Its happening….baseball is back! We are three days in and some (most) of us are still giddy over the start of the season. On this first Saturday DFS slate of the 2022 MLB season, we might as well go a little crazy, right? The DFS account is loaded and prepped to outperform the stock market. Keep reading to see my picks for an all left-handed DFS offense that are significantly less expensive than Freddie Freeman.

Chris Bassitt, SP: DK: $8,000 / FD: $9,700 – Well the Friday rain out causes me to move my original Freddy Peralta pick. Normally, I would use Brandon Woodruff, but he was used in the Friday DFS article prior to the rain out being announced. So, now I must pivot away from the Brewers arms to Chris Bassitt against a listless Nationals lineup. If Bassitt has bottled his 2021 repertoire and can find a way to avoid Juan Soto all day, he will enjoy a solid outing for your DFS lineup.
Kyle Gibson, SP: DK: $7,200 / FD: $8,300 – Insert most SP at home versus the Athletics depleted offense. Olson – traded. Chapman – traded. Laureano – suspended. The Phillies offense is primed to please their rabid fanbase and Gibson is a much better third starter than many teams. Let’s not get crazy; he is not Freddy Peralta, but he goes out every five days and does his job. Against the A’s is a no-brainer for me.
Yasmani Grandal, C/1B: DK: $4,800 / FD: $3,400 – To me, Grandal is the most underappreciated catcher in fantasy baseball. A switch hitter who knows how to take a walk, the Pale Hose can count on him to show up every day to do his job. I am paying a little extra to roster him over K. Ruiz on Saturday.
Matt Olson, 1B: DK: $5,200 / FD: $3,800 – This is the guy, right? He is the reason Freeman walked. The hope here is Olson does not press to impress the Atlanta fans and he allows the rookie Reds pitcher to make the mistakes.
Ozzie Albies, 2B: DK: $5,000 / FD: $4,100 – Baseball’s Great and Powerful Ozz(ie) drops down a little in the lineup and takes advantage of additional RBI opportunities after the big boppers. We all know he will run as well, adding the icing to this delicious treat. We could very well be looking at the start of Ozzie Szn!
Rafael Devers, 3B: DK: $5,900 / FD: $4,000 – We are going to find out quickly if Luis Severino is all the way back when he meets up with the likes of Devers. Sure Devers is an easy name to pick but how can we pass up this stud at the hot corner going against the Sox’s biggest rival in the Bronx? I expect Devers is the one doing the boogie down around the bases. Psst, check out what Devers did to Cole’s fastball on Friday!
Corey Seager, SS: FD: $3,200 – The ball comes off the bat differently in Toronto, and Seager murders RH pitching. I am going against the Streamanator’s #2 starter today by using Seager versus Gausman. Seager is an exceptional low ball hitter and I expect Gausman to stay down in the zone.
Eddie Rosario, OF: DK: $4,300/ FD: $3,000 – I was not sold when I saw Eddie as the lead-off batter, but something just works about it and I am here for it. I did not roster him in any Best Ball or season-long leagues so feel I must get some shares through DFS. The table setter with enough power to get it done himself should see a lot of strikes with Acuna, Riley, Olson, and Albies batting behind him.
Jesse Winker, OF: DK: $5,400 / FD: $3,300 – Seattle fans rejoice! Jerry DiPoto did what Jerry DiPoto does and brought in the lumber. Sure, Winker may be in a small platoon when Kyle Lewis returns from injury, but any time I can get Jesse against a RH SP, take their money! If (when) Sonny Gray hangs one of his curveballs, Winker earns his keep. The Razzball Grey will have a better Saturday than the Twins Gray. Mark it down.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
No major weather concerns. One thing to note…current reports show wind blowing out to right-center in the Bronx (see Devers above) and blowing in all game for Woodruff and virtually sideways for Gibson.
Doing Lines In Vegas
I will happily take Boston at +175 money line considering this is Serverino’s first start in such a long time. If Boston can chase him early, there is no reason to think they cannot win this game.
