“When the gods wish to punish us they answer our prayers”

– Oscar Wilde

Ralph Lifshitz and I started last week’s podcast by praying to the baseball gods for Willie Calhoun to be traded to the American League. We got our wish … and he is still blocked. Thanks, Shin-Soo Choo. Shockingly, we did manage to talk about more than Willie during this week’s podcast. We discussed our expectations of recent call-ups Amed Rosario, Ozzie Albies, Lucas Sims, and Jesse Winker, along with trying to predict the next wave of prospects to hit the bigs, including Reynaldo Lopez, Tyler Glasnow, Tyler Mahle, Rhys Hoskins, Franklin Barreto, and Lucas Giolito. Finally, we dove into the minor league promotions of Adrian Morejon, Alex Jackson, and Yusniel Diaz, and of course, we highly advise you to head over to RotoWear.com and enter promo code “SAGNOF” for 15% off the highest quality t-shirts in the fantasy sports game. It’s the latest edition of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Prospect Podcast:

    Great podcast!

    Hoskins or Domenic smith in a keeper?

    Where does Willie for next year? I only get 10 keepers – is he a top 100 guy?

    Thanks

      @Matthew Macdonald: Thanks, Matthew! I have them neck and neck in my rankings so it is basically flip a coin. I lean Hoskins by a hair though because I trust his power more. I think Willie does eventually become a top 100 overall fantasy player and an easy starter in every league, but I don’t think he would be top 100 on a keeper list for me right now. Obviously depends on who your other options are though.

        @Halp: thanks Halp!

    Halp, dynasty league with wins and quality starts. I need to drop 2 of the following: Taillon, Glasnow, Duffy, E. Rod, Velasquez, Urias, Buehler, Godley, T. McKenzie, Faria and L. Weaver.

    Which 2 to drop? Thanks

    • Halp

      @David: Velasquez and Weaver.

    What about kingery? Any chance he gets a shot or is Hernandez playing too well?

      @Mad Beach Bums: Tough to see him getting the call before September without an injury at this point. You never know though

    Trying to pick up Tatis in my 16 team dynasty. Him being a couple years away concerns me as I already have Moniak, Soto, Triston McKenzie, and Soroka. They all seem over a year way too. I’m going to to need SP next year but it just seems logical to move Flaherty for Tatis. Does this seem logical?

      @Sport: I guess I have Leclerc to drop also. I was hoping he would be a saves or holds option going into next year but he would be the best choice to drop wouldn’t he?

    • Halp

      @Sport: Yes, definitely a good move to make. Tatis is an elite prospect right now.

    Our league’s trade deadline is in a week. I turned Devers into a good haul to try and win the league. I’d like another name that might come up and do the same this week…..I grabbed Dom Smith a while back when Devers was promoted. That filled one of my two minor league spots. I have Acuna in my other one. It doesn’t look like Acuna will be promoted this year. Is his talent that great that I shouldn’t be tempted to drop him for Willie or some of the other studs still out there in our league’s FA list?

    Eloy Jimenez, Brendan Rodgers, Alex Reyes, Vlad Jr., Anthony Alford, T.McKenzie, Mejia, and Soto are the top names (from your top 100 midseason list) that are available believe it or not…

    Hold with Smith and Acuna?

    • Halp

      Halp says:

      @dfrench23: Not sure there is another prospect like Devers out there, period. Let alone coming up this week. And none that will come close to having his trade value. Anthony Alford might have the best shot out of that group for the most at bats this season.

    My version of the podcast is skipping at the end, and I can’t catch who you have “Yusniel Diaz as a better version of ____” it skips back to the Morejon part and I’m interested to know your take on that!
