’s thrown up two 23+ fantasy point starts in the last 2 weeks.  I’m crossing my fingers for a 30+ night, time to let the big dog eat.  Meanwhile, Aaron Nola at $15,600 is facing the Nationals tonight and the Streamonator loves this start right behind Darvish.  Frankly, Nola has been great all year and the Nats have been resting guys.  If Nola gets a light Washington lineup then all in on him in both cash and tourney play.  Now that are pitching is locked and loaded, let’s go see who we can pair with Stanton in Coors.

FantasyDraft: When There’s a Short Slate, Go All In On Pitching

With only seven games on the schedule today we’re spending the bulk of our money on starting pitching, because once you get passed the top 3 arms, there’s not a whole lot left.  Clayton Kershaw, $26,700 at Philadelphia and Patrick Corbin, $18,600 at San Diego are on top of the Streamonator and I’m feeling both matchups.  They’re both lefties, the’ye both facing two terrible offenses who strike out more than most teams in the league and they’re the cream of the crop tonight.  It’s Kershaw’s four start coming off the DL, so he should be in a good groove and he won’t be on a pitch count less than a 100 pitches.  The reins should be off tonight and I’m thinking he’ll come away with a W and double digit Ks.  Corbin got rocked for 8 ER in 4.1 innings at home against the Padres back on September 8th.  Look for a monster bounce back game in pitcher friendly Petco tonight, as I’m sure he’s been studying tape. Now that we’ve spent a good chunk on our pitchers. let’s get creative and see what we can do on the offensive side.

FantasyDraft: The C & C K’ing Factory

Carlos Carrasco, $25,500 and the red hot Cleveland Indians are hosting the team formally known as the Detroit Tigers.  If you haven’t been keeping track the current Tigers aren’t posting a fearsome lineup by any means.  Nick Castellanos is swinging a hot bat, but other than him they are ice cold and Carrasco es en fuego!  Over his last three starts he’s 2-0 with 23 innings pitched, 24 Ks and 2 ER.  Yes, please and thank you.  Carrasco is the highest priced pitcher tonight, but with some creative pairing I’m confident we can piece together a winning roster.  Brandon Woodruff, $14,100, versus Pittsburgh is just what the doctor ordered to balance out the high price tag of Carrasco.  Woodruff has been very serviceable since being called up in early August.  He’s 1-1 with 1.52 ERA, with 20 Ks in 23.2 innings.  He’s facing a scuffling Pirates squad that’s only won 4 of it’s last twelve games and they’ve only scored a total of 6 runs over the last 5 games.  There’s not a ton of data to go off of for Woody, but I’ll take with the discounted price tag tonight.  Now that our pitching is set, let’s take a look at our offensive options.

FantasyDraft: Throw Some Dickey’s On The Barbie And Call It A Ray

I’m hoping that most of you reading this at the very least have the day off, if not, my condolences to your summer.  For those of you still standing, reading, celebrating or partying, I’m here to give you some quick advice on tonight’s late games in DFS.  We are on a limited slate of only five games, so it’s going to be all or nothing tonight.  R.A. Dickey, $13,600 is at home vs the Rangers and I have a feeling the knuck-knuck will be dancing in the deep South’s overwhelming humidity.  He was lights out on Wednesday when I streamed him in Philly, posting a solid 8 innings, with 9 Ks and only giving up 1 ER.  He’s facing a Texas team that hasn’t seen him since May of last year and he dealt, 8 innings with 6 Ks and 0 ER.  Long story short, don’t be a dick and get you some R.A. tonight with a side of the double RR.  That’s right!  I’m all in on Robbie Ray, $21,000 who is facing the Dodgers in Los Angeles tonight and his road splits are insane!  Full disclosure?  I didn’t feature Ray today because I already did earlier this season and I didn’t want to repeat.  Yes, I’m endorsing him even against the mighty Dodgers.  I shouldn’t have to back up my picks with statistics, but I know you need to see the numbers to verify my claims.  Chase Field; 5-4, 4.50 ERA, with 82 Ks over 64 innings.  Like a young Willie Nelson our Ray Gun is ready to rock it “On The Road Again” where he’s 6-1, with a miniscule 1.49 ERA to go along with 88 K’s over 66.1 innings.  I know Willie warned our moms against letting their babies growing up to be cowboys, but this is one young buck who likes to go rogue and put up numbers on the road.  Now that our pitching is locked and loaded, let’s take a look at our offensive options.

FantasyDraft: Welcome To The Klub Puke Soup

They call him the Shark, but Jeff Samardzija, $17,400 can go from blood sniffing predator to Puke Soup in the blink of an eye.  He’s been so inconsistent it’s hard to endorse him for DFS, but I’m taking a chance and letting him in the cool kids klub.  Surprisingly enough, he’s actually strung together 5 QS over his last six while going 4-1 over that span.  His 32 Ks over the last 39.1 innings are a little low, but he shouldn’t have any problem racking them up against the Padres in Petco tonight.  His price tag leaves me enough room to pair him up with the human K machine, Corey Kluber, at $25,200 vs the Yankees.  Aaron Judge might contribute 3 or 4 himself and the rest of the Yankee lineup shouldn’t give Kluber too many problems.  Kluber has been en fuego, with 6 double digit strikeout games in his last 8 starts, that’s straight fire son!  The pitching is a little pricey tonight so fair warning that we’re going to have to get a little creative with the offense.

FantasyDraft: Let’s Take A Walk On The Wild Side

Taijuan Walker, $15,000, is an absolute steal against the Quad A Mets in Citi Field tonight!  Granted, he’s been scuffling a little bit as of late, but it’s the dog days of summer and I guarantee he’ll dominate tonight.  The Mets were one of the biggest sellers during the trade deadline and basically they have Yoenis Cespedes as their one sole major league hitter.  The rest of the team is a mish mash of Quad A talent and they’ll post big strikeout numbers vs a strikeout pitcher.  I encourage you to take a walk on the wild side tonight because it will pay off big time!  My other SP for tonight is Chris Stratton, $13,600, vs the strikeout prone Milwaukee Brewers.  The Brew Crew ranks numero uno in Ks versus RHP.  Stratton isn’t anything special, but he’s at home in a pitchers park vs the top K’ing team in the league.  I’ll take my chances, especially with his discounted salary. Now that we have our pitchers in place tonight, let’s throw some cash towards our offense.

FantasyDraft: Discount Double Check

That’s right DFSer’s, you read that correctly, it’s Discount Double Check time!  I’m not too thrilled with the pitching slate tonight, so instead of payin’ top dolla’ for some so-so matchups, I’m going grab a couple under the radar guys and lots of offense.  First up on the Blue Light Special, we have Jake Junis, SP $11,100.  Last Week, he came out of nowhere and threw up 31.60 points against a strong Seattle Mariners team.  He went 8 IP, 1 ER and 7 Ks, not too shabby for a guy who is going for a little more than my top offensive picks for tonight.  He’s facing an Oakland team who is one of the worst in the AL and they lead the league in K’s vs RHP.  He doesn’t have the home cookin’ on his side, but he is in a very good pitchers park.  Let’s hope this Blue Light Special goes all Blue Streak and delivers a gem for us at a discount.  Matching up nicely with JJ is Jerad Eickhoff, SP $15,600.  J-Rad has the lowly Padres in San Diego tonight, Yes, Please and Thank You.  He threw up a juicy 27 points against them last month in Philly, so I’m hoping he can surpass that tonight in pitcher friendly Petco.  Now that we’ve scrapped the bottom of the barrell for our starting pitching, let’s have some fun and spend some cash on offense.

Due to their continuing dominance throughout the season, I’m endorsing the two big Dominican arms on the slate for tonight, Ervin Santana, $18,200 vs the Brewers and Carlos Martinez, $16,300 at the Royals.  Fun fact, Ervin Santana’s real name is Johan Ramon Santana.  Yeah, his birth name was Johan Santana.  Do you remember another SP named Johan Santana?  In case you forgot, he was a two time Cy Young winner and he also pitched for the Twins?  Yeah I remember that, I guess it’s ironic or even poetic justice that a guy who changed his name in order to not be confused with one of the most dominant lefty’s ended up on the same team as his predecessor.  Ervin is facing the Brewers tonight, who rank second in Ks versus RHP.  Yes, please, and thank you!  CMart has a tough task against the Royals tonight, but I have feeling he’s going to take advantage of a team that just wrapped up a double header yesterday.  Now that the pitching is locked and loaded, let’s take a look at our offensive targets for tonight.

FantasyDraft: Catch Me If You McCann

My dislike for catchers in DFS is well documented.  Thankfully, FantasyDraft has an awesome format that doesn’t require me to waste money or a roster spot.  IMO, catchers in fantasy are an absolute waste of time and I’ll never understand the two catcher formats.  That said, I’m throwing out the playbook for the day because today is the Ultimate Zig Day.  Yep, I’m rostering not one, not two, but three catchers for tonight and I’m hoping their stats are sweeter than a Tres Leches cake.  Brian McCann, $7,200 is my numero uno because he mashes against Alex Cobb posting a solid 8/15 with 2 HRs.  At $7,200 he’s solid value as he’s back at home in Minute Maid Park and he’s got 2 HRs over his last four games.  Salvador Perez, $7,600 is my number two because he has an excellent matchup against Ubaldo Jimenez in hitter friendly Camden Yards.  We all know about Baltimore’s pitching woes, but Ubaldo is rocking an extremely hitter friendly 8.42 ERA at home.  WOW!  I’ll be adding a few more Royals to the roster tonight, K.C. Stack anyone?  Rounding out catcher heavy lineup is J.T. Realmuto, $7,200.  He’s facking Gio Gonzalez who has been pitching well this season, but he’s giving over 1.50 ER more when pitching on the road.  Now that we’ve got our infield set, let’s see who’s going to rack up our Ks for the night.

FantasyDraft: Shake Ya Tail Feather and Get deGrom On It

I know it’s a little early for Throwback Thursday, but my Baltimore Boo is visiting later this week, so Thursday can’t get here fast enough.  I’m endorsing two guys tonight who have been racking up DFS points like a young MJ over their last six starts.  Brad Peacock, $22,400 is facing the not-so Fightin Phil’s in Philly tonight and he could easily rack up double digit K’s versus the lowest scoring team in baseball.  Peacock has been shaking his tail feathers all over the mound in his last six starts, averaging a solid 24 points per start.  A quick look into the numbers and you can easily see why he deserves to be strutting around; he’s 5-0 with a 1.84 ERA to go along with his 11.8 K/9.  I  know the Phillies play in a hitters park, but Peacock should easily post 25 points tonight and if he can get through 6 innings, he could possibly eclipse the 30 point mark.  Jacob deGrom, $26,100 is the most expensive player on the night, but he’s facing a Padres lineup who rank third in K’s versus RHP.  Apparently Jacob got his groove back because over his last six starts, he’s 6-0 with a 1.62 ERA to go along with an improved 8.6 K/9.  Obviously deGrom will be highly rostered tonight, so if you want to zig when others zag, then follow my lead to see what’s next.

FantasyDraft: All Aboard The S.S. K Machine

Stephen Strasburg, $24,800 is taking the mound tonight against the Braves and I for one purchased my ticket for the SS K machine back on Thursday.  The good news is, there’s still tickets available, the bad news is they’re a little pricey.  I hate to use the word underrated when it comes to Strasburg, but all you hear about is Kershaw, Mad Max, Keuchel and Greinke.  Where’s the Love for Strasburg?  His last four starts are ridiculous, 3-1 with 5 ER and 41 K’s over his last 27.2 innings.  Yes, you read that correctly, 41 K’s over his last 27.2 innings (Mic drop).  I’m matching Strasburg up with Jameson Taillon, $13,600 who’s got the Rockies fresh off the DL.  Now I typically don’t like starting guys coming off the DL due to pitch counts, but Taillon wasn’t gone due to any baseball related injury and he was hitting 97 on the radar gun in his last rehab start.  He was straight money before the sudden cancer diagnosis and I’m sure it’ll be an emotional night for the Pirates team upon his return.  I think Taillon will have a little extra juice in the tank tonight and at this price I can’t pass him up.  Now that we got our pitching locked in let’s see what offense is going to help us cash in.

FantasyDraft: G’s Up, ER’s Down

It’s an extremely short schedule tonight with only seven games, five NL and only two AL contests.  Carlos Martinez, $24,300, is the top pitcher facing the Reds tonight in the Great American Home Run Park.  I’m staying away from this game mainly because of the weather, but I might slide in a hitter from this contest.   I’m not touching anyone in the PHI at ATL game.  This is strictly a weather related decision, as I do like Bartolo Colon at only $11,200.  Enough about who I’m not rostering, let’s talk about my two Monday night G’s.  Gio Gonzalez at $15,600 at the Dodgers looks like it could be a scary play, but the Dodgers are only hitting .247 vs LHP and are in the top seven in Ks.  Gio has been solid all year as he’s only let up 4 or more ER twice, against the O’s (6 ER) and the Braves (4 ER).  The Nationals offense has been mashing all season and with them behind him, he can easily cruise to a win while picking up 6-8 Ks along the way.  My other G for tonight is, Junior Guerra, $15,200 vs the Giants.  He’s been solid in his 2 starts since coming of the DL, 11.2 IP, 1 ER and 9 Ks.  I’d the to see more Ks, but he’s locating the ball where he wants to and he can throw gas.  Granted he’s at home in a hitters park, but it’s against the Giants and I like the matchup.  Now that we’ve got a ton of cash to spend on offense, let’s go shopping…[EDITOR’S NOTE]: right after I bring the best $5 deal you can find!  We have our weekly Razzball Listener’s League going down tomorrow.  Hop in, drop that fiver, and win some of our monies!  Now on with the show.
