Pardon the typos today, I am typing this article through eyes filled with tears over the loss of Ronald Acuna. What a sad way to enter the All-Star break. I will be coping with the loss the only way I know how, betting a whole bunch of money on DFS and hoping that my screen turning green washes away the pain. Starting off that process we have everybody’s favorite DFS pitching target the Detroit Tigers facing our main squeeze, Jose Berrios ($9,900). We all know that the Tigers are dreadful (and they strike out the second most of any team) and Berrios has been hot of late. His last time out he put up 52 FanDuel points vs the White Sox. The last time he faced the Tigers he only managed 19 points in Detroit, but this game is at home and I really like Berrios to shine.

Quick editor’s note: If you’re a loyal Sunday reader, you will realize that I am not MikeJacob. Mike decided to let freedom ring and will no longer be writing for Razzball. That means we’ll be looking for a writer to fill-in on the remaining Sundays for the season. If you have always wanted to give writing a shot, now’s your chance. Coming in halfway through the season means you’d only be on the hook for about 12 articles. In exchange, you gain access to all of Rudy’s DFS and season-long tools for free. It’s such a great deal. Many of our DFS writer’s have even turned their DFS gig into a gig writing for the main site. Just thought I’d toss that out here since we’d always prefer a loyal Razzball reader to a random Twitter follower any day. Let me know in the comments if you’re interested and I’ll get in touch. Now, back to the DFS plays.
Robbie Ray, SP: $10,400 – I have declared my Robbie Ray love plenty this season and there is no way I’m passing up a match-up against the team that strikes out with the most frequency. Ray could have a big game since strikeouts are favored so heavily in scoring. However, I think his downside is a little higher than Berrios’. This is a GPP play for sure.
Chris Bassitt, SP: $9,700 – I also love picking on the Rangers and if you find the roster-requirement arise where you just have to have another player and need to save $200 over Berrios, or maybe you want to diversify your GPP lineups a tad, Bassitt is your guy.
Luis Castillo, SP: $8,400 – Fine…I’m back in, most likely just in time for Castillo to lay a total egg, ruin my ratios in season-long, and lose all my money in DFS. Dangit, I’m just so drawn to those strikeouts and the Brewers are third on the list of most team Ks. Fire a couple of GPP bullets with Castillo, but not more than you’re willing to watch go up in a ball of flames.
Jose Abreu, C/1B: $3,600 – Spenser Watkins appears to be pitching for the O’s today. In his one other start, he held the Blue Jays to one run over five innings, but I’m betting that won’t last and stacking plenty of White Sox in my lineups. Camden Yards is a bandbox and mid-90s temps with humidity should make the ball fly today.
Andrew Vaughn, C/1B: $2,300 – We even have cheap White Sox options for you to load up on.
Jean Segura, 2B: $3,100 – If you’ve won any money the past few days in DFS it’s because you stacked up some Red Sox and/or Phillies in your lineups. The ball has been flying out of the park at Fenway and Segura has been leading the charge for the Phils. I like that to continue today.
Vidal Brujan, 2B: $2,200 – Brujan hasn’t made the same splash Wander did, but the talent is there and if you don’t play Robbie Ray, I could see tossing in a cheap Brujan.
Yoan Moncada, 3B: $2,800 – Another cheap-ish White Sox, I love Moncada at this price point.
Jeff McNeil, 3B: $2,600 – Third base today is the land of low-priced former studs. I like both of these two to regain form soon. Moncada will hit more dingers and McNeil will get on base and score runs…eventually.
Francisco Lindor, SS: $3,200 – Tim Anderson or even Jean Segura will probably find their way into my lineup at this spot, but instead of list the entire White Sox lineup, I’ll give another option in Lindor. I like the Mets today against De Jong and Lindor is nicely priced. If only he could hit.
Bryce Harper, OF: $4,000 – Harper and Just Dong are the two top OF options today, but I like picking on PIvetta more than Nola.
Brandon Nimmo, OF: $2,800 – The Mets OF is intriguing today as well, I could see dual stacks of White Sox/Mets paying off nicely. Conforto is another fine option here for $300 less than Nimmo with more power upside.
Andrew Benintendi, OF: $2,900 – Benny baseball has been looking good lately with four dingers in his last ten games. Eli Morgan and his 8.44 ERA shouldn’t provide much resistance to Benny’s biceps.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
KC & CLE could have some funk to deal with, they’ll have to play in the rain if they want to play this game, so keep an eye out for the dreaded PPD. There’s also some potential rain at Wrigley to watch out for.
Doing Lines In Vegas
On a day with many low run totals (three games feature 7 run over/unders) The White Sox @ Orioles game really stands out with an 11 run total. Stack those pale hose people!
