Grey was in such a great mood to begin the podcast, talking about frolicking around town on his off day eating rolled ice cream and LA ham sandwiches with little Asian girls. That is until I mentioned a bad podcast review we got on iTunes, which irreversibly changed the tone of the entire podcast and had him flying off the handle. He talked crap on the comments he gets under his daily articles which bother him, he goes hard at Fangraphs for incorrectly predicting Rougned Odor’s lack of power would make him cry at the all-star break, and he threatens to ban the IP address of the rogue bad reviewer if he ever finds out who did it. Through the angst, we manage to breakdown his Top 100 2nd Half Rankings, starting at the top with Bryce Harper, Paul Goldschmidt, Max Scherzer, Clayton Kershaw, and Mookie Betts. We dig into his optimistic Aaron Judge ranking and cautious Cody Bellinger ranking, and also discuss his ranking of young aces Lance McCullers, Luis Severino, Alex Wood, and James Paxton. Finally, we bring on our boy Kenneth Cashman from RotoWear.com to talk t-shirts and rapping, and he leaves us with an insane Razzball rap to end the interview. It’s the latest edition of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast:

@Halp: On the one hand, that’s a miracle due to spreadsheets and the fact you’re the Mets (right?)

@Canle: I would be careful because there is a lot of risk there coming off his injury, but yea he can be worth a pick up to see if he comes back healthy.

16 team 4 player keeper league – I got offered Jon Lester, Jason Vargas and Miguel Cabrera for Cody Bellinger. Too good to reject?

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Mo Money: Nah, I can see passing that up in a keep 4 league. It would depend on who my keepers were for next year, because Bellinger is the best keeper of that bunch.

    (link)

What are us non-Apple people supposed to do? Do you guys check your stitcher ratings, etc?

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Jaaaaaake.crab: Not sure about the stitcher stuff. I didn’t do anything differently than I’ve done any other time, so not sure what the issue would be.

      • Jaaaaaake.crab says:
        (link)

@Halp: Nah, you’re confusing this reply with the guy who is all up stitcher’s butt. I use a different podcast app but because I use Android stuff I don’t have an itunes set up.

Every podcast talks about their itunes rating, and I get it, but the market is overwhelmingly Android and NOT Apple. I don’t want to get started on that mess, and I don’t personally care what people use, but when any podcast, not just you guys ask for iTunes ratings, I have to wonder, are sponsors really that backward that they only look at iTunes ratings?

        • Halp

          Halp says:
          (link)

@Jaaaaaake.crab: Yea, I figured that out. I think sponsors just care about listeners.

        • knucks says:
          (link)

@Jaaaaaake.crab: ^^ You mean that knucks guy? Yea, he all stitched up in that azz.

  6. Slappy Jack says:

    Another quality podcast!
Idk how much love you guys are getting on these but, the weighted comments created plus (wcc+) seems low vs. replacement level razzball features

I loved how perma- triggered Grey got about the bad review, haha …

Also, that part about age difference more towards the end, I thought was something we all gloss over sometimes ; mostly unintentionally , whether it’s Judge vs Bellinger (25 vs 21) … or getting down on young milb pitchers in leagues way over their heads (M.Soroka comes to mind)

and that rap was highly entertaining!
    thanks!

    • Halp

      Halp says:

@Slappy Jack: Thanks, Slappy Jack. Truly appreciated! And agreed with you on your other thoughts too.

      • Halp

        Halp says:
        (link)

@Daniel mansoor: ha, I would say you have a pretty well balanced team (and obviously in good shape being in first place). Don’t think I would be searching to make a deal unless something came across that was too good to pass up. Depending on how many teams you have in your league, you might want another closer. And you can always use another starter too but you aren’t exactly weak there.

        • Daniel mansoor says:
          (link)

@Halp: cool thanks for the input. Just a little worried about McCullers being shut down and or Lester shitting the bed. U think a trade like Harper for sherzer a good idea in my situation?

          • Halp

            Halp says:
            (link)

@Daniel mansoor: i understand it, but it seems like making a move just to make it. I also dont think your offense is stacked enough to spare harper

    • @mikeMaher: Thanks man, I had to make sure I came correct if I was gonna hop on a Cypress Hill beat

  10. Cable says:

H/H points. ROS have to drop 1. L Morrison or C Davis

    • Halp

      Halp says:

@Cable: Considering a strained oblique has caused a down year for Davis before and Morrison has been crushing it, its gotta be Morrison.

Drop Story or Hanley for Polanco, Yonder, Bour, M. Reynolds, C. Santana, or Pham?

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Amos2050: As much as I like Clevinger I think you still have to go Duffy. If you don’t need Story at SS you should probably move on for one of those guys too.

@Brandon: I can see trading one of your hitters for a pitcher. Obviously depends on the deal of course

      • Brandon says:
        (link)

        @Halp:
With Kershaw going down and due back 2 weeks before playoffs start would goldschmidt for kershaw be a good move? And it’s a keeper so I feel he’s an upgrade because godly 31 . And thank you so much , love your work here all you guys !

  16. J-Hova says:
    (link)

That rap was great. i felt like i was listening to Canibus before Wyclef got to him. any way we can get that on it’s own file so i don’t have to keep rewinding the Podcast?

Grey, super sad about KRS. Your story combined with he refereeing to the wrong Beastie Boy in his tribute song this past album is enough for me to realize my heroes are old now.

Last, i agree with you guys getting heated over the review. I was driving and it put me in a pissy mood. The podcast is in complete alignment with the sites content so not sure how you can listen and not like if you’re a fan of the site. And if you do, why expend the energy to write a bad review.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

I know! Thanks, man! I appreciate that… we’ll see if we can get Kenny to make the track available

      • @Grey: Shit I forgot how sick Canibus was back then, that verse on the Lost Boyz album was ridiculous. I just threw the Razzball rap up on kennethcashman.com – it’s a Soundcloud page that’s got some more #RotoRhymes as well as some old shit from the KRS-One show days.

        • @Kenneth Cashman: Not sure how to make the URL an actual link. Liam Neeson would be disappointed. But the track should be downloadable!

  17. mrbaseball says:
    (link)

Anthony Alford or Hunter Renfroe SD – RF for next year in keeper league

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@mrbaseball: In a vacuum I would lean Alford, but if there are a lot of good prospects available every year in your league, I may stick with Renfroe. It is close enough where it would heavily depend on what I think would be available to me in the draft and on waivers in 2018.

  18. Miles says:
    (link)

I enjoy the podcast and I know a little “cussing” is the razzball style but this episode was way overboard. it was not pleasant to listen to Grey’s nonstop screaming obscenities. my ears are bleeding.
try to be a little more tasteful, or at least less… untasteful

  19. Steve says:
    (link)

I finally reviewed the podcast on iTunes. You’re back up to 5 stars! I don’t mind the cussing, probably because I usually listen to FanGraphs first (it comes out a day earlier), and it can be a bit dry sometimes because it’s very science-oriented. You guys use the same info, but talk about it on a higher level, giving you more time to talk about fun stuff and giggle with each other. Just my two cents. Keep up the great work!

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Steve: Thanks, Steve! Those damn scientists at Fangraphs have nothing on us!

  20. No real questions from me today, I am looking to drop Merrfield for Inciarte off of waivers Friday. I did want to say that the podcast was funny as hell and still gave great info with giggles and all. Look, you guys take this seriously and you care about what your’re doing, its obvious and i appreciate every word and minute but in my 39 yrs Ive learned that haters are going to hate. Dont let it get you down Grey, its all good.
    And I loosely quote;
“Who takes the time to listen to podcasts they dont like, Godamnit man!”-Grey

That pretty much says it all. I mean shit, youve got your own rap song now! Love you guys, keep it up!!!! You guys make this 162 game quest of chasing yesterdays glory off of waiver wires fun! Have a great rest of the season!!!!

    • Halp

@Favio Vasquez: Thank you, Favio. And some sage advice too. I’m partial to the Josh Norman line, “if you don’t got haters, you ain’t poppin.”
