“Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen-year-old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. […]

Come over here. Quietly. In the corner of the room, away from the rest of the party. Ignore JKJ and Coolwhip’s invitation to play Pin the Crown on the Jo Adell. Yes, Keelin just broke the knee of another party-goer so she can breathlessly describe the extent of the injury to a captive and frightened audience, and also finally live out her iTonya fantasy. Don’t mind Bdon, he’s 12 White Claw’s deep and ranting at a potted plant regarding his Bo Bichette vindication tour. Please give no attention to Grey, he is once again Golden Godding on the rooftop, enjoying the pyrrhic victory that is every Oneil Cruz home run. And the rest of the crew? They’re out getting whippets and vapes because they’re one in the same, right?

What is up party people? Sigh, another week, another promising young outfielder hits the IL. Jung Hoo Lee wasn’t lighting the world on fire just yet but there were signs he was about to take flight. Then he dislocated his shoulder in a collision with the wall and his timeline to return is uncertain, with the worst case timeline being the rest of the season. We should have some clarity in the coming days, but I’m fearful it will be a lengthy stay on the IL. So far he has been replaced in center field by Luis Matos who was a top prospect just a short time ago. He has big time potential but struggled in the majors last season which is why he’s been in AAA. Now that injuries to the rest of the Giants hitters have given him a chance to play everyday, it’s up to him to put it all together and show off his talent. His numbers in AAA haven’t been great but he has hit the ground running since his call up and that makes him worth taking a shot on. Now lets look at some other potential replacement options, starting with some guys from last week and then we’ll see who’s hot.

In our 44th episode, Mike Couillard and Jeremy Brewer open with banter on the new Statcast bat tracking metrics (Batcast?) before discussing the latest moves and news including new injuries plus prospect debuts. Then we analyze highly rostered hitters that have been dreadful to start the season. Is it time to move on from them? You can […]

This is from the Wikipedia entry for former Brewers’ manager, Harvey Kuenn: That made me howl. “Otherwise respectable” is so funny there. “Kuenn was fired as manager with an otherwise respectable 87-75 record in 1983. Make sure you put in ‘otherwise respectable.’” That’s the Ghost of Harvey Kuenn dictating to a Wikipedia editor, who he […]

Dodgers SS Austin Gauthier (25, AAA) is off to a hot start at a new level, slashing .360/.467/.600 with one homer and a steal alongside five walks and five strikeouts in seven games. A four-year starter at Hofstra, Gauthier (pronounced Goth-e-er as in vampires are gothier than puppies) has never been a named guy but has found little resistance among minor league pitchers, posting big on base percentages and solid plate skills every step of the way. In the box, he features a high leg kick a La Justin Turner and delivers functional all-fields power. He’s probably available in all your leagues as an unheralded dude from nowhere, but I watch him and feel like it’s going to work against major league arms.
