We’ve got a weird set of slates scheduled for today on FanDuel. The weather really caused some havoc with things yesterday and could again today. We’ve got double headers galore, which has created a five game early slate and a four game main slate. I’ll provide plays for both slates today and we’ll kick things off with the main slate where Mike Foltynewicz ($7,100) provides a nice pivot in GPPs. Folty’s been pretty rough, I get it, but considering he’s facing the Mariners, he’s basically got a 50-50 shot at a no-hitter. The Mariners have the league’s worst team OPS and are in the top ten in strikeouts, a nice combo for an opposing pitcher. Folty’s 6.8 K/9 isn’t very inspiring, but I’m hoping with the opponent, we can squeak in a few more Ks and get away with a win. The reduced price will allow us to stack some big bats that others will miss out on from rostering Julio Urias, Ian Anderson or Adam Wainwright. Julio is your cash game play today, no doubt about that, but the $4,000 you save is the difference between an OF with Acuna and Mookie vs. Pavin Smith and Kyle Lewis.

Nathan Eovaldi, SP: $7,500 – Like Folty, Eovaldi is our early slate pivot of choice. If you trust in Rudy’s tools, this may even be a spot to play Eovaldi in cash games and pivot off Darvish entirely. The Stream-O-Nator has Darvish at $0.1 on the road in HOU with Eovaldi checking in at $14. It makes some sense, Eovaldi is at home against the Marlins who rank in the bottom five in team OPS. Darvish is on the road facing the Astros who own the league’s second best team OPS. A shot of EVOO and some alphabet soup could make for a nice start to your long weekend, don’t you think?
Will Smith, C/1B: $2,900 – Dodgers and Blue Jays are going to end up being the stacks of the day, and I like sneaking Smith in at the catcher position here for a little discount for bigger bats later. Are you aware that Smith is currently rocking a 1.004 OPS vs RHP? He should be primed for a big game vs. Logan Webb
Matt Olson, C/1B: $3,600 – It’s going to be hard to fade Vlad here, but you could also put him at 3B, however, I have a play I like there too. Flip a coin I guess, but I love Olson’s power upside here against Alex Cobb. It will come down to roster construction for me and I’ll fill in here with Vlad or Olson depending on how much I have leftover.
Ozzie Albies, 2B: $3,100 – That is some cheap Albies. Wasn’t he $4,100 not that long ago? Take the discount and run!
DJ LeMahieu, 2B: $3,000 – Another price that seems just too cheap, I’ll load up on DJ’s consistency all day at this price.
Matt Carpenter, 3B: $2,000 – This is a play you’ll have to check the lineup for. Carpenter isn’t playing often, but facing Matt Peacock or Seth Frankoff or whatever frankenpitcher the D-Backs are sending out there is pretty darn juicy. If Carpenter sits, pivot to Yoshi Tsutsugo, who should be starting for the Dodgers against a RHP.
Manny Machado, 3B: $3,400 – Our BvP play of the day, Machado has blasted four homers off Odorizzi. Machado has to be playing today, right? He’s had a week to rest up and a game to shake the rust off. Speaking of rust, who knows what Odorizzi is going to look like, the Padres could have a field day here.
Josh Rojas, SS: $2,300 – I think we’re at the point where we can start stacking against Wainwright as we bet on when the blow-up will happen. It has to happen soon, there’s no way he maintains an ERA under 4 the whole season. Rojas shouldn’t be this cheap given his upside to put up points in many different ways.
Bo Bichette, SS: $4,100 – This is where that Eovaldi savings will come into play as I want to play Tatis or Bichette in this spot in addition to stacking my OF. The Blue Jays are going to go ham tonight, you want pieces of that.
Cody Bellinger, OF: $3,500 – High risk, high reward coming off an injury but an OF of Acuna, Mookie and Bellinger is pretty dreamy.
Willie Calhoun, OF: $3,000 – If you’re looking to save a bit, Calhoun vs Dunn is sure to put Willie in a spot to score plenty of points. Tyler O’Neill would also be a good choice here.
Kyle Tucker, OF: $2,700 – If everyone is going to be playing Darvish today, why not toss in a couple Astros so you can double up on the field? Tucker would be a nice, cheap place to start.
Tommy Pham, OF: $2,800 – Like I said above, Odorizzi could be pretty rusty and I like all the Padres tonight, Pham is a cost-effective way to get in on that action, as is Jurickson Profar.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
I’ve had about enough of the rain and cold for this weekend. Unfortunately, we still have rain hanging around in Boston, which could cause issues for Eovaldi. It does look like it will clear later at least. Keep your eyes on the radar as lock approaches.
Doing Lines In Vegas
The Dodgers (-190) and the Yankees (-150) are the big favorites for the two slates. I didn’t mention Deivi Garcia for the Yanks at all, but that could be a fun play as well, the Tigers also provide that 50-50 shot at a no-hitter. ATL@NYM features the lowest over/under at 6.5 runs which is great news for Ian Anderson. The STL@ARI game has the highest run total at 10 runs, so stack those Cards.
