Here it is the inaugural Razzball Fantasy Prospect Podcast, it only needed to be recorded 6 times to get it right. It stars yours truly the Prospector and Chief with the incomparable Michael Halpern of Imaginarybrickwall.com. If you’re not familiar with Michael he’s a legend in some circles. Squares, triangles, and octagons too! We rank our top 20 prospects moved on Sunday and Monday, and then discuss the recent callups of A.J. Reed, Orlando Arcia, Joe Musgrove, Gary Sanchez, and Mi Novio Andrew Benintendi. You know I’m obligated to type his name every time my fingers touch the keys, right? Either way check it out! We do this all with a dynasty slant. Here’s the debut of the Razzball Prospect Podcast!
(And don’t forget to join Jay, Tehol, Jenn, Kevin, and Zach on this season’s first episode of the Fantasy Football Podcast!)

Faced with a tough one I need to drop Solarte or Shoot to make room for a catcher and my Name spot is free I have M.Saundres who hit last night but hasn’t been good or I know this crazy but ABeltre I know he is aging but he has shown it all year. My gut says Saunders or Solarte but shop has sucker to… or my worst player B.Harper…. does the B stand for BITCHHH… is he folding under pressure or just can’t concentrate to busy being a rock star. I don’t get it…. B. BONDS say what you want but he was locked in and made you pay. PEDs or not when you did throw him a strikE…just play ball and If they don’t like you eff’em. I think Harper actually catrees to much about what people think and he is far from the legend all of his profitiers sold him as
@Dnut Eastwood: Who’s Shop? I’d say go Solarte. I actually offered Harper for DeGrom and Naquin and got turned down. What has Bryce become? Lol
@Ralph Lifshitz: or screw it try AJ Reed again… I’ve had Both of the Houston Hype on my roster maybe 3rd times a charm so large for. Reed
@Dnut Eastwood: I can’t effing Type Ralph my post are like the Da Vinci code and you guys are tom hanks
@Dnut Eastwood: I have been known to crack a marble floor to uncover fantasy secrets.
Does that make Grey Illuminati
@Dnut Eastwood: Yeah give Reed a shot.
@Ralph Lifshitz: I’ve been known to Crack marble floors to like the time I stumbled drunkenly into the Punch bowl at Grey’s wedding knocking it to the marble floor. I don’t know if it was the alcohol or what Tehol slipped in my drank
@Dnut Eastwood: Wait you were at Grey’s wedding?
@Ralph Lifshitz: Don’t tell him I wasn’t invited
@Dnut Eastwood: CRASHER!!!!
Nice! Big fan of any podcast from the fine folks of razzball.
Quick question, I’ve got a lead in ERA and WHIP and I want to “keep up with the Jones'”. My opponent is starting Carlos Martinez. I picked up Jose berrios, whose facing Tampa. Would you fee comfortable starting berrios? I’m also chasing K’s too.
@Mike: Yea I’d definitely go after a righty against the Rays. Tampa is a bottom 5 scoring offense against RHP.
Ralph and Halp,
Congrats! Glad to see this podcast is now official.
August 6th 2016, a historic day in dynasty baseball history….. *begins humming chorus to Gimme Some Lovin’ by the spencer Davis Group
@indefiniteinfinite: Woooooooooo!!!!
@indefiniteinfinite: haha, thanks!
Guy that’s produces the most in Sept. For fantasy GM/OWNER
MONCHADO
Pollock
ANDREW B.
6X6 OPS
I HAVE a stacked underachieving outfield and could use average and a little power on the infield
@Dnut Eastwood: Pollock if he’s back. Is that Machado or Moncada? If it’s Machado, I’ll take him over Pollock, if it’s Moncada go Pollock. If Pollock isn’t back I’ll take Benintendi. Once again assuming that’s Moncada.
@Ralph Lifshitz: in September* obviously Pollock isn’t back yet…
@Ralph Lifshitz: yes yeah ya know ty for dicpher capabilities Ralph. One of these days Alice boom right in the kisser… did Ralph Cranston really threaten to assault his tv wife every episode or am I imagining this. Maybe i could use a Ayahuasca clensing, let’s say we go down to Peru Ralph for a week to get our heads straight for the final push for another fantasy baseball championship
@Dnut Eastwood: I won’t come back
Bregman and Reed have looked totally over matched at the Big League level. Haven’t heard how Gurriel is faring in his minor league stint yet but as an Astoros fan, not holding out much hope for him to be the answer either. Louis Valbuena and Marwyn Gonzalez have more job security than ever.
First Buxton flops, now Bregman. Being rated the top overall prospect in the Minors is becoming the Kiss of Death.
@Uno Mas Cerveza: Slow down on Bregman. This is the first struggle he’s had in his pro career. I think he’s much safer than Buxton. We have actual minor league production to point to with Bregman, Buxton was mostly projection.
Gurriel is 31 and a seasoned professional. I think he’s different than Reed and Bregman. He’s played minimal games at rookie level GCL and hi-A Lancaster. My guess is Bregman is sent back down and Gurriel is up next weekend.
My advice is be patient as hard a s it can be.
@Ralph Lifshitz: I have heard Guriel described as the most complete hitter from Cuba since Abreu so we will see. On second thought, I own Abreu on 2 teams and he is killing me. Oh well.
I hear you on Bregman. I think he is going to struggle between the ears when he gets sent down hitting under .100. My gut tells me the Astros will be very open to offers for him going forward into this offseason.
@Uno Mas Cerveza: Wow, you’re burying this guy after less than 100 at bats. Look at Pedroia’s first month or Trout’s first callup. He’s not the first highly touted rookie to struggle. The Astros also drafted Appel over Bryant so I guess they could make another bad choice and sell Bregman.
@Ralph Lifshitz: wasn’t a-roid terrible till like his 4th or 5th call up? kershaw was awful at 1st too.
@goodfold2: yup
Hey Ralph, Danny duffy’s been great… But do we start him against the Jays today?
Thanks in advance!
@Big w: Not if you’re worried about ratios. In a H2H I would though.
Can’t wait to listen! What’s your release schedule looking like?
Also, 16-tm dynasty with OBP. My only SS is Ian Desmond and the only guy on my farm with that eligibility is Mateo. Suffice to say, pretty soon in not going to have a SS.
Worth trading R.Quinn and D.Tate for W.Adames?
@The JoGarza: It’s going to be up Thursday mornings on iTunes and Blogtalkradio.com. It will post here on Thursdays after Grey’s post.
Hmmmm I’m on the dense about that one. I like Adames more but not sure I’d trade both for him. If it’s a keeper situation and you can only keep one of the two and you’re consolidating to a better player, I’m with it.
@Ralph Lifshitz:
Tate and Quinn are both part of my farm right now. I think I’m OK giving up Tate because Allard is in the pool (I assume he’s the better prospect). But I guess I’ve also read concerns about Adames staying at short, so maybe I’ll find myself at square one pretty soon.
Anyways, I’m trying to find the podcast on iTunes but only the two episodes of Fantasy Gold Rush pop up. Any suggestions?
@The JoGarza: Hasn’t been added to iTunes as of yet, takes 24-48 hours. So listen on here or on blogtalkradio.
@Ralph Lifshitz: Ah, gotcha. Thanks!
Great stuff, Halp and Ralph! Or is it Ralph and Halp? Let the arguments begin!
@Grey: Franks and beans!
@Grey: ha! I actually cracked that joke the very first time I talked to Ralph. Decided to keep our names out of the title …
Haha, great minds and all
Buxton + Conforto for Bregman in a dynasty league. Which side would you take?
Thanks!
@sandwichyes: Bregman side. I’m way off on Buxton.
@Ralph Lifshitz: Yes you were…Beni is next…
@Wake Up: Who are your guys?
@Ralph Lifshitz: It’s no secret I told you that Buxton didn’t belong number one preseason…I’m telling you now that I don’t like Beni…we shall see…by he’s your Giancarlo, do you mean that you will be too high on him and he will disappoint you year after year? (winky face)
@Wake Up: Won’t be in my jurisdiction next season. What don’t you like about Beni? I do admit I’m high on him. Doesn’t seem as risky as Buxton.
@Wake Up: how would that be a “secret”.
Can’t get the iTunes link to work so can’t subscribe yet.
@Connor: Give it 24-48 and it will be added.
@Ralph Lifshitz: Ok, will do. Wasn’t trying to be impatient but wanted to let you know in case something needed fixing.
Congrats on the Podcast!
@Wake Up: Thanks, Wake Up!
@Wake Up: Thanks
M.Saunders has been horrendous this past month. Maybe Melvin trade got in his head… any faith he can get it going again… he bought some time with a few hits yesterday
@Dnut Eastwood: Who knows, he was out kicking his coverage all season, maybe that’s coming back.
Hey Ralph,
Who you like better ROS. Judge or Gallo? I just don’t see Gallo getting a chance with that crowded Rangers outfield
@JJ: Judge! I bet he’s up within the week.
what up riggity?! for next year, who do you like — renfroe or gurriel?
@SheriffMcRawDawg: Gurriel, Remfroe need to walk more.
do you think reyes comes up only as a RP at this point
@Montezuma’s Revenge… right now: Yeah looks that way. If he gets a start it will only be a couple at most
I haven’t listened yet but that’s only because I’m setting aside some me time tomorrow. Probably light a candle, kick back in the bean bag chair, and put on my big fancy over sized head phones. Oh and bregs had a good day today…fux those haters
@J-FOH: Yeah Bregman or bust!
Enjoy, you get a name drop.
I listened and I liked it. I was hoping my name drop was because of my evolving prospect skills but I can see why Ralph wants to keep one of stat scouts in his back pocket. Going forward will we be getting some rookie ball action. Im starting to love that shizz, its like when you are in high school and a new crop of poon shows up every year
@The Hack Formerly Known as Hate: High school girls I get older and they stay the same age….
@The Hack Formerly Known as Hate: Thanks, J-Foh. When I wrote about Edwin Rios a few weeks ago, Ralph told me you were were high on him for a little while. So your prospect skill rep is secure, ha
@Halp: The boy is quite astute I did want to keep him a secret
Lifts finger to mouth…
@Ralph Lifshitz: Im a big mammal, there is more than enough of me to go around
@The Hack Formerly Known as Hate: Jack Full of Mammal
@Halp: The Doyers low minors have lots of interesting bats (Cody Thomas, DJ Peters, Edwin Rios and Mitchell Hanson). I own at least one share of each. I believe it was Wilson Karaman from our rejects league that was tweeting out about Rios first.
@The Hack Formerly Known as Hate: They do seem to be killing it when it comes to finding those under the radar gems recently, Not a bad team to tie your fantasy fate with prospect wise.
@Halp: Peters went to the same high school I did and was a Perfect Game player. He just ended up at some obscure JC that is now losing its program. He was set to go to Fullerton but decided to go with the Dodgers. Thomas is the one I turned Ralph on to. College quarterback who decided baseball was his future and so far the early returns are good.
@The Hack Formerly Known as Hate: Gotta say I particularly like Peters now after looking into him more. Thomas looks good too. You clearly have a good eye …
@Halp: I just read and looked at numbers, you send me a youtube video to scout and I click out of it to go watch something that makes me dumber.
Some clubs just do smart things. I think their undrafted signee was like the top NAIA player, which BTW is where Stephen Vogt came from
@The Hack Formerly Known as Hate: Following smart organizations is a good strategy to begin with. I definitely believe in factoring in the org that has to develop these guys too.
