Can I have all Razzball readers knock on wood prior to reading this article? Thank you! I don’t want to jinx Kenta Maeda who is putting together a great and under the radar season. Maeda struggled earlier this year with control and an injury. For a while the Dodgers were unsure what they were going to do with him, they had him work out of the pen for a few weeks. Naturally, Maeda came back to life and started dealing. FantasyDraft has some crazy high prices for the elite pitchers today and this pick at $16,000 seems like a no brainer. Maeda’s ERA at home is under 3 and his k/9 is 8.64. He also gets a favorable matchup against the depleted Padres. Unfortunately I think everyone will be on this pick today just because there is not much downside to his matchup today.

Dallas Keuchel, SP: $18,900 – I’m going to go ahead and pretend last week didn’t happen. Keuchel has been a beast up until recently. There is concern that Keuchel is hiding an injury but I think it was a case of bad luck. This isn’t particularly a great matchup for Keuchel but I also think the other options around this price range are not safe picks either.
Michael Wacha, SP: $18,000 – In most of my lineups today I will likely have Wacha and Maeda which will allow me to spend some money on bats. Wacha boasts an 8.87 k/9 and an above average groundball percentage. He’s also pitched extremely well at home and has been lights out since the all-star break
Mike Moustakas, IF: $9,000– I think his price is a bit high, but I also think he will do some damage today. Derek Holland has been terrible this season while averaging 1.98 home runs per game. I will likely have a Royals stack going today.
Justin Smoak, IF: $7,800 – Smoak? Don’t mind if I do. The Blue Jays lineup has been explosive recently and I wouldn’t be opposed to stacking some of the players in this lineup. I think Smoak has gone 10 games without a homer and that’s why the price has dropped. Streamonator seems to think Kuhl is going to be one of the worst pitchers on the day, so it might be wise to attack with some ministacks
Jose Abreu, IF: $6,800 – What a steal! You’re practically paying pennies for a guy who mashes lefties. Not much else here to say other than this is a Sunday morning bargain.
Miguel Sano, IF/OF: $9,000 – I like this matchup for Sano and Dozier today, Sano just happens to be the cheaper of the two. Both guys hit lefties well and Boyd’s ERA for the last 30 days is north of 5.
Andrew McCutchen, OF: $8,000 – For a 3rd straight Sunday I recommend starting McCutchen. I’m not quite sure why his price dropped $2,000 in 7 days but I will be taking advantage of the price drop. Cutch is going up against a weak lefty who he already has 4 home runs against. You’ll just need to confirm whether Cutch will be starting today as he sat out with an injury yesterday.
Mike Trout, IF: $11,100 – Yikes! That price tag is super expensive for a guy not playing at Coors today. If by some reason, you have left over money and can afford him, I think Trout could easily go off today. He notoriously hits lefties well and Miranda average 1.98 home runs given up per 9 innings.
Michael Conforto, OF: $9,300 – DFSBot thinks Conforto will go yard today against Eflin. I’m not picking a fight with a robot so I will just listen and play Conforto who has 11 home runs since July.
Odubel Herrera, OF: $8,400 – Herrera has been one of the hottest hitters since all-star break and he gets a favorable matchup against Flexen today. Flexen is one of the poor rookies the Mets called up to take a beating. He’s given up 4 homers in 11 innings since he’s been up.
