Nearing the end of the top prospects for 2025 fantasy baseball — see them all under my 2025 fantasy baseball rookies. At least that’s nearing the end for who I will be writing up. Remember, this is also for redraft leagues, so I need to see real playing time opportunity. If a guy doesn’t seem likely to make my top 500, I’m not going over him in a full post. Someone might get through; when we get to Spring, maybe I get another one in if someone is showing out. Jackson Merrill totally snuck through last year, so I’m not infallible. Some prospects who I looked at but didn’t think warranted their own post were Xavier Isaac (too young for 2025), Dalton Rushing (they’re talking outfield, but I don’t see a path to playing time right now), Max Muncy (not that one, though they share strikeouts), Andrew Navigato (whose last name sounds like an Italian app that tells you where the nearest place is that serves affigatos), Luken Baker (I will never trust a Cards rookie again) and starters I mentioned the other day in the Rhett Lowder fantasy. Brady House grabbed my attention to warrant a post because he’s 21 years old until June, already played 54 games in Triple-A, has power and speed, and was rumored as a guy who could “take over 3rd base before the end of last season.” That’s quad cherries for me. Cha-ching! That’s not Chachi’ing as Garry Marshall would say (very new reference). So, what can we expect from Brady House for 2025 fantasy baseball?

Psyche! I’m gonna start sleepers next Monday and start my rankings on Patreon. Also, going to put together a slow draft on Monday for Tuesday or Wednesday start, we’ll figure that out in the comments. Anyway II, Brady House for 2025 fantasy baseball:

Here’s one of Brady House, I will forgive the social person here for missing, “Brady takes one to the House.” You don’t need both.

Hey, I know this pitcher:

Finally a clip that looks different but same outcome:

I looked for clips of Brady House running, but those are always the hardest clips to find. If a guy goes deep, they post that. So, in Triple-A, he went 6/1/.250 with a 28.8 K% and 3 BB% in 236 plate appearances. The walks have never been there, and the Ks look like a symptom of a young player getting his footing against tougher opponents. He looks like a .320 BABIP, .240 hitter, to start his career, at least. The power is clearly boombastic Mr. Fantastic. I do hope he can get into enough fly balls, a new problem for him in Triple-A. In all, the profile reads as 35/12/.240, and you can do worse at 3B. Speaking of which. Dot dot dot.

Jose Tena looked like a find at 3rd base at the end of the season for the Nats, and, honestly, was kinda on my radar for a sleeper. Nats’ lineup does not look as bad as you might think. Though, how long can the Nats hold House in Triple-A? He’s starting to annoy people with his outlandish medical diagnosis. “CJ Abrams has Jimmy Legs, which is why he’s seen here tapping his foot at the roulette wheel?” C’mon, House! Nats’ Spring Training will be revealing. Do they view Tena as a utility player? Do they platoon him with House? Is CJ Abrams still in the dog house for yelling “Full house, snitches!” at the team card game? Where does Jacob Young play? Wood really gonna be a 22-year-old DH? Even Andres Chaparro looked interesting and has no ABs. These things usually work themselves out, but I can’t conceivably give House more than 300 ABs without seeing an injury in Spring or a trade. For 2025 fantasy baseball, I’ll give Brady House projections of 31/15/42/.236/5 in 309 ABs with a chance for more.

Think this roster has enough possible upside to win a 12-team dynasty, or is it too mediocre?

C Wong
1B Steer
2B India
3B Jung
SS Abrams
MI McLain
CI Casas
OF Harris
OF Reynolds
OF Cowser
OF Meadows
DH Acuna
Bench: Gorman, Norby, Carter

SP Strider
SP Pepiot
SP Pivetta
SP Eovaldi
SP Crawford
SP Keller
SP Wacha
SP Matthews
SP Hicks
SP Birdsong

RP Erceg
RP Holmes

I have a ton of money for the auction draft which I’m planning on spending on a high-end pitcher (to fill in for Strider), high-end bat (to fill in for Acuna), and a good closer. I have 3 open roster spots, if I keep everyone above — which I don’t have to, by the way.

My minor leaguers are: 1B De Los Santos, 3B Mayo, 3B House, SS Celesten, OF Chourio, SP Chandler, and SP Misiorowski. I can call these guys up after June 1st to help.

What do you think?

It feels weak with a “if everything clicks down road” studdish lineup. Mayo and House in minors waiting is nice.

Could use power. Pitching is really weak especially for 12 teamer.

You have some nice pieces you could use to upgrade. Not sure of layout of rosters on other teams or how often trades go down.

Trades go down pretty frequently which is good.

Apparently Ty France is one of us when it comes to resume writing.

“Ty France hit free agency at the start of the offseason when the Reds outrighted him off their 40-man roster. Mark Feinsand of MLB.com tweets that the former Mariner is open to catching opportunities as he fields interest from other teams.”

Hmmmm, I am too. Id love to pitch like in high school. Well at least he probably has experience…..

“France has never played catcher in an MLB or minor league game.”

Oh. Well I guess not.

“He’s not wholly unfamiliar with the position though. As a member of the Padres early in his career, France took catching reps at the team’s alternate training site during the 2020 canceled minor league season.”

Have you done it before? No? Oh, youve watched it done a lot though. Me too!

“He was reportedly viewed as a potential emergency catcher in both San Diego and Seattle, though neither team ever got into a situation where they were compelled to use him.

Could be? Potential? Emergency? Hey! Me too! Im the designated survivor! I could be President, potentially, in an emergency! Toughest defensive position to play. How is your defense….

“France’s lack of defensive value is the biggest knock against him. While he has a bit of experience at both second and third base, he doesn’t have the quickness to play either position regularly. France played almost exclusively first base in 2024. He received poor defensive marks there as well. Defensive Runs Saved graded him seven runs below average, while Statcast estimated he was nine runs below par.”

Oh. How about you work on fixing your bat instead?

Happy Holidays Grey. I was wondering how you compare James Woods to the likes of Chourio or Rooker? Do you see him at the same level or close. Maybe a year behind? What would you expect of him this year. Thanks

Non-dynasty Chourio, Rooker, Woods. Dynasty Rooker way back. Also, hope Rooker arm is better. I love Rooker.

Appreciate your input. What do you mean in Rooker way back in dynasty.

I believe Chourio and Wood are now 21/22 and Rooker is 30? Rooker had that elbow injury and didnt play field after it. I am not sure he is a good fielder to begin with, so a primary DH and barely get OF eligibility could be his future. That is pure speculation on my part.

I also believe Rooker will be undervalued a bit and those two wont be.

Great write up as usual.
Haha. Love that last video. Typical minor league camera work showing the home run trot of the guy in front of House. Mystery man shuffling along.

Happy holidays bro. I will not bore you ( yet ) with which keepers I should keep questions today. Black Friday for me is the traditional day that I emerge from my taking a break from fantasy baseball that started in October.

I just wanted to say , as a Patreon member, that Monday will be my official Christmas. Well, maybe Tuesday because, ya know…Catchers are Monday.

As I emerge from my Fantasy Baseball hibernation just wanted to say hello and give you and the rest of the crew at Razzball plenty of thanks in advance for all that this site does to make me look like I know what I am doing each year when playing this game.

Is he as good as Matt Davidson?

The NC Dinos of the Korea Baseball Organization are re-signing infielder Matt Davidson to a $1.5MM deal with a club option for 2026 valued at $1.7MM (h/t Jeeho Yoo of Yonhap News).

Davidson, 34, first signed with the Dinos back in January.

He received semi-regular playing time with the White Sox from 2017 to 2018 and hit a respectable .224/.291/.435 with 46 home runs during that time, though he also struck out at an untenable 35.1% clip. Since the end of the 2018 season, Davidson has appeared in just 33 games at the big league level. Most recently, he hit .167/.167/.292 in an eight-game stint with the Athletics in 2022.

2023 saw Davidson head overseas to try his hand at playing baseball in Asia, though he initially did not head to the KBO. First, he went to Japan to play for Nippon Professional Baseball’s Hiroshima Carp. He hit a middling .224/.288/.452 overall in 117 games for the Carp. While he slugged 21 homers, his high strikeout rates and lackluster on-base percentage led the club to part ways with him. That led him to the Dinos, and his first season in Korea could’ve hardly gone better. While serving as his club’s primary first baseman, Davidson slashed an excellent .306/.370/.633 in 131 games. He slugged a KBO-leading 46 homers, and his 1.003 OPS ranked third in the league.

As far as I know the KBO < NPB < MLB but a mighty impressive year out of nowhere. Kind of sad too as he was "just" a .225ish 25HRish type of CWS which would probably be fine now. Heck Dejong has a job. Then again, he can be king in Korea or a "dude" here.

I remember getting him off WW and being satisfied with him those two years.

I wonder if Davidson drops that in convos at parties. “Yeah, I am a pro ball player. I hit .300 and 46 HR.”

whispers “in Korea” so no one hears.

I would love an article interviewing guys who went and came back to the MLB as better players. Did it just click over there? Did they teach something different? Was it just getting enough reps to work stuff out without fearing option back to minors?

Ben Lively has a career now after coming back from KBO. Thames you mentioned. Heck, didnt Cecil Fielder go overseas?

Oh he did sir. One of those random facts dad would talk about how he was a stud unlike the bums in 2000s. Believe it or not, he finished 2nd TWICE in MVP voting in back to back years after returning from Japan. All I heard as a kid was how good those “old guys” were. Trammell, Whitaker, Fielder, etc.

Aside from that, yeah definitely agree with pitcher part. Not to mention had Lively stayed here they’d probably have tried to make his 91-93 FB a 93-95 FB and still been hittable.

That got better? Ohtani. Ha! Yeah, no, I know Kapler (former Tiger) went but meh. Colby Lewis was one but a pitcher. Mikolas I believe spent a couple years pirching overseas but again, not a hitter.

Like you pointed out more of a pitching thing.

*off top of head so I could be missing obvious*

For some reason I have a Brewers hitter in my head. He could have gone after instead of before, or I might be completely wrong.

Oh man you threw me for a loop. You said Marcus Thames up above and I figured he went to Asia after Tigers/Yanks. Did you mean to say Eric Thames with the Korean joke? It was definitely Eric Thames I was thinking of as a Brewer.

Happy Holidays Grey. Appreciate all you do year round. Love the rookie list so far (and the non-list makes sense too). Does Quinn Matthews fall under the “never trust a STL rookie again” or is he not even on your radar?

And on another note, any hope for Vaughn Grissom? Lost year, odd man out in BOS? Or do you think he gets a(nother) chance in 2025?

I dont get the hype for Grissom. I know a lot love him but his numbers in minors were high BA with like 10/15 upside….in minors. Is that the appeal or am I missing a breakout or something change? Guys in my league demanding king’s ransom on him so I know people like him still, I just never saw what they did or missed it.
