Howdy everyone. The Great Knoche here, new DFS writer at Razzball, but certainly not new to Razzball. I’ve been hanging around these parts for around decade. That’s long enough to have accumulated the knowledge to have finished 9th overall in the RCL standings in 2019, That’s long enough to remember when J-FOH also known as Skunkbeard gave out free life advice on the regular. That’s long enough to remember the old, old website and comment section. That’s long enough to remember when Grey’s mustache didn’t have any gray. Anyhoo, I’ve been around a long time. I love me some fantasy baseball, but I am also heavily involved in both DFS and Sports handicapping (More on that later). When Truss threw out an all points bulletin for some help with DFS articles from some experienced, or really any warm body to help, I jumped at the chance to be the Knight in Shining Armor to his Damsel in Distress. Going forward I’ll be doing the Tuesday DFS write-ups and I look forward to chatting with y’all on a regular basis.
So today I’ll be bringing you my DFS picks for the main evening slate on Tuesday , April 26th, 2022. If you play on DraftKings, it is an 11-game slate starting at 6:05 Central time. This article will be primarily focused on the DraftKings slate, so if you play on Fanduel I encourage you to sign up for the DFS tools to help you make the best decisions for your lineups on FanDuel, DraftKings, and Yahoo.
New to DFS? You can start playing right now on FanDuel and put our picks to the test. If you’re scared of feeling like a small fish in a big pond, be sure to read our content and subscribe to the DFSBot for your daily baseball plays. Just remember to sign up through us before jumping into the fray, it helps support your Razzball team!
Carlos Rodon, SP: $10,100. I think I have to continue to ride Rodon with this price or around it. Especially against the A’s. Rodon is rocking a 15.35 K/9 so far and his ERA is at 1.06. Even the xFIP is still sitting at 2.13. The other four top options above $9,000 don’t even have close to Rodon’s ceiling tonight. Oakland is hitting .202 against lefties on the year with a .603 OPS and is striking out in 29.7% of their At-bats. Gimme all the Rodon.
Kevin Gausman, SP: $8,700. None of the cheaper options really appeal to me on this card, so in order to save some money, I am going to go with the cheapest of the remaining “ace” match-ups I like. Gausman went 8 strong innings against the same Red Sox last time out in Boston and scattered 7 hits on 88 pitches and struck out 8. Gausman is rocking a 2.89 ERA and a 1.84 xFIP all while sporting a .412 BABIP against. That’s good folks. I’m gonna need to hit on both pitchers with this card, and it is probably better geared to 50/50 than tournaments, but if these two pitchers go nuts and the bats hit you never know.
Joey Bart, C: $2,900. Joey is struggling to make contact so far striking out at almost a 49% clip. When he does make contact however it’s been solid. Statcast has his contact at 50% Hard contact. What better time to make contact than when facing a pitcher who has a career 5.01 K/9 in Daulton Jeffries? Also, wind blowing out at 10-15 so why not save a little cash here.
Nathaniel Lowe, 1B: $3,600. Lowe and the Rangers get to face what could be the final start of Jake Odorizzi. Small sample size, but he’s 3 for 8 in his career vs Jake and has had 4 multi-hit games in his last 8 games. Odorizzi, Pivetta, and Jeffries are on my pitchers to target stacks with tonight.
Marcus Semien, 2B: $4,500. To say Semien’s bat has gone limp to start the season would be an understatement. Currently hitting .183 with 0 HRs. There’s no better little blue pills for a hitter though than a pitcher who is struggling and it’s Odorizzi who were up against here. Semien is 5 for 14 with 2 dongs against Jake. Yes, please.
Justin Turner, 3B: $4,000. I thought about trying to save some money here with Andy Ibanez, but Zach Davies is going for the Snakes. Turner is a career .300 hitter in 23 ABs with a Home Run off Zach and with this game in Arizona and Davies giving up Home Runs over 20% of the time the ball gets in the air I liked this play a little better.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa, SS $3,300. Shortstop really is all or nothing seemingly in DFS. With 6 options over $5,000 I felt I could find some value here to let me get a bigger bat or two into the OF. While Jordan Lyles pitched well in his last start against the Yanks He’s still a 5.19 Career ERA pitcher playing in the homer heavy Bronx tonight. I’ll take IKF cheap here.
George Springer, OF $5,600. The Blue Jays get Nick Pivetta and his ever present potential. But that’s all he ever is. Right now he’s rocking an ERA over 10, and while it won’t stay that high, I don’t expect it to come down tonight against the team that just touched him up for 7 hits, 4 walks and 5 runs in 4.0 Innings his last time out. Springer is a career .556 hitter against Pivetta so I like him to find some holes and maybe a big fly.
Raimel Tapia, OF $3,200. See the Springer blurb above. Also Tapia just took Pivetta deep last week and has performed very well with almost everyday ABs since Teoscar went down.
Kyle Tucker, OF $4,100. Kyle Tucker is only hitting .127 with 2 Home Runs to start the year, but he’s too big of a talent to have that average not start making its way north. He’s 2 for 5 career against Hearn, and normally I wouldn’t recommend a Lefty/Lefty matchup in DFS, but I think there is value here, especially since Hearn won’t be long for this game most likely.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
No real weather concerns. Heavy winds blowing out in Chiacgo are really the only major weather item on the docket
Doing Lines In Vegas
I did mention I do a bit of Sports Handicapping. I’ll give out a Free Play here every Tuesday, but you can find all my free and premium picks for MLB and a few other sports at The Odds Breakers
The Reds are struggling to score runs and Joe Musgrove isn’t the answer. Reiver Sanmartin has potential, but the Padres aren’t the answer for him either. Padres Run Line is the play here, even money.
