Lights cigarette, takes a deep inhale, ahhhh that was satisfying. Looks over at DraftKings app and says “It’s good to have you back”. That’s how I felt last night with the return of baseball. After what seemed to be the four longest days of my life, I was more than happy to get back to a night of watching baseball and playing in Razzball’s Daily Leagues. In my best night in awhile, I cashed in all but one contest I entered. Winning one of our two nightly leagues, placing in a GPP, and winning a couple of head to heads. It was a good start to the second half! Well we’re back again today with another contest for the 11 games this evening. It’s an unusual Saturday in that the majority of games are tonight as opposed to afternoon contests.

Other than myself, congrats to last night’s other winners PC Bomberos, and Rasjuba who were the 2nd and 3rd place winners from contest one. As well as the winner of our 2nd contest and the owner of the highest total (139.15) between the two leagues; our very own Schlurricane. He was followed by Bearcats594 and jackieinertia respectively. If you’re not playing DraftKings yet, do yourself a favor and get signed up. Just for joining with us today you’ll get a free entry into a contest. It’s a sweet deal! Plus we have tons of tools to help you get setup and on the right track with your lineups. Check out the DFSBOT, the Stream-o-Nator, the Hitter-tron, and the Ombotsman.

Wade Miley, SP: $8,500 – Miley has been one of the hotter arms in our game over the last month or so. Putting up a 1.25 ERA, a .171 BAA, and a .179 wOBA against in his three July starts. His July K/9 and BB/9 are 9.14 to 1.66; that’s a split of 7.5 well exceeding Grey’s magic number of 6. Though the ERA and slash lines against weren’t as tidy in June, he still put up a K/9 and BB/9 of 10.01 and 2.43. So he’s been a very startable pitcher in all formats for quite awhile. With all of that said, Miley gets a great matchup today against the lowly Cubs. Though the Cubs haven’t been terrible against lefties, they do strike out against them more than any other team with a K% of 25.3%. They’ve also struggled away from the friendly confines of Wrigley putting up a bottom 10 road wOBA. I’m thinking 7 IP, 8 K’s, and another 20 + point performance for Miley today.

Tyson Ross, SP: $9,000 – The King of the Hodge Padres has been an awesome start all season at home, putting up a 2.08 ERA, a 9.35 K/9, a 2.21 BB/9, and a WHIP of 0.94 at Petco this year. The Mets are on the slate today. Owners of a bottom 5 wOBA and wRC+, as well a healthy K% at 21.1. This all sets up nicely for Ross. I’m going to go out on a limb and say he’s the best pitching buy of the day. If you want to splash the cash on David Price ($12,200) or Cole Hamels ($9,900) go for it. The Twins and Braves are great matchups, but I’ll place my bets on Ross out scoring them.

Nick Hundley, C: $3,400 – This play is entirely based on his career BvP #’s against Jason Hammel. Hundley has gone 7/14, with 3 doubles, and a dong off Oakland’s starter. Check and make sure he’s in the lineup, but after Caleb Joseph started last night’s contest I would expect Hundley to be in the lineup for the O’s.

Paul Goldschmidt, 1B: $5,700 – Goldy has a home wOBA against lefties of .450 to go along with a wRC+ of 189. Both are great metrics to tell you simple and plain, start Goldy against lefties at home. He went yard last night off Edwin Jackson and I expect him to do so again. As my Grandfather always said, buy gold!

Scooter Gennett, 2B/SS: $3,700 – The Nationals decision to push back Gio Gonzalez to Sunday has me changing my picks of Rickie Weeks and Khris Davis as both are lefty hitting machines. No matter, I’ll simply plug in Razzball’s favorite middle infidel Gennett. Scooter has been one of the best point producers in Daily Fantasy at the Keystone thus far and I like his matchup against Tanner Roark tonight.

Ryan Zimmerman, 3B/OF: $4,400 – Over the last 5 games Zimmerman has averaged 10.8 points per game on DraftKings. I like his matchup today against Matt Garza who’s been dreadful on the road all season putting up an ERA of 4.50 in 50 innings away from Miller Park. If you stacked Nationals tonight I’d be with it.

Xander Bogaerts, SS: $3,300 – Xander got back on the good foot with a 20 point night on DK last night, putting up a homer, 2 runs, 2 rbi’s, and a walk. I fully expect my 2nd half rebound candidate to continue his Redemption Song again tonight at the Fens against Danny Duffy. Through all the struggles of the first half, Xander has still managed to hit Lefties pretty well putting up a respectable OPS of .754. Plus you can’t argue with that price for a player who’s certainly better than he’s shown.

Bryce Harper, OF: $4,300 – BTXJ called last night’s homer in his DraftKings piece yesterday and I’m feeling the same thing could happen tonight off Mr. Garza. Get Bryce while his price is still nice. Was that a freestyle?

Marlon Byrd, OF: $3,900 – Byrd is 9/20 lifetime off Aaron Harang with 3 homers and an OPS of 1.376. I’m all over that today, and plan on fitting Byrd into all my lineups.

Jonny Gomes, OF: $3,200 – Mr. LLAMAS himself should be in the lineup tonight against lefty Danny Duffy. Gomes had a go ahead homer last night for the Sox and when he gets hot he gets big hits in bunches. So don’t be surprised to see an extra base hit or two out of the best post game interview in baseball.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

50% chances of showers in Pittsburgh and Atlanta tonight but the rest of the games look pretty dry.
