Can the Yankees just quit already? This current embarrassment of riches, with an enviable amount of young MLB talent, a stocked farm system, and a boatload of cash to splash in 2019 free agency, is not okay. How can you just be good at everything? Some guy’s just have all the luck. The Yankees are pretty much the Prom King/Football Star/Valedictorian. You can either choose to hate or appreciate. Lance and I fall in line with the latter, as we gush over Gleyber Torres, Estevan Florial, Miguel Andujar, and a laundry list of talented pitching prospects with mid-90s fastballs. Ralph,
On Friday, I finished drafting and trading for the starting lineup of my “2020 Dream Team”
I traded for the two key players SS Fernando Tatis Jr. and slugger Eloy Jimenez, on separate trades with the same team. Then I drafted the rest of my starting lineup. I have five picks left to plug holes for my 2018 team.
I only lost one prospect that I wanted and it was Sixto Sanchez. Fortunately I have a deep and good rotation.
I still have a few prospects on my radar, that I hope to get later on the year, if they are still there: SS Arias, OF Ortiz, Lutz, C Cabrera and 2B Ruiz.
Lineup
1- Taylor Trammell LF
2- Franchy Cordero CF
3- Fernando Tatis Jr. SS
4- Eloy Jimenez RF
5- Austin Riley 3B
6- Pavin Smith 1B
7- keibert Ruiz C
8- Luis Urias 2B
Rotation
1- Alex Reyes
2- Walker Buehler
3- MacKenzie Gore
4- Kyle Wright
5- Mike Soroka
Also on the mix two players that are no longer prospects, Luis Castillo (25), Julio Urias (21)
@jose: Nicely done!
Hey Ralph, who would you take in 5 x 5 Roto with OBP instead of AVG: Kingery or Torres?
I know Torres has the better pedigree, but Kingery has an appealing power-speed combo. On a side note, it seems crazy to me the Phillies would even consider moving Hernandez for Kingery when he is one of their better players. They would be better off with both in their lineup.
@Randy: Kingery, he’s got more power and speed
Great commentary Ralph!
Drafting in my full keeper n looking for a 2B. Go with Chris Taylor or draft Scott Kingery n hope Philly Philly brings him up.
When does his service clock end? Mid May?
Thanks!
@Chud: We don’t know when the super two date is, that’s dictated by the top 22% of service time accrued at the end of the season. I think it’s a couple of weeks that trips the service date, but I believe that it differs from player to player. Kingery should be quick to the majors though, the Phillies look like they’re trying to compete this year.
@Ralph Lifshitz: thanks!
Looking into this offer for my keeper:
I give Bregman/Didi
I get Lindor/Lamb
Make it happen?
@Chud: I would do it
Yo King
Dynasty league… Guy is asking for my O.Albies for his J.Berrios ?
Who you taking ? Better long term value?
Close enough depending on team needs?
@Espn writer looking for advice: Albies went deep from both sides of the plate yesterday. Don’t trade him for anyone. Dude is going to be a top 5 2nd baseman this year. Berrios isn’t even close to getting it done for me.
@Ralph Lifshitz: @Ralph Lifshitz:
Thanks Ralph. Thats why your the King! Best prospect writer around!
@Espn writer looking for advice: I’m just trying to figure out how to parlay that into dating models.
@Ralph Lifshitz: I “reached” and took Albies 40th overall in a dynasty draft and was roasted for it by other owners.
@Randy: Those people are dumb.
@Ralph Lifshitz: Pretty sure thats all of our goals as well.
@Ralph Lifshitz: Second this. Was sitting behind the plate among a bunch of scouts at a Braves ST game a couple weeks ago and they were all creaming themselves over Albies. While there was no notable reaction to Acuna or any of the other big time prospects playing in that game, the scouts were like little kids talking about Albies, especially his game speed. If Snitker gives him a green light all the SB projections I’ve seen look low.
Hey Ralph, keeper deadline coming up and just traded some of my nonkeepers for a couple of interesting semi-pricey power bats….$18 Rhys and $19 Encarnacion, which confuses my top 7 keeps now. Which of the below are your top 7? (Keep 7 forever $3 annual inflation, 12 team roto):
DEFINITELY KEEPING
$3 Bellinger
$13 JDM
$21 Harper
$26 Blackmon
NEED TO PICK THREE OF THE BELOW
$10 Robbie Ray
$4 Godley
$4 Delino Deshields
$11 Devers
$19 Encarnacion
$18 Rhys
Pitching goes for a lot in this league usually, if helpful. Rhys and E5 would probably go for 20-25. Devers more like 15-18. Godley would go for 15, Ray for 20ish.
@Duda Want to Build a Snowman?:
Devers, Ray, Hoskins for me.
Could see the case for Godley, take out Hoskins.
@Lance: thanks / that’s where I’m at too….between Rhs and Godley. I like Rhys more but Godley will save me $10-$11 in auction money, whereas Rhys is a $21 guy
End of 2019 ranking between Dahl, Nimmo, Pirela? Are all 3 All-Star capable players?
@Alan: dahl the best but playing time is a big question
@AL KOHOLIC:
I’d say no on all three, but agree with Al on Dahl; he’s the closest.
