Alex Wood, SP: $7,400 – Alex Wood is my favorite cash game pitcher on the slate. Despite the high ERA, he has the lowest SIERA on the slate (3.40), a respectable 23.7% strikeout rate, and a solid 6.8% walk rate. A downside to him on FanDuel is he doesn’t get to six innings; he often pitches 5.0 or 5.1 innings (only reached 5.2 innings once), so the quality start isn’t there. The Giants can easily win this game and he has some strikeout upside. For the $3K savings to get some bats, it’s worth it.
Sean Manaea, SP: $10,200 – Manaea has the highest strikeout rate on the slate (26.4%), a good 3.55 SIERA, and unlike Wood, he goes over six innings frequently. Is it worth paying $3K more to get a better chance at a quality start?
Joey Votto, C/1B: $2,500 – Votto is not having a good year, but Joan Adon has a 5.15 SIERA and a 12.9% walk rate. At a near-minimum price, in a game the Reds should score some runs… Why not take a shot here?
Josh Bell, C/1B: $3,100 – Yeah, the ISO is low (.114), but a .304 average and .384 on-base percentage against a rookie pitcher with 10.2 innings under his belt? Yes, please.
Jake Cronenworth, 2B: $2,800 – Cronenworth is off to a slow start but also is inexpensive. He is a career .258 hitter with a .177 ISO, so that .211 average and .111 ISO this season should improve over time. Adrian Houser is a low strikeout pitcher (17.8%) with a mediocre SIERA (4.48), and the Padres should put up runs here.
Edwin Rios, 3B: $2,600 – Taijuan Walker has a 4.91 SIERA, 13.2% strikeout rate, and an 8.3% walk rate. The Dodgers bats are good ones with Rios being the best value. Rios has a .340 wOBA and .230 ISO against right-handed pitching this season and should bat in the middle of the order.
Dansby Swanson, SS: $3,900 – With all the value above, we can pay up for some Coors Field exposure. Gomber is prone to blow-ups, some even call it getting “Gombered” on Twitter when you start Gomber in your roto league only to watch up get blown up. The Braves are implied for over six runs and Swanson has a .380 wOBA and .230 ISO against left-handed pitching this season.
Juan Soto, OF: $3,800 – It was talked about earlier how the pitching matchup is favorable for the Nationals. I don’t mind a Bell-Soto mini stack even in a cash game. Soto is batting just .227 but his ISO is .205, he has four steals. He has as much upside as anyone on this slate and isn’t the most expensive hitter.
Sam Hilliard, OF: $2,600 – If you want some Rockies, the popular value will be Yonathan Daza, who should bat second. Hilliard is the better value, however, as he has a .300 wOBA and .170 ISO at home with a platoon edge as well. Likely to bat seventh, he will not be as popular either.

Doing Lines In Vegas
I like the Giants (+120) over the Marlins. Miami might have the starting pitching edge, but San Francisco is the better offense and better overall team.
