Week 1 was amazing, but Week 2 was filled with mixed results. Half of our pitchers performed, but we were delighted with the hitting streamers. I usually tend to do better with the pitchers, but there’s a ton of value on waiver wires right now since there’s so much we don’t know yet. That’s the case again this week, so let’s dive into this week’s streamers!

Favorable Team Matchups

7 Games

Boston Red Sox (vs. CLE, at PIT)

Cleveland Guardians (at BOS, vs. OAK)

Tampa Bay Rays (vs. LAA, at NYY)

Texas Rangers (at DET, at ATL)

6 Games

Colorado Rockies (at PHI, vs. SEA)

Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. WAS, vs. NYM)

Philadelphia Phillies (vs. COL, vs. CWS)

St. Louis Cardinals (at OAK, vs. MIL)

Seattle Mariners (vs. CIN, at COL)

Pitching Streamers

Ranger Suarez, PHI (vs. COL)

Suarez has been one of our streamers numerous times throughout the last few years, and we’re going right back to the well. The lefty kickstarted his 2024 campaign with a 2.65 ERA, 0.71 WHIP, and 10.1 K/9 rate through his first three starts. That’s the stud we saw three years ago, with Suarez sporting a 1.36 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. We know this guy has the ability to be consistent, and that should be much easier against the Rockies. Colorado is last in runs scored and OPS on the road in each of the last three years!

Streamonator Valuation: $35.7

Lance Lynn, STL (at OAK)

Lynn has struggled to keep balls in the yard over the last two years, but that shouldn’t be an issue in Oakland. Not only is Oakland Coliseum one of the most spacious ballparks in baseball, but the A’s were 29th or 30th in runs scored, OBP, OPS, and xwOBA last season. They’re in the running for all of those statistics yet again this season, and that’s the perfect recipe for Lynn to have a superb outing. He has a 2.63 ERA through three starts this year and had a quality start in seven of his final 11 starts last year. This guy also had a 3.42 ERA and 1.14 WHIP between 2019 and 2022, which is the pitcher we expect to see this season.

Streamonator Valuation: $18.7

Logan Allen, CLE (vs. OAK)

Allen just got annihilated in his most recent outing, but we’re willing to overlook that. This lefty had a 2.31 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in two starts before that stinker and should thrive in a place like Cleveland. What makes him enticing is this home matchup with Oakland because the A’s rank 28th in runs scored, 29th in OBP, and last in K rate. They were the worst offense in baseball last year and are probably even worse this year. All of that will have Allen entering this matchup as a -200 favorite, and we saw him pick up a win when he faced the A’s just two weeks ago!

Streamonator Valuation: $26

Luis Severino, NYM (vs. PIT)

I saw Severino dropped in numerous leagues last week, and I don’t understand why. He was horrific in limited time last season, posting a 6.65 ERA and 1.65 WHIP. That’s an outlier when looking at his career, though, with Severino totaling a 3.10 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in the five years prior. We saw him post similar numbers during spring training, and many people believe he’s due for a bounceback season at Citi Field. That’s what we’ve seen so far, with Severino posting a 3.00 ERA and 10.2 K/9 rate through three starts. Some might be scared of facing this scorching Pittsburgh team, but the talent in that lineup doesn’t worry me one bit. That’s why they’re only projected to score four runs in one of the most pitcher-friendly environments in baseball.

Streamonator Valuation: $34.3

Javier Assad, CHC (vs. MIA)

This is one of the few streamers where I disagree with the Streamonator because Assad has been great to me since the end of last season. The Cubs righty had a 3.05 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in a sparking 2023 campaign, backing it up with a 1.64 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through two starts this year. That makes it hard to believe he’s still so widely available, especially in a home matchup like this. Miami ranks last in OBP, SLG, wOBA, and OPS, with Assad likely entering this home matchup as a massive favorite once again.

Streamonator Valuation: $-6.2

Hitting Streamers

Jared Walsh, TEX (at DET, at ATL)

Walsh fell out of fantasy relevancy when he struggled with injuries over the last two years, but this was a must-roster player before that. In fact, Walsh had a .280 AVG, .531 SLG, and .869 OPS in the two years prior. It’s funny how health can revive a hitter’s career, especially since he gets to bat sixth in one of the best lineups in baseball. That should give this guy many RBI opportunities as we advance, with Walsh posting a .273 AVG and .360 OBP through the opening two weeks of the year. The most important factor is his sensational splits, posting an OBP above .400 and an OPS north of 1.000 against righties in that two-year span. That’s awesome since he faces five righties in this seven-game week, making him one of the best streamers of the week!

Brendan Donovan, STL (at OAK, vs. MIL)

It’s rare to find any leadoff hitter on the wire, but Donovan is available in too many leagues. The Cards leadoff hitter has kickstarted the season with a .414 OBP, .553 SLG and .967 OPS. That’s already enough incentive to use him, with BD providing a .284 AVG, .383 OBP, and .791 OPS throughout his career. It’s not like we’re worried about these pitching staffs either because he faces righties like Joe Ross, Ross Stripling, Colin Rea, and Paul Blackburn. Wade Miley and JP Sears are the two lefties he faces, and there might not be six better individual matchups for any other team this week. In addition, we love that Donovan has multi-position eligibility! This is one of those streamers that could develop into a must-roster player.

SAGNOF (Saves/Steals Ain’t Got No Face)

Steals Specialists

Jose Caballero (TB)

Caballero has four games against lefties this week and is batting over .400 against them this year. He’s also up to five steals, recording 26 in just 231 at-bats last year.

Parker Meadows (DET)

Meadows has been hitting leadoff for Detroit, recording a steal in two of his last five outings.

Saves Specialists

James McArthur (KC)

With Will Smith struggling mightily, McArthur has taken over as the closer. He has a win and two saves in his last four appearances, recording four straight scoreless appearances.

Michael Kopech (CWS)

Kopech is the most talented pitcher in this pen and recorded a two-out save in his most recent outing. He’s got two saves now and should get the few save chances that Chicago gets.

How are we feeling about Jorge Polanco this week as a possible streamer? Mostly just due to Coors at the end of the week, but could also provide some production vs Reds pitching as well.
