All right All right..back again for another DFS degen special. Today we have a tidy 7 game main slate to choose from and the pickings are slim when it comes to pitchers to choose from. Two teams haven’t announced their starters as of yet but one pitcher suddenly stood out as a play today that looks mighty nice. The Mets organization can certainly be looked at as a team that often leaves fans head-scratching or downright furious at some of their handling of players but if they play their cards right they might have found a hidden gem in Tylor Megill ($8,500 ). Tylor is the younger brother of Trevor Megill who also is a MLB player and pitches for the Chicago Cubs. Tylor made his MLB debut in late June in a start against the Braves and hasn’t looked back since. Megill features a 94-95 mph fastball which he commands quite well but the pitch that is getting the most whiffs is his changeup which dips down into the 85 mph range with good deception down in the zone. Megill also features a slider which he dots on the corners and is generating a lot of weak hits and ground-outs. Megill has the 2nd lowest ERA in Mets history for any rookie after seven starts (Nolan Ryan is no.1) so Megill has definitely raised some eyebrows. Megill goes against a young Marlins team who he has not faced yet and has been really impressive so far against right-handed hitters .171 avg .455 OPS and only 1 HR allowed vs. righties. The Marlins really only have a couple of lefties they can employ against Megill that might give him trouble (Jazz Chisholm and M. Sierra) so that certainly doesn’t scare me away from using Megill today. The Marlins also will start a reliever today or bring up an arm from the minors so even with the Mets not having an impressive homestand at 5-6 and averaging 2.7 runs during the homestand I think the bats can give Megill enough firepower to squeak out a win against the Marlins today. The Mets are also 6-1 when Megill starts so it definitely seems Megill is in a great situation today and one that I will definitely be taking advantage of on my slates today.

SP- Anthony DeSciafani ($8,700) Disco has had a solid campaign so far with the Giants and although he ran into a tough matchup last week vs. the Dodgers and couldn’t get out of the 3rd inning he really has performed quite well and shouldn’t have any trouble against a Diamondback team which doesn’t look as though they want to win any games the rest of the year. I mean just take out the starts against the Dodgers and Disco looks like a Cy Young candidate. Disco and Megill will most likely be the chalk plays but I don’t feel confident in any of the other pitchers getting cute here. I think you take whichever one you are most confident with and if you are playing multiple lineups you can switch it up to get some different looks.
C/1B- Buster Posey ($3,100) I believe Posey will be in the lineup today and should be able to tee one off against a young pitcher (Widener) who got smacked around by the Pirates and Rangers his last two starts so that should tell you he goes out and throws a gem against the Giants right. After all it is baseball and who the heck really knows what will happen but I’ll take the odds and play Posey who can do damage any day of the week and twice on Mondays.
2B- Juan Segura ($3,100) Segura had a great game yesterday and could have been even better had Brian Reynolds not made a great play to rob him of at least an extra-base hit. Segura has hits in his last 12 out of 13 games and seems to be squaring up some baseballs lately. This is a nice spot for him as he faces a rookie in Josiah Gray who came over in the Scherzer trade last week. This guy is going to make Gray work and I think he wears him out and gets a couple of hits today with men on base.
3B- KeBryan Hayes ($2,800) Dipping down a ways into the pool, I know I can’t play all the chalk hitters so I’m targeting a talented hitter here in Hayes against a lefty (Lauer). Hayes got the day off yesterday so I think he comes back in a soft spot today recharged and ready to go. Hayes hasn’t hit a bomb in almost a month (July 5) so here’s hoping today is the day he decides to end the HR drought.
SS- Brandon Crawford ($3,200 ) Crawford has a nice 4 game hitting streak going with RBI’s in all 4 games. Crawford really tore the cover off the ball in July and even though he missed some games with an injury he still managed 25 hits in July which is his best hitting month this year. Crawford hits righties well .311 avg and .978 OPS and shouldn’t have any trouble with Widener here.
OF- Trey Mancini ($3,200) Really sweet spot here for Mancini against Heaney and the Yankees. I know Heaney can shut down a lineup but for how long and will he be left in just a bit too long to have Mancini put one over the fence against him. Mancini hits lefties quite well .366 OBP and .944 OPS and Heaney is too inconsistent to keep Mancini at bay.
OF- Bryce Harper ($4,300) 3 Hits yesterday none of which was a HR. Harper is way too good of a hitter to let Gray beat him today. Many points await you if you play Harper on your team today.
OF- Kole Calhoun ( $2,800) Need a nice low-owned cheaper OF look no further than Calhoun. Now you don’t want him hitting a bomb off Disco if you started him but there is a strong likelihood he gets an at-bat against someone other than Disco and that’s going to be your best chance for a long ball.
UTIL-Bryan Reynolds ($3,100) Like the matchup here against Lauer. Strong numbers against lefties. Hopefully, he gets overlooked by some of the other hitters on the slate today because I really like him here and think he will have Lauer’s number. This lineup will work with using either pitcher I mentioned above. Good Luck everybody!

Don’t think SF will have much trouble today against Zona and their bullpen.
