“Wisdom is knowing when you don’t know. Wisdom is knowing when you do know. Wisdom is not spraying mace on your apple pie when it calls for mace, because that mace they’re talking about is the outside of nutmeg not the shizz that makes your eyes cry during a riot. Wisdom is not saying, “Nutmeg? I barely know her,” every time someone says nutmeg. Wisdom is Patrick Wisdom (3-for-5, 4 RBIs) hitting his 7th and 8th homer, and 4th and 5th homer in the last four games. Looking for a guy who could hit 40 homers (and prolly .210)? That’s true Wisdom…I think, is that what that says?” That’s me reading a fortune cookie’s fortune that is so long that it’s in such a tiny font it’s hard to read. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

Friends and family and enemies who read this for the schadenfreude — we’re 10% into the 2023 MLB season! The Twins and the Rays are the best teams in baseball, and Kyle Freeland is your Cy Young frontrunner. Let’s Freeland GO!

For longtime Razzball readers, you know the motto is still: Don’t Panic. Three games started. 10% of the season. How many of y’all quit one episode into a Netflix series? Maybe that’s why the icon for Squid Game is that robot girl. Or maybe Netflix thinks the prime demographic for the show are fans of cybernetic giantess fantasies. It’s probably both, to be fair. I, for one, would love to see The Terminator throw 120 MPH with his right arm while simultaneously blasting T-1000s with a gun in his left hand. But until we see Ahnold blasting his way to the mound, we’ve got our human pitchers and they’ve got their flaws. 10% of the season is still a drop of non-GMO motor oil in the sea.

Welcome back!  I hope you survived the weekend and if you’re seeing this, it means you’ve won the war against IT and Spambots in order to gain access to Razzball once again.  Who are the people responsible for these bots?  What is there to gain from crashing a fantasy baseball blog?  I have so many […]

Brett Baty was called up, finally!!!*

*It’s only been like two weeks. Aren’t you being a little bit overdramatic with the “finally” and the crazy cartoonish exclamation marks?**

*SHUT UP FOOTNOTE, YOU FREAKIN’ NERD!!!*

*Um, okay, but you’re a footnote too.***

***Sadly, the preceding two footnotes got into a scuffle soon after that exchange, and the cops were called as a postscript.

So, the Mets finally made the move we have all been expecting for the last two weeks, and, honestly, it should’ve been done when they broke camp. The Mets are not a stupid organization. Jinxed? Oh, hecks to the hey! But not dumb. I gave you a Brett Baty fantasy back in November. Nothing’s really changed from that. He’s one of the top callups this year, and should be rostered in all leagues. He could immediately break on the scene and hit 25+ homes and .270. My big question is does Buck bench Eduardo Escobar completely? I don’t think so, but I don’t know. Buck you, Showalter, play Baty! Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:

Psyche! So sorry for this weekend and the problems the site’s had. We’ve hired a company to try to alleviate all the issues. Long story short, we were being attacked by bots and they were crashing us repeatedly. We should be good now. If you have issues logging in, you have to clear your browser cache about a month back, then log back in. I know, major pain in the ass. Sorry! Anyway II, the roundup:

We are roughly two weeks into the season and have plenty of baseball left to play. This is still the point where it can be hard to tell the difference between a true breakout and a guy that simply had a hot start to the season. Do we believe that Nico Hoerner will steal 80+ bases on his current pace? Maybe Ryan Mountcastle is going to out slug Aaron Judge? Since we all love a buy or sell, we are going to dive into a handful of hot starts this week and see if they should be on your roster long-term.

After struggling through the opening week, we bounced back big time! I was really motivated to do well after that crappy opening week, but it just felt like every pitcher struggled in their opening start. The deeper we get into the season, the more we’re going to see these guys regress back to where they […]

The Los Angeles Angels are calling up 2022 first-round pick SS Zach Neto, and baseball feels new all over again. Not just because of Neto, of course, but the whole paradigm of our game is shifting so quickly it’s easy to get excited. We could make a case that the Angels NEED to contend this year more than any other team. If not, Ohtani is as good as gone. He’s probably gone anyway, but that’s no way to go about your life. He picked Los Angeles from the beginning, he’s been incredible there, they’ve gotta be in the running until the final decision is made. For his part, Neto was slashing .444/.559/.819 with three home runs and three stolen bases in seven games. He’s a pick-up in all but the shallowest formats.

Since we last met, the bucolic fantasy baseball landscape has turned into a blistering hellscape of suffering. Team rosters and waiver wires have thinned out considerably as the likes of Tim Anderson, Joey Gallo, Zach Eflin, Kyle Farmer, Yoan Moncada, Orlando Arcia, Michael Harris, Kyle Bradish, Adam Duvall, Aaron Civale, German Marquez, Matt Manning, Brandon […]
