Even though I’m not really a Beatles fan I still like their music. Did I just contradict myself with that statement. Perhaps instead of the word “like” I should have used “appreciate”. I own some of their music, but usually when a Beatles song comes on when I’m shuffling, I skip to the next. Everyday I’m shuffling! And if I said I knew what channel the Beatles channel was on Sirius I’d be lying. All this be true, yet my hat’s off to The Fab Four. Peace and love!

Alex Bregman has not been much of a fantasy contributor this season. I mean he’s contributed, but he is far from a must start. We all want must start players. They make our decisions simpler. On the season Bregman has about 253 points. That makes him number 14 on the list of third basemen. That’s a far cry from “must start”. I have seen him be dropped in several leagues this season, and that move does not surprise. Especially considering I didn’t attempt to pick him in any of said leagues.

It isn’t exactly like he’s hitting the ball out of the park either. In 405 plate appearances he has just 13 home runs. Paul Goldschmidt hit three on Thursday. Ok, fine. I know I am comparing apples to oranges, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t impress my point. By the way, if Paul Goldschmidt is the apples in that saying then he is a gloriously delicious golden apple!

There are currently 27 third base eligible players with more home runs that Bregman. While he is on pace to fall just short of a 20/20 season, 20/20 clearly no longer carries the same weight it did twenty years ago. He does have eligibility at shortstop in some leagues, so he’s got that going for him. Put it this way, I think I’d rather have Chris Taylor than Alex Bregman.

So far in the first week of the Hey Batter contest, Bregman is leading the way in points with 34 points. Unsurprisingly, not one person picked him. I thought you were supposed to be the best of the best?! Just kidding. Picking Bregman would have been idiotic regardless of how many points he now has. Let’s leave it at this as far as Bregman is concerned. If you are still running Todd Frazier or Maikel Franco out there instead of Bregman, you are very likely not doing so well in your league.

As for the contest at hand, here’s a quick update. As of Saturday morning, here is the current scoreboard. Saturday’s points are not included below.

If you’re name’s not in the above scoreboard, that means you’re not in the playoffs. Just a reminder for those that are, make sure you don’t pick a player you picked in week one of the playoffs. And unless you’re name is LenFuego, don’t pick an Unpickable. And if you’re name is LenFuego, don’t pick more than one Unpickable each week.

The plan is for these posts to go live on Sundays.

The Unpickables – Do not pick these players unless you are LenFuego!!!

Mike Trout
Mookie Betts
Jose Altuve
Nolan Arenado
Paul Goldschmidt
Anthony Rizzo
Bryce Harper
Charlie Blackmon
Kris Bryant
Josh Donaldson
Manny Machado
Joey Votto
Miguel Cabrera

The contest closes on Monday at 1pm EST!!!

If you are not in the playoffs please refrain from picking players in the comments section. This will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

And finally, a serious message from Ringo Starr to all of your fans.
