The Fantasy Baseball War Room is back!  I’m not saying the Fantasy Baseball War Room is back, as in, is a butt.  So, if Sir Mix-A-Lot is reading, I’m truly sorry for the confusion.  Our Fantasy Baseball War Room is one part draft tool, one part fantasy team evaluator, one part fantasy junkie’s s’s and g’s tool, one part holy, two parts smokes, three parts… How many parts is that so far?  Cause it’s only really seven parts total.  I think there’s one part kill-your-day-with-this-war-room-thing-a-maboob-as-a-pinwheel-spins in there too.  Essentially, this helps you practice building a fantasy baseball team. Rudy also has a War Room that comes with Razzball subscriptions. His War Room is better and offsite, i.e., he’ll give you a link to download everything. I repeat, his War Room is better, but is not free. Ask anyone in the comments if Rudy’s War Room is better, they will say 100% it is better. This one is free, and janky at times. You’ve been warned, so you cannot complain.

If you’re unfamiliar with our Fantasy Baseball War Room, it’s a draft tool to help you track where you are at any moment in a draft. It shows you if you have too many steals, homers… Or if your ERA or WHIP are too low. Or too high. Or if your lamb is still rare or should be turned (results vary on lamb). If you’ve already drafted a team, go into the War Room, enter your team and it shows you exactly how stacked/dreadful the team is. If you want to practice mocking for your Razzball Commenter League, do that too.  (Fantrax waived $80 fees for us, so go join some Razzball Commenter Leagues!)  If you’re in the middle of a draft, you can filter which guys are left that have the most home runs according to my projections. Or the most steals, or the most runs or the most whatever (only applicable if “Whatever” is a category in your league). If you’re in a bind, go into a Warm Room and take a shvitz.  Ah…That’s better! There might be some bugs in our Fantasy Baseball War Room, just comment here and we’ll look into fixes. The default projections are mine from the 2020 fantasy baseball rankings. Also, Rudy’s projections are now up! They can be found at my ranking page that I just linked to or here:  hitter projections and pitcher projections. There, you’ll see rankings for every conceivable league (OBP, OPS, Holds, etc).  Anyway, here’s the step by step instructions on how to use the Fantasy Baseball War Room:

  • Sign up. If you get a message that says your email is already in the system and you don’t remember the password, just use a new email or a made-up email. It doesn’t really matter. It says to email us to retrieve your password, but I have to be honest, I’m not retrieving shizz. Repeat, just make a New User and make up a fake email. We’re not emailing you anyway.
  • Choose what kind of team you want to draft. How many catchers, outfielders, middle infielders, etc. ESPN and Yahoo are for position eligibility. It doesn’t mean you’re playing there. ESPN is 20 games started; Yahoo is 5 started and 10 games played. So that means ESPN and CBS are the same. Or wherever you play that uses 20 or 10 game eligibility.
  • Now as you draft players, click Draft next to their name. If a player is eligible at more than one position, drop down the menu to the position you want them at. If you can’t find a player, search for them at the top. As Jeff Francoeur would say, voila! Or if you’re a Twins fan, Frank Voila!
  • Get as close to the Totals as you can.
  • Wanna start again? Delete the Team, by scrolling to the right of the player search at the top and a down arrow will appear. Click that, then click the pinwheel under ‘Taken” and delete team or sign out. We got pinwheels! Wanna throw your computer out the window from excitement?  Go for it!  For those that missed it in the first bullet point, if you forget your password, Create New User and make up a fake email. Do not email me.
  • If you get this error page, then your shizz is broke and you need to buy a new computer. But, if you don’t want to buy a new computer, you should clear your cookies and start again. Likely what happened is you’re logged into the app still from an old version. Less likely, you still have the same internet cache from last year and haven’t cleared your cookies once in 12 months. I’m not judging, Cust kayin’.

Ok so go get the masters or start posting questions on Mr Excel For help. That file is worth it’s weight in gold.

No joke – 3 of us use it in our 12 man league. We’ve been able to hide it from everyone else for years. We have trained ourselves to call Razzball “CBS” around other league members.

Between the draft file and season long tools – it’s well worth it.

I am leaning leaving Ohtani, Cast, Chapman of this group

      • Jolt In Flow says:
        (link)

Stay away from B, Night. (too bad there wasn’t an M option).

Slappy, remember, he only gets to keep 7. So if he’s got a spot open for the loss of Soto, he only gets to plug in 1 of those 4 guys. So essentially, he’s swapping Soto for Scherzer. That B trade is simply a player dump from an owner who wants to replace a bunch of above average guys for an elite (Scherzer’s elite, but he’s getting into his twilight baseball years; Soto would be a keeper for 10+ years).

Night, you’ll be able to pick up those other 3 in the draft. The owner would only be keeping Scherzer out of that crew.

But I agree with Slappy on A & C. Those are decent. All a matter of taste on what stats you want.

    Cole 6
    Clevinger 7
    GSanchez 10
    J. Abreu 11

Question is, should I try and trade Scherzer for another bat and clear out the round 2 draft pick, or should I sell super high on Cole in the 6th. What would be an acceptible level bat for Scherzer and Cole if I did trade them?

Your team looks good so don’t force anything, can always trade after the draft.

      • TC says:

Yeah, but you all live in Cali where you’re like “Let’s go hit the bars! It’s $15 beer night!” I’m in upstate NY and at one point people thought my apartment was made out of sticks and mud. FIOS isn’t even available where I live. On the plus side, there is a healthy amount of drunks and I’ve collected JUST enough empty Genesee cans to get a membership again… soon…

Serious note, I’ve always looked at this war room and have been stupid intimidated by it. But I also play H2H and not roto. Is there a strategy trying to apply this? Are the target numbers roughly the same? Also how keeper league friendly is it?

  12. Duda Want to Build a Snowman? says:
    (link)

Hey Grey + Razz commenters – would love your help deciding between which variation of a trade to take (the trade partner has already sent me all versions to pick from). Keep 7 guys forever, 12 team roto.

    OPTION 1. I get Bieber ($16).
He would pair with my $34 Scherzer keeper for an absurdly juicy, very non-razzballian 1-2 combo, so I’d definitely spend the minimum $1 on my other SPs. My other 5 keepers are Acuna, Yelich, Story, Eloy, Matt Chapman. I’ve had good luck finding the breakout SPs on FAAB in this league, so there’s definitely something attractive to having such an insane 1-2.

OPTION 2. I get Bieber ($16) + Franmil ($13) if I add my $34 Scherzer to the trade.
Love Franmil’s upside as a long term keeper…if anyone has a shot at putting up a Pete Alonso line (.260 50 dongs) outside of the top 25 bats, its gotta be him right?

OPTION 3. Same cost to me as #2, but I can swap Franmil for a Lamet ($6).
So, my top 2 arms would be Bieber/Lamet. I know we like Lamet over Franmil slightly for this year, but both earned Sleeper posts + generally seems safer to keep bats to arms. Lamet also has a good chance of not being kept by this owner, because he’s rich in pitching.

OPTION 4. Same as 2/3, but Dahl($7) instead of Franmil ($13) or Lamet ($6).
Love the upside, but did he just injure his oblique turning his alarm off this morning?

Currently slightly leaning to the Franmil option for the massive upside if The Stadium breaks out now that he has regular full time ABs, but definitely interested in the other versions too..

    Thanks everyone!

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

      I’d go with option 1

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

I’m confused, you get Bieber for what?

      • Duda Want to Build a Snowman? says:
        (link)

In all of these options, I get Bieber for Villar (8) and a guy I’m not keeping. The Bieber owner offered to leave it at that…or offered me a few options if I wanted to throw him $34 Scherzer too.

I get Bieber in every scenario, but I have an option to swap my $34 Scherzer for $13 Franmil, $6 Lamet, or $7 Dahl.

So, I guess the better question is, in a relatively shallow league like this 12 teamed, is a $34 Scherzer worth giving up for Franmil, Lamet or Dahl?

        • Grey

          Grey says:
          (link)

Wait, how did others know Villar? I might need to have more coffee

No a $34 Scherzer is not worth those guys

          • Duda Want to Build a Snowman? says:
            (link)

Haha yeah I said that in a super confusing way. I didn’t mention Villar at all because that part of the trade was a done deal (not something I had any hesitation on). Would have been simpler if I just asked the Max part!

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help!!

    Grey,

This is awesome, and really appreciate all your hard work on the rankings!

Have a dynasty league related trade conundrum to run by you. Think I can compete this year but really set myself up with a lot of early picks next year. That is, until the Trout owner approached me about trading Trout for a haul of my draft picks.

For reference, we are in a 10-team, keep-by-round league where essentially the top 50 players are kept, give or take a couple of teams that have more than 5 legitimate keepers. So a first round pick is basically getting a player in the ~50 range. That being said, this owner wants basically all my early picks that I’ve accumulated (1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5) in 2021 for Trout.

    Too much?

    • Donkey Teeth

Trout for 9 picks? Who are the 9 picks being used for? Hard for me to tell what the trade is

      • NJW says:
        (link)

The 9 picks would be for the remaining non-keepers. If you’re lucky there is a guy like Rendon there but it’s usually more of the Jose Abreu, Anthony Rizzo, Eddie Rosario tier in the first round with maybe some of the older SPs like Verlander that aren’t kept.

So I’d either have a lot of players from that tier or 1 Trout, in essence.

        • Grey

          Grey says:
          (link)

Those aren’t bad guys you just listed — So, you’re saying Trout for Abreu, Rizzo, Rosario and Verlander?

          • NJW says:
            (link)

Pretty much, plus a couple like Muncy, Mercado and pitchers like Berrios, Bauer with the picks in the 3, 4, 5 range. Sorry for the long-winded explanation.

Everyone wants Trout but wondering if that seems cost prohibitive.

I really tried to curb enthusiasm for him here on Razzball. I feel that has been an important community contribution for me here in 2020, especially since DT has been stuffing his crack pipe full of Shohei and puffing hard.

It’s almost like once someone drafts a player they’re too blinded to see inherent complications with said player

                (link)

Apparently. I don’t have that problem. For example, I drafted Domingo Santana in November but wouldn’t now. Same goes for Eric Lauer.

Buyer’s remorse followed by denial. Its a stage of grief following bad draft decisions that later come to light. The quicker a manager can come to terms, the better.

I don’t understand the compression of your projected auction values. In what league is the highest player drafted at $39? By having the highest valued players with such low and unrealistic auction values, it compresses all the prices so close to each other. What is the reason for doing that?

Hey Grey. I never considered keeping Adell over Paddack as my last keeper until recently. I held Adell last year hoping to use him as trade bait but nothing wound up happening. Just wanted your thoughts? Paddack or Adell would be my last keeper at round 10, losing a round each year until they become a 2nd rounder. My other keepers are Lindor, Arenado, Trea, and Snell. Thanks as always

Looking for some keeper help in my home league. ESPN, 12 team, 5X5, starting lineup = C, 1b,2b,3b,SS,OF (5), Utility (1), SP (5), RP (4), 6 man keep forever. Our league has been around for 10 years and thanks advice and reading Razzball I have been successful and built a great foundation. My fantasy baseball issues are actually great issues to have …
    Here’s the skinny:
Keep for Sure: Acuna, Bellinger, Betts, Tatis
Others to consider (need 2 of the following): Flaherty, Scherzer, Castillo, Paddack, Hader, Mondesi, Meadows, Huira, Robert
As you can see my roster is littered with Grey guys!!
My brain is saying Flaherty and Mondesi, however would it be crazy to consider Robert? I have had success getting guys a year ahead, protected Acuna and Kris Bryant the years they were sent down. Is Robert potentially that guy this year? Probably just overthinking.
    Thanks for your time!

My keepers Currently consist of the below. There are 3 Util in my league along with MI and Ci and 4 OF spots so anyone can kind of slot in to any place.

    Tatis – $3
    Eloy – $3
    Medows $3
    Robles $3
    Soto $10
    Story $28

I need one keeper of the following below . I was originally leaning villar but then thought Edman and Santana can do similar with less of a price tag

    Villar $12
    Edman $5
    JD Davis $5
    Danny Santana $5

Anderson was the cheapest at $6, goes all the way up to Hendriks at $50. The ones that I was interested in:
            Diaz $24
            Osuna $35
            C. Martinez $23
            Taylor Rogers $6

so BOS always could’ve gotten c.wong + j.downs in stead of graterol? why in the hell didn’t they just do this one earlier in the first place?! WAY better for them. verdugo was in both, so nothing changed on that end. this is the kind of deal a small market team should do though, as BOS is like one of only around 5-6 teams that can even afford mookie next year anyway.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

My guess is they couldn’t have done it — why do you say they always could’ve?

      • Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey says:
        (link)

since LAD were willing to move downs + c.wong + verdugo they were just playing hardball the first time. if BOS had said “we want more than verdugo and graterol” this seemingly would’ve happened the first time. unless magically LAD were just willing to give up more now than a week ago or just under a week.

I don’t get the whole “he can only be a reliever” thing as a strike against him either…Has anyone seen the league in the last ten years? A high-leverage reliever is very valuable.

                  (link)

still worth less than a good starter. i’d love to see hader’s WAR as a starter vs so far right now. plus it’s not like he’s been allowed to TRY being a starter yet either (of course we know from all sorts of other stuff how stupid in general MIL is). i mean c.archer has 2 pitches and he’s never NOT been a starter. a.bradley is another one that wasn’t allowed that much time to start. e.diaz NEVER got any attempts. r.iglesias got some attempts but they left him in RP from similar issues to what carmart has had last 2 years.

oh yeah by the end of it graterol could easily be worth more than maeda ends up for sure, no small part of that since he came over far older than graterol will be when he’s used.

    hey grey!

here are the keepers i’m eyeing in 10 team nl-only roto league i’m joining. draft budget = $280

    C. Kelly 1
    O. Albies 10
    J. McNeil 13
    J. Baez 23
    T. Edman 2
    N. Hoerner 1
    B. Harper 41
    A. Haseley 1
    Z. Gallen 11
    J. Musgrove 6
    J. Urias 6
    S. Lugo 3
    Z. Eflin 1

i welcome any thoughts on these keepers but my question is – should I keep Bryce Harper at this inflated price or let him go and see if i can do better value-wise? idk yet who’s getting kept but some guys who will definitely be available: Betts, Yelich, Treat Turner, K. Marte, Blackmon.

i haven’t done a keeper league in mad long and never done an auction one so i don’t have a good idea on what the market impact will be for shortage of available players. the likely available 1b pool is extremely bleak!
